  1. Cracking result again , I have some feeding on broccoli but they mostly deserted it after the pea vining this week I may get a crack at it next week if its not disced up in the meantime.
  2. It will be fine to leave cocked for that amount of time.
  3. The hole is where I came out to take the pic , i did not clip it back up and the wind was blowing it in .
  4. I am sure he would love it but he is in New Zealand
  5. I have had 5 fields cut marsh man , I have two harvest pea fields left but they are waist high at the moment. I am undecided if to shoot another field tomorrow , but after that unless I can find some laid stuff then that could be the end of my shooting until harvest. Sounds like your young dog is doing well and you had a nice little session .
  6. I also had a "little mishap"and shot my magnet arm , it dented it sufficiently that I cannot collapse it
  7. Hey Stevo you may be a cracking shot mate but your carp at knowing what month your in
  8. There are some real scumbags in this world , they should be lowered feet first a inch at a time into a mincer .
  9. The peas have not produced a single bird for me this season and three days ago they were vined . I went to have a look at the stubbles yesterday afternoon and was surprised to see good numbers on two different fields , one having around 400 pigeon and just as many crows on and the second had around 300 pigeon. The only problem was after watching each field for around 20 mins or so nothing else was coming to join them so it seemed they had been there a while before I arrived, I was unsure if such a situation would be worth a go but decide to go much earlier than I usually do this time of year so that I would hopefully get a trickle of birds as they came to the field . I got to the field around 8.30 and there were a few crows present , I set up for both pigeons and crows , something I hardly ever do , I had 15 pigeon decoys out front with a magnet and 6 crow decoys tucked into a corner . Things got of to a very slow start and I managed just 4 crows and four pigeons in the first hour or so . It started to get a little better as the day went on still slow but enough to keep me interested mostly pigeons with the odd corvid here and there. Unfortunately I shot like a muppet for the second time in a week , god knows why but I did . I ended up with 56 pigeon 11 crows and three jackdaws ( some of the crows were dropped in standing wheat so not in pic ).
  10. Ok dont do it , I know 3 people that had they , all got shot quickly for one reason or another and the gun was quickly discontinued .
  11. Well mate after watching that I have concluded most of those shots were just lucky Seriously some great shooting Stevo and a cracking video , I like the commentary and I think me having a mention in your video is the only time I am going to be near a ton bag anytime soon I still think that is one ugly gun ---------but I still want a go with it
  12. Brilliant game and a great result for the welsh.
  13. If we make a list a moderator will steal it and sell it to spam senders
  14. Well done , the things we do for our sport , a happy farmer is always a good thing though.
  15. To be fair JDog gave me the option of which line I wanted to shoot , like you say I was hoping they would come over the hedge and into the back of pattern but they just kept over flying the decoys , just one of those days.
  16. Sad news , poor little fella . My condolences to family and friends.
  17. It was a little strange seeing big humps in the ground.
  18. I cannot work out if you are looking for residential training or just group / one to one training weekly ? Perhaps if you made that clear someone could better help . Really if the dog is 10 months I would have expected the basic sit / stay you need help with would already be in place . As said just 5 mins once or twice a day should get the dog doing the basics .
  19. After JDog joining me for some shooting on greens last week he kindly invited me for a afternoon on his patch in the Lincolnshire wolds. We met at the allotted time and I followed him to a pea field where JDog had seen some decent lines of pigeon entering . Things looked promising as I could see a steady trickle of pigeon in the distance heading along a hedgerow and committing to the field . Another though less busy line was also coming in at the opposite side . We decided it would be better to split up and shoot a line each and I headed off for a longish walk along the hedge where the busier of the two line was entering the field . It soon became apparent that this line was going to offer some difficult shooting , the birds were coming up the wrong side of the hedge and then cutting across into the field from behind me , the wind was in my face which meant by the time I saw the birds they were well out on the edge of range. It did not matter what I did the birds just would not turn into the decoys , magnet on , magnet off , decoys further out all to no avail . It was one of the most difficult sessions I have had for a long time and I really struggled to get to grips with the long range jinking birds . I finished with 20 pigeons and a carrion crow for a rather humbling 66 shots . Meanwhile over the other side of the field I kept seeing pigeons dropping out of the sky followed a split second later by the sound of the shot. JDog was not seeing the amount of pigeons I was but what he did see paid the price , the wind was more favourable for JDog and he finished with 30 pigeon for a lot less shots than I had !. Thanks JDog a most enjoyable day .
  20. Just my opinion , if a fast load works for you fair enough . I would love to try some TSS loads but I start getting tears in my eyes when I see the price
  21. That's what I thought cannot see the need for those speeds with a dense shot like HW13 I would think 1250-1300 would be ample
  22. Err no , bow hunting is illegal here.
  23. my first decoys were made from guttering I have gone more hi-tec nowdays . The first rule of pigeon shooting was and always will be find the pigeons and set up where the pigeons want to be , do that and you should get consistent results . For me the magnet comes into its own when you cannot be where the pigeons want to be for what ever reason , it can help draw them off line and get you a few shots when otherwise you would be struggling . Though I perhaps use a magnet 95% of the time I still enjoy those days when I need nothing but a few decoys.
  24. That would be illegal Ditchy As said I have never known a pigeon to dig for anything.
  25. Yes I settled on it as the results with buffered loads were very marginally better at best and I could not be ***** to mess about with it .
