  1. there was a very similar thread to this a couple of weeks ago. ill tell you why we find it so difficult to stand up and be counted, its because as ive said before, for a thousand years the loyal british have been used as cannon fodder or factory fodder, weve been murdered in our millions by self serving foreign born monarchs, and politicians that have absolutely no regard for the wishes of the public, who they forget , pay their wages. why is it do your think that we are denied our constitutional right to referendums on contentious subjects? its because they dont give a flying one. and now the police have disassociated themselves from the public to such an extent ,that they neither serve or protect the very people that pay their wages.
  2. i use skinners method too. hold the rabbits back legs in your left hand so the head is nearest the floor.. your right hand should now take the form of a hand about to pick up a pint glass, hold the rabbits neck firmly and pull legs and neck in opposite directions. it works very well once you have the knack. please dont whack its head on a fence post!!!!! as for crows , i put two fingers on the throat and my thumb on the back of the head where the skull joins the neck and push down with the thumb.
  3. got a tasco on the .17 and it gives good value for money but got a fixed power doctor opic 6x42 on the 6.5x55. never had a gripe with either of them but i really am attached to the doctor optic. if you spend several hundred pounds now on a quality scope, youll be able to pass it on to your grandkids. buy cheap and youll pass it on to your kids soon for the school jumble.
  4. frankly frank, im jealous, well jealous.
  5. im not british. i used to be very proud of being english. whats happened to england in the last ten yrs beggers belief.ive said this in a previous thread but mark my words well. within our lifetime, and i narrow that into the next 5 yrs, our lives will change in a way we never thought believable ten yrs ago. our leaders have truly forgotten that they work for you and me, and we pay their wages to do our bidding., not work against us. the police would do well to remember that too. what is it about our island race that we feel so guilty all the time, we put those who have less right to be heres rights before our own ? we are a nation of shop keepers and have been cannon fodder, and in times of relative peace, factory fodder. for various monarchs and politicians. both my grandfathers were decorated in the war and im extremely proud to have the same name as them. what really worries me is what is england going to be like when im a grandad? how do you think its going?
  6. hello mimic ,axe has a quad and he loves it ! he was drooling over it at bisley at the weekend after shooting some decent groups at 200 yds. dont expect a short reply if you ask him about it
  7. hello stuart ive shot over 300 boar in australia { around darwin nt} and most of them were taken with my 6.5x55 with 140 grn federals or 139grn pmc. tropical boar can be huge but the 6.5 never failed. you wont gain much by using say 180 grn norma theyll be plenty dead from the 140 s if you do your bit.
  8. Thanks Hummer, where can i order them in the UK.Is it a half inch fitting?Still have the front sight on it.Can i remove it,are did you shorted the barrel.Sorry for my English. Cheers, marc hi marc , you can get a moderator as they are called in england, in any decent gun shop. there are a huge amount of them on ,line so shop around. you will have to remove the front sight and have the barrel threaded by a reputable gunsmith. this may cost up to one hundred pounds if you have the barrel shortened at the same time. i had mine cut down to 16inches and it made the brno much easier to handle. getting a moderator is well worth the expense as with eley subsonic rounds the only noise is a very muted " phut". on firing. good luck . dan
  9. ok paper puncher. dont forget to bring your pencil on sat at bisley
  10. Shhhhhhh just a thought and it pains me greatly to say but shouldnt those groups be measured centre to centre? not on the outside edge? if so they are even better than you thought. still not a proper gun tho
  11. well done m8 . youll remember that shot for a long time
  12. youve poked a pencil through a target there !!!! stop playing with that peashooter and get a proper calibre . say a 6.55 x 55
  13. you hit the nail on the head there digger. ive got two daughters too . they can both shoot , . skin a rabbit build a fire , and have the never say die mindset, but what sort of a country are they going to bring their children into,
  14. just my twopenneyworth but as i reported a few month back i did see a jungle cat outside the village of tatsfield in kent. as soon as i got home after seeing it run across the road in front of me i looked it up on the big cat website and it was definately a jungle cat
  15. hi mark ive got a parker hale on my model 2 . its been on there for 8 yrs with no problems and really does a good job. theyre about 25 quid new so dont get a secondhand one .theyre well worth it.
  16. why are you all so indignant over this .? this tpye of pathetic justice dealing happens every day.and please dont take me as a racist because im not . im a realist and theres a big difference but i think he was treated differentlly to you or i because he is from a minority. how about the woman who was arrested for swearing at the thugs that had terrorised her for two years without the police taking any action against them? the papers are full of examples of our very warped judicial systemt. police have a cuty of care tothe public but not an individual. that means they cant be sued if they fail to act when you are attacked and also means that the right to self defence has all but been taken away from us. a judge once said" an englishmans home is his castle, and from it he is obliged to retreat no furthur." what a joke. there will be a civil upheaval in this country within the next ten years if there isnt a radical change for the better.
  17. there are sevral extremely important issues here. firstly i think we were taken to war fraudulantly by bush and to a slightly lesser degree by the puppet blair .saddam could have been removed without fuss from within. by an arab or clinical air strike. secondly im not one for conpiracy theories but there is a hell of a lot of weird stuff about the towers that simply cant be explained by the cia. eg why were planes allowed to fly over the most closely guarded air space in the world in the first place, what happened to the plane that was supposed to have hit the pentagon? if you look at the footage you will see that there is no way a 747 disappeared into that building.where is the real plane? why was every surveillence cameras on THE MOST SECURE building in the world all off? an abc reporter was in an adjacent building to the towers after the first plane hit and can clearly be heard saying " get out get out there going to pull the building " pulling the building means demolishing the building with a controlled explosion that takes weeks to prepare. why did the famous " lets roll "plane scatter wreckage over an 8 mile area if it hit the ground so hard according to the pentagon that 90% of the plane dissappeared into the earth.? it was obviously shot down, if so why dont they admit it? thirdly why on earth are we in afganistan at all? is it to stop the poppy production ? is it to control the taliban? our soldiers are paying too high a price to bring freedom and democracy to people who dont want it and hate us with a passion. these are the same people who have a penchant for killing each other and not only beat the russians but stopped the british at the khyber pass when we were at the height of our empire. i believe the bush admin would have no qualms at all in lying to its public and being involved in the twin towers attrocity if they thought the end justified the means. but what is the end? sorry about the rant fellas
  18. of course its safe magman ,every shot you ever take, whether the target is paper, game, or a golf ball should be safe. im lucky enough to shoot on the south downs which are mainly high undulating banks of chalk so theres very little chance ,if any ,of any round i fire going too far past the target.
  19. my mates got a place in italy. the bloke who owns the farm next to his told us when we were there last october, that he catches foxes by tying a large treble hook on wire then on to a tree and suspends it at waist height off the floor he baits it with larks he has shot. the fox has to jump up to the bait then gets impaled on the hooks!! he then batters it to death the next day . he wont shoot them ,he says because they dont deseve it!! i told him if he didnt get off the property in the next 5 seconds i would batter him to death as it was he who didnt deserve a bullet. snaring is a dying art some say rightly so but if its done correctly and they are checked twice a day then why not . well done ss for taking it seriously and going about it the right way.
  20. i seriously envy you with the ferreting frank, i used to do a lot on the south downs but had to give the ferrets away when i split up with that woman who wears the ruby slippers!! theres no finer sport on a december morning with a bone in the ground. that reminds me. is there anyone local to me that wants 72 purse nets ? some hemp, some nylon. i offered them to longnetter but he never got back to me.i couldnt bear to throw them away but cant have ferrets now as i live in a flat. ill gladly give them away to anyone local who can pick them up.
  21. ive got a marlin vs costomised by roger francis at south yorks shootig supplies. it was 500 quid but really looks the part. when i first got it i was really disappointed with the accuracy as i could only get 3inch groups at at best no matter what ammo i ran through it. i cleaned after every 20 shots and very nearly took it back then after about 400 rounds it started to group with hornady 20grn and now at 600 rounds later with 17grn remington it absolutely fantastic !!!! i think a much better guage of accuracy. than firing off group after group, is being able to hit a target like a golf ball every time at every reasonable distance , say 25 t0 150 yds. set up half a dozen golf balls at varying ranges up to200 yds and fire a single shot at each. if you hit them all great then leave the sights alone and dont get too caught up in the "my gun can shoot half moa can yours" thing. remember you normally only get one shot at a rabbit so make it count. also the cleaning thing can become counter productive .i pull though with a bore snake after every session and thats all it gets. and yes when i do very occaisionally shoot groups, it does do the half moa thing . thing
  22. Whoops It was nttf i was refering to as he his also called Dan ...........By no means was it yourself .17 hummer no probs ive
  23. if you dont respect what you hunt you shouldnt even bother to get a gun im all for a frank and open exchange of views ,as you will know if youve ever read any of my posts. can i just say thought, that like texting, this internet chat stuff is very open to the wrong interpretation, and its very easy to condemn someone for a post, that if it was in the spoken word, would have a very different slant on it. so please, especially young shots, with the greatest respect , you are our shooting future after all , dont be too quick to condemn and be humble when reqd.
