Cast bullet loads for .45-70
jimboblincs2 replied to njc110381's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
I shoot Tim Hannams 405 lead bullets, about £16/100, useing 49g Vhitavori N133, not really a light load but fun. Had thought about casting my own but at the price can't justify it. Regards Jim -

PPU is about £25/100 from Henry Krank, Southerton Guns at Haborough near Immingham usually have cheapish brass, check website. Where are you near to. Regards Jim -
All right then, lets try this, near Doom caster

Any recomendations on where to get a Daystate serviced near S****horpe please. Regards Jim

Great looking pup, fairly normal for the home dog to ignore the newcomer, had lots of pet dogs, never had a trained gun dog but reaction normal. We just picked up a 9 month old lab rescue already got 5 jacks, I live in a pub so he has already been spoiled by customers ragging him around with his (toys) retrieves, can only hope to train him for something

Many years ago, pre Thatcher, Findus paid engineers average pay on holiday and on sickness. Where I currently work, the lorry drivers who work quite a bit of overtime get average pay on holiday. Part time workers get holidays pro rata, so why not pay people who work lots of overtime holidays based on the hours they work. Businesses should develop shifts that do not require overtime, overtime suppresses pay rates.

Will be interested to hear how you get on with this, been thinking about casting my own for 45/70. Cheers Jim

All this about cost of gun licences, no one bats an eye about the policing costs of football, a channel 4 documentary several years ago put the additional cost to yorkshire police for Sheffield home matches @ £110,000/game, add that up for all teams and you have a tidy sum.

Wish I lived closer, from your written submission, I suspect we would have a cracking day just laughing and joking, and taking the peace. Hope you have a good one, even if no shots are fired. Jim -
I have a vhit manual, what weight bullet?? Jim

Ask the local pest controllers if they ever get any jobs that won't pay, I've picked up a few bits and bats like that, once you get known, things will pick up. Cheers Jim

I believe this depends on the car. Modern 4x4's with electronic diff controls don't like different rolling radius tyres as it cocks the electronics up, convincing them there is wheel spin when there is none. Hence change all 4 together, I have run different profile tyres on my disco with no apparent ill effects. Jim

Sill rot is an issue, and you can only buy part of the panel, so you need to check all body panels. Gearbox went on mine also, went from a growl to a large bang and unable to shift gears. Fitted second hand box and it wouldn't disengage 4 wheel drive, vacuum system faulty, then some scumbag tried nicking it, cocked the immobiliser up, written off.

What is your location??, I'm sure someone nearby will give you some help. Jim -
I drive a 96 Disco, and have a piece of tube tiewrapped from the passenger seat headrest to the dash grab rail thing. This is only good for daytime shooting, too much light in the car with a gun mounted lamp. Crows will sit in range as long as I don't put the gun out the window, so it works for me. Jim

As a publican, I think this is not such a good idea

http://www.simplyammo.co.uk/ Take a look at these, never used them, too far from me, but came across them when looking at TR140 powder -
Hi, I went to the open day, quick walk around, came home, no one seemed interested. Comments on another site are far from complimentary. You pays your £100 joining fee and then go for an interview, from comments made, they treat 30 years experience as not counting, it's their ball and if you want to play it's by their rules. So general concensus is stay away. 3 months rimfire probation before your allowed on the 100m range, I could go on but it would be pointless. Cheers Jim

I believe Tony Morris of Central Bottling at Bawtry bought all the Lightnings from Binbrook and transported them to his scrap yard at Rossington, you can see all the tanks still from the motorway. I left there in 1991 and they were laid up minus tail fins and wings (removed for transportation). What happened after that, who knows. Jim
