  1. This must be a wind up. Can't see that happening in any country. Why doesn't the op give more information.
  2. What country is that in ? And what's the reason ? Bet their not BASC members, wonder what cartridges they use.
  3. Has anybody used Vintage Cash Cow ? Are the prices fair ? Seems an easy way to sell old stuff that you no longer need.

    17 hmr

Welcome to the frustrating hmr saga. I shoot a 452 cz and it to prefers 20g rather than 17g. But, 20g usually just " pencil through ", but ok for definite head shots, so once I finished the few I have left it will be 17g only. Don't want to scare you, but some years ago there was a big problem with 17 hmr ammo. If you are not familiar with this problem do some research to familiarise yourself. It was a big safety concern. Don't know if these bad batches are still out there anywhere, but better safe than sorry. Enjoy your rifle. 👍
  5. I watched episode 1 last night for 30 minutes then turned it off. Don't intend watching any more.

    Typing

Show off, I'm still on one finger. 😞😞😞
  7. In say February and cold on the moles, I slip one of those hot packs into each glove, they activate when opened and meet air, last couple of hours. Also keep a Hotrox handwarmer in my pocket. Off subject slightly, one of the farmers lent me a pair when using his quad looked and felt like a chamois leather, so must be chamois. Super, super warm and comfortable.
  8. Not UK I would imagine. Different laws.
  9. In winter for warmth with a shotgun, can load cartridges ok. The only time I wear for rifle is if extremely cold, but these days don't go out if it's that bad. Then take off to perform the shot. I sometimes wear white cotton gloves under fingerless gloves.
  10. When you read the mags why do see some of the writers testing rifles wearing gloves ? Surely you can feel the trigger better without gloves. In winter ok can understand, but some seem to prefer it year round.
  11. Thought I had found a proper bargain, then I realized it was the original without the ball head. Has anyone come across a ball head retro fit kit, that works out a good price when combined with the original tripod ? All I've seen are about the same price as buying the tripod with a ball head.
  12. One side yes, new other side don't know. Have to cross 1 metre of pavement to get to car and try to be discreet when moving items. When my local pub was open, most knew as I used to barter rabbit and pigeon. Only talk about ownership now to trusted people if it arises. Don't advertise the fact. Don't wear full camo while leaving house, although see lots of non shooters wearing it as it's cheaper than normal jeans.
  13. Series 15 Episode 7 on Mythbusters. Good watch. I get it via Prime live TV, but probably find it elsewhere.
  14. Charlie T is correct, there would be a run along those slabs edge. If you enlarge the photo, you can see a hole by the slabs, the mole might have moved out.
  15. I have put some traps in a farmer's garden today, where I have caught moles before. But this time there are no mole hills as such, but just a small amount of earth thrown up, this is where a new mole has found the empty run, claimed it for himself and is just tidying up the run.
  16. Picture the scenario. Three noisy, squabbling grandkids in the back, one noisy wife to my left, and me trying to park the car. Put on handbrake, gearstick still in 2nd, let clutch up before shutting off engine, then you get that horrible lunge forward. Does this damage the car in any way ? What about if instead of 2nd it was in reverse ?
  17. Don't worry about the you tube negative feedback. There's always someone who will disagree with any topic you could name, especially on a keyboard, and they probably know very little if anything about the topic. You entertain us and educate us with your knowledge of shooting, the effort you put in to the shooting and production of your videos are way beyond most people. Thank you.
  18. 1066, were cat slugs like a dome shape ? They were short with no waist as such. I remember using those as well in my Gat.
  19. I changed from a Photon to an Alpex, but the Photon never let me down, just limited in its capabilities. Like you say, the simplicity of a day scope with a Duplex reticule is hard to beat.
  20. In answer to Rimfire , about 3 weeks had 4 in the same night, with the same set up, so assumed all was ok. In answer to Jall25, haven't got into the habit of pressing record yet. The only " excuse ", I can come up with is I had changed reticule type and tried the PIP for the first time. Perhaps that threw me off course. Anyway, thanks for your input guys.
  21. I'm ok with hmr, lr and air rifles though, and I've never had a problem taking the Alpex on / off the .223. Every 2 years for eyes. My gut feeling is that it's me, not taking the shot correctly, thinking it's an easy shot. I think I need to discipline myself.
  22. I checked with the thermal right away, and then as it got dark with a headlamp and thermal again, walked around the other side of the hedge and done it all over again. There was no blood evident, and he never jumped or went down, just went the way he came out but a lot faster. I would say there was no hit, but I still feel bad, because I should have done better. Not going to use the .223 until I get some target work done.
  23. On my friends farm there is a small pond that mallards come to every year. I've noticed there are only two little small ducklings swimming around. So do they lay another clutch if the first fails ? The size and number of ducklings would suggest that to me. Back to my question. I know a fox hangs around the area, so decided to see if I could have it, assuming it was showing an interest in the ducks. Tucked myself in the hedge about 200 yds from the pond, still light, done 4 squeaks on a mouth caller, and out come a very large dog fox in pristine condition about 80 yds away. Side on, the perfect shot. The .223 was on the tripod ready, just a normal tripod no clamps or anything fancy, lined him up, pulled the trigger and missed. Now with the same set up I've conquered harder shots than this one, so is it feasible that my brain is thinking " easy shot " , and that was my downfall, and did not execute the shot correctly. Going to do some zeroing on targets, to see if it's me or the scope.
  24. I think about 1976, the game fair was in Margam Park in Wales. Harrington's who made the GAT had a stand there and I bought the pistol and rifle version from him. My claim to fame with the GAT pistol was shooting a sparrow off the roof gutter, and, me and my friend was taking turns at throwing a balsa wood plane in his garden and trying to hit it. On one of my turns I hit it and down it came with the pellet stuck in the wing. Sold pistol and rifle to a girl in the street for shooting mice , or trying to, in her avairy.
  25. What are these, some kind of cylindrical slip gauge ? Both sides are spring loaded.
