  1. Sorry to hear that , I have seen so many pics of him at work over the years its's almost like I know him . It was obvious from those pics he was a great dog and that he had a fantastic life with you.
  2. A very good bag , well done they really seem to be keen on the pea stubble this year strange how they have had no interest in the peas .
  3. I think you are stretching things out too long. You seem very keen on heel work but it seems you should be perhaps be getting the recall sorted because I can tell you from experience that if you don't get that sorted at a early age then you are leaving yourself facing a world of pain at a later date.
  4. I guess he would have his butler pick the rest.
  5. Muckboot muckmasters , mine are still going strong after 3 seasons , comfy and toasty warm . I have heard some saying the heels wear through but I have had no problems .
  6. About £75- £80 is about what they make each , so a good price with the extra one , the spool on the broken one is worth £30
  7. You will give yourself a much better chance of picking up if you drop birds in a confined area , you say yourself you had birds scattered over a wide area and there is no need to be doing that . It is not difficult to put a couple of markers out and only drop birds between them , if you try to shoot everything that flies past then you end up losing a high amount of the bag as you did . I know it is a issue that we will never agree on but at least put a little more thought into how you will pick up when faced with the same scenario , they are a magnificent bird and deserve a little more respect than being left to rot in a field IMO.
  8. I predicted a couple of weeks ago these types of post would be turning up anytime soon . It sickens me to be honest and must make great reading for the anti's . Why people cannot contain themselves enough to shoot only birds they have a good chance of picking is beyond me , you would still be there keeping them off the field for the farmer so crop protection cannot be much of an excuse. To lose near 50% of such a large bag is unforgivable in my eyes.
  9. No they are tough as old boots , they will; just spit number 7 back at you
  10. Most modern auto's come with shims to alter the cast , so don't rule them out .
  11. I cannot remember the exact details and if they were over sammi as well as cip levels but as you say AS seems to vary a fair bit from lot to lot in my limited experience. They were loaded with win blue box primers so that may also be soething to do with it. I don't use the RSI loads anymore other than some 3.5" steel as I was given another recipe I prefer for duck loads and HW13 I had found all the RSI recipes a little harsh and was backing off the powder by a couple of grains on all of them.
  12. And the winner is Kingo , all you are going to get on here are guesses .
  13. A great bag well done , and as JDog mentioned you and your dog did very well with the picking up.
  14. I am surprised they are back already , I shot those Saturday
  15. As you will know the piston set up on the other guns is totally different to the versamax so you may not so readily see the signs of over pressure. I don't know what your load is or where you are getting it from but unless you have had it proof tested then you would only be guessing as to if its hot or not . I have loaded recipes from the RSI data sheets that were suppose to be well under pressure , they failed proof on pressure.
  16. Cheers Brad , I have sent you a text mate.
  17. 30 grams of number 6 should get it down.
  18. I need some help from someone ,unlike yourself . I was dealing with the fast crossing birds just fine but have been missing to many of the easy ones right in the decoys these past few outings.
  19. Well done your drought is over.
  20. After getting a reasonable bag on pea stubble yesterday I arranged to take my apprentice minime46 this afternoon to a second field I had seen a decent amount of birds on. This field had around 300 birds on it Friday , I pulled up to the field and could see no birds coming in so I was a little worried , however after going onto the field as I drove down there were pigeon getting up everywhere . We watched a few come back and set up in that area , I put out my usual 15 decoys and the magnet plus a couple of crow decoys . I drove the car back down the field away and before I had walked back minime46 (Craig) had shot a crow. No sooner I was in the hide the first pigeon committed perfectly to the pattern and was promptly missed by myself , Craig missed the next one and myself the one after I thought here we go again as I have not been shooting great of late but fortunately I started to shoot a little better though still not my best . Craig perhaps shot as well as I have seen him so far with his new to him SX3 but he still has a way to go I don't doubt he will get there though. We shot for around three and a half hours and picked 58 pigeon and 5 crows.
  21. The only time my versamax put holes in the case was when I was using some home loads that were a little " hot" never had a issue with factory shells , was yours with homeloads ?
  22. I don't learn naff all from your videos , they just make me feel inadequate
