  1. I was a plain and simple security officer at a university even if i say it myself good at my job covered for the supervisor when he was on holiday i knew nearly everybody including the principal and they all spoke to me i had 20 years in wasn't looking foreword to chasing students as i got to retirement age at 67 . Then suddenly we got taken over by a new boss and we where called safeguarding got a brand new i phone 12 at the time and a new state of the art control room and everything was done threw these electronically . A big shake up for me but i suffered a fall and did a bit of damage to my left knee and while i was off a year the new security manager bullied 14 of my mates out the door and replaced them with whizz kids , made it clear i was top of his wish list of 6 long serving guys to go . So i kinda dug my heels in and outlasted him LOL . I took early retirement threw ill health at 60 and I am still terrified of computers and apart from browsing a few sites i will admit i am hopeless on them the wife and kids are sick of me asking them to post picts after being shown loads of times . Being honest i leave my phone laying till i need it or it rings . Why cant the old just be allowed to grow old gracefully i saw the new robotarium at work and it was like magic to me LOL
  2. Thanks for the get better wishes , No for the wife but for me its maybe a good thing Sunday right round the shop got our shopping loading it in the car and i forgot her cornflakes back round the supermarket again LOL, filled the car up with fuel on to my wee corner shop got my mags and lotto back hame had the house hoovered before 10 and hear was me thinking there was only one 10 on my clock . Went to Bookers today i have decided to bulk buy most stuff so i only need to pop out for milk during the holidays , I was just about to load up with some cheap damaged drink when i was told if i don't have a personal liquor licence i cant buy it , No wonder it was cheaper than the average unit price . You just don't realize how much your partner does your busy from morning to night still got a call back to the hospital on the 30 th so hopefully see its healing okay
  3. I prefer to make my own a soup pack for £1 just got to peel everything and a couple of hours simmering The wife likes the liquid from the top and i prefer the chunky lumps from the bottom , As my wife says mines is more like stew and i can add more potatoes or onions to top it up

  5. A week ago after being in labour for days my daughter had a c section to give birth to her daughter her mum and i where doing shopping and going up to let both parents have a nap after the 4 pm feed till the 8pm feed as my daughter couldn't bend we also had the grandson so life was pretty busy and it filled the days . Till yesterday my wife slipped in the snow and broke her arm high up at the shoulder phoned N.H.S. 24 and had to drive threw the snow to a major emergency unit as our town only has a minor one . We had to wait a couple of hours to get seen but we watched the other patients with amazement , There was a big lassy brought in by ambulance holding a sick bowl , Her partner beat the ambulance in and after they dropped her off her partner ent for two McDonalds and the two lassies ate them while they wait the first one fanning herself with the sick bowl . There was a old guy in a wheel chair kept asking his family to wheel him to the toilet and came out eating jaffa cakes every time he came out . A old wife came out the treatment area sat down in the waiting area them got up and left her family couldn't find her and made a complaint they weren't impressed . My wife got taken in accessed sent to xray and back in the assessment area in 10 minutes , But because the breaks next to the shoulder theres no cast only to support the arm in a sling to aid the new bone growth . So dosed up with painkiller and sleeping in the armchair roll on February because we never got to go xmas shopping and missed the last post for xmas cards its going to be a funny quiet xmas here

  9. We used to get that with the students any medical call to security even if we treated them you had to offer a free taxi ride to hospital , I always said its a waste of time you will be sitting there most of the night but if you wish to go i can get you there and offer a free taxi back when your ready .Some but mostly the foreigner's who couldn't believe they would get free treatment alway took you up on it , A follow up visit the next day said i wish i listened to you 5 hours sitting in a department full of drunks LOL

    DWP question

It doesn't matter you pay into your pension and are taxed all your working life , you get anymore than the bare minimum they say you need to live on they are them allowed to tax you again . I was talking to some workmates and they where saying i have 5 years to go i have 7 years to go . I said watch out if you can go now go if you retire on full service as your in council houses you will have to pay full rent how much will that leave you to live on ?, Retire with less service less money council cut your rent or pay the top up ?.They admitted they had not even tried to work out there fiancées only looked at retirement at 67

    DWP question

I would talk to somebody from DWP but a mate retired early from the council went to the dole to sign on and was told with your lump sum you will get nothing , to which he said im only signing on to get my stamp paid . He was then told anything over 33 years was a waste of time

  17. I am hoping this xmas all my daughter and son and there spouses and two grandchildren will be coming to mine for xmas . The daughter certainly will as she is on a years maternity leave but the rest work in the catering trade for weatherspoons so sometimes the choices are eat late or early to allow for there shifts . The daughter has ordered a Marks and spencer xmas meal i dread to ask the cost , But panicking about the shortages i got a 8 person turkey crown roast and put it in the freezer . But them i got a chicken roast a turkey roast a gammon roast and a pork roast , i also have a few pheasants and a mate is to get me some venison and today i got pigs in blankets etc . While it annoys the wife i said i plan to get a big bag of potatoes and during the holidays if the kids are herewith a bit of notice i can do a roast meal for them and that allows them to put the feet up and watch the box as much as there kids will allow them but it is xmas after all .
  18. Who knows why but maybe just removing the offending post and notifying the member would of worked better I often thought i was a bit racist till my wife came to my work for a xmas party at the chaplaincy while i worked as security at a university all the wardens where there and we each bought a national dish ( i had great fun eating bugs and little fishes )but what made it for me was when i got home my wife says seeing all your dads pals was like being at a meeting of the UN They where a great bunch of folk and the amount of times we jumped in to help them with problem students i made friends for life.
  19. the old saying a fool and there money are soon parted , Often i would ask my elderly parents why food shop at marks and sparks its very expensive , You get what you pay for was the reply . A lot of folk are brainwashed if its expensive its good

  23. When i read the topic heading i was thinking Dremel one of my dog freaks out with clippers and the other has black nails i get them to lie down on a small wall in the garden and pull up a chair and off i go . I think my dremel was only about £20 and i bought another packet of heads for it from Aldi for a couple of quid one of mine broke a nail and it now grows in squint and if you dont watch it , it seems to curl into the pad and with the clippers i was taking a fair chunk off it now its easier to take it back
