  1. Thanks for that. Any steer on cost of both options? Novice
  2. Could anyone advise on a suitable ground/instructor to give a teenage lad a good intro/taster session? I've been asked for some input by his nan as she's wanting to get him it for Christmas. County Durham area. Is Spennymoor a good option? Many thanks
  3. Does anyone have any experience of their hide poles? They're currently being sold on that auction site for what seemed like a great price. They'll only be getting my relatively light use with me, so I think I might take a punt. Still, I'm interested in any direct experience of them.
  4. I wish I had plans to be in your neck of the woods sometime soon as I'd have had that off you. Good luck with the sale. Novice
  5. I've managed to source a left handed savage model 30, but I'd suggest your best bet is the Remington wingmaster.
  6. Anyone got the skinning attachment for the Stretton deer hoist before I buy new?
  7. If that's the case why doesn't the same hold true for the rest of the UK? There's enough unkeeepered ground north and south of the border to hold populations of raptors now that ddt etc is out of the picture. Why aren't there the numbers about that supposedly should be?
  8. Thanks for commenting as someone who has first hand experience if ringing. What's your view on the telementery devices? It seems a bulky and awkward item to me, especially around the neck.
  9. That's great news. I'm glad the underhand tactics of the lunatics involved in trying to push through the ban have been thwarted.
  10. Oooh, that does look a useful bit of kit. What's the trigger like on it?
  11. I can't believe something like that doesn't impact on the welfare of the individual bird. Suppose the question is, is that a reasonable trade off for finding out information that might benefit the species as a whole?
  12. Foxpro seem to have the better reputation. Definitely get one you can add to, otherwise you'll always be thinking "if only I had such and such call on here, they'd be bombing in" 😁
  13. Looks a useful tool for someone at a very good price.
  14. Good luck, hope you make suitable arrangements with John for a visit. It's a cracking facility that hides it's light firmly under a bushel, although to be fair it gets busy enough as it is, so I guess it's a balance between attracting members and keeping everyone happy.
  15. .222 By small calibre I meant true to calibre, in proportion. In contact with, say, the tikka t3. which I understand uses a standard log action, regardless of calibre.
  16. Yes, the sr40 normally gets folk scratching their heads. A long time out of production, but a true small calibre action. I imagine I would get a rebarrel if accuracy ever dropped off. The value is in the action I guess. Novice
  17. Thanks Scrumbag. Definitely a case of want rather than need but I had to have it when I saw it. I've also had a heym sr40 off Mick in left hand. I can't imagine they're more than a handful of them in the country in left hand configuration. Fair play to Mick for unearthing these gems and putting them back into circulation. I can't see me parting with either. Novice
  18. Recently joined pump club with a savage model 30l courtesy of wabbitbosher. Couple of questions: How many other members have actually come across a true left hand pump like this? Hen's teeth comes to mind. Also, it has a double digit serial number. I'm not pretending it's some priceless first run or anything (it's clearly not) but that has surprised me a bit. Does anyone have any knowledge or information on dating savage guns? Cheers
  19. Correct. I got pulled up for using m8 rather than m10. To be fair it is in the guidance and while some would have pushed back, I was happy enough to address it.
  20. How are prospects looking up and down the country? Good luck to those who are out from Saturday, in whatever capacity, on the moor.
