  1. That's pretty much exactly how my full length dies are set.
  2. Never had a bird of prey on a decoy but I did watch an otter one morning trying to get hold of one of my mallard decoys.
  3. I reload cheap "practice" rounds for the 223 and the 30-06 using PPU brass and bullets and cheap murom primers, the powder is thrown rather than being individually weighed and it shoots roughly MOA out to 300 yards (haven't tried it further)
  4. I've always had a schmidt and bender 8x56 on my 30-06. I briefly had a leupold VX3 on it but it sat at 8X most of the time and wasn't as good as the S&B in low light.
  5. I had my renewal done a couple of weeks ago, all done through a few emails and a couple of phone calls. Very well done, just awaiting the certificate in the post. This was Police Scotland as I am in Shetland. More than once he apologised that he couldn't deal with my variation but that is understandable at the moment. Good luck with yours, hope it goes as smooth as mine did.

    17hmr

I have a T-bolt with wood stock that has barely been used, it is honestly like new. I am no where near the Midlands but can post through RFD once this virus is behind us.
  7. It was definitely out of the mod, to end up with if I shook the mod over the worktop bits of black build up would come out, some bits as big as 2-3mm, bits that size can easily stop a cartridge from chambering.
  8. I had an ASE moderator for a while that I used on my .223 and 6.5x55, it couldn't come apart to clean. Once when out stalking some crud came out of the moderator and fell into the chamber as I was loading the gun, this resulted in me not being able to close the bolt. That put an end to the stalking until I got back to where I was staying and cleaned the gun. As soon as I could I got rid of the ASE and bought a wildcat so that I could take it apart and clean.
  9. Any hints or tips or homemade formulas to clean moderators? Cleaning my wildcat moderator is my most hated job, how do you guys do it?

    Snipe

Snipe is one of my favourite forms of shotgun shooting. A wander around with the 20 bore and the hound is a fantastic way to spend a saturday morning after a morning flight. I find it is also the best practice you can get with a shotgun.
  11. With the money you are thinking to spend, save a tiny bit more and buy new. There is a brand new T3X varmint with 1-8 twist for £945. With a new gun you have that peace of mind that nothing silly has happened to the barrel. If you were only looking at spending 4-500 then go S/h.
  12. I have one of these if your interested. PM me an offer.
  13. Excellent results using a squirt of fairy liquid and half a teaspoon of citric acid. I wish I had tried this ages ago, the brass is so much cleaner inside and out and a lot quicker.
  14. Deerhunter is all I have used for a good number of years for fowling, dog walking, work etc and have no reason to change, excellent value for money IMO.

    Rifle brass

I have 70 243 brass but no boxes or holders if your interested? James.
  16. I have 50 winchester once fired and 20 Remington once fired if you are interested? James.
  17. Thanks for all the replies. I have cleaned some brass using only fairy liquid and warm water and pretty happy with the results. Even after an hour the brass was cleaner than it would have been after 6 hours using walnut media in the other tumbler. I bought some citrus acid to try next.
  18. This is my gun for sale. Any questions just ask 👍
  19. What additives do people recommend putting in with the SS pins an water?
  20. I haven't seen any this season so far but have had 2 mallard and a wigeon with rice breast in the past.
  21. I bought a laminated 3.5 870 pump and was seriously disappointed with it. Very poorly finished and the action was as rough as guts. I bought it at the start of June and sold it on for a fraction of the price before the fowling season started in September.
  22. I have a set of blued bases and low 30mm rings that have been on and off once and are in mint condition. £80 delivered.
