  1. It's been done as a tribute in memory of Les Paul apparently.

Give me 30 minutes with them. It's not even the brutality that boils the blood, it's the cowardice. It's a defenceless animal, I'd nigh on guarantee that faced with any type of real threat they'd pee their pants and beg for mercy...scum that desreve to be treated like scum.
  3. I know that problem! I was brought up a certain way...slightly old fashioned maybe by todays standards, it involved a degree of respect, and discipline. Very much a case of you don't hit a woman...ever, and 'if you live under this roof there's rules, either you live by them or you don't live here'. My no.2 stepson hasn't managed to grasp this concept, he doesn't see why he should pay rent now he's working, why he should do some chores in the house to help out etc etc. Forever whingeing about how "I've never had a leg up from anyone!"...*****! he no longer lives under this roof. I'm known for telling it as I see it, mostly my mates appreciate it for what it is, honest. Those who don't like that tend not to be my friends. This is not something that worries me. I reckon I'd get on OK with HRH!
  4. Looks like a trip to East Grinny may be in order then...so, what about gun suggestions, I will try and ensure fit before I buy. I am mainly interested in those 'unsung heroes'. Basicaly, really good little guns that do the job well but maybe aren't quite as fashionable so a little less popular. I love the look of the Berettas, but, I don't like the prices and have never shot one. I'd also guess that as a newbie I'm unlikely to really benefit that much from a top quality gun. I can always trade up later, and realistically it's possible I may never get good enough to justify a good gun... ....nah, that's a stupid thought!!!!
  5. It's not THAT bad with the gas conversion. It'll do low 20's on the MPG with a careful right foot, but with LPG at 74p a litre it's nigh on half the price of unleaded still, so it kinda equates to close to 40 mpg at petrol costs...which ain't too bad. Give it the beans, particularly off road and it's more like 7 mpg which doesn't get you far! ...but it sounds and goes awesomely!
  6. Hove actually. Thought I'd filled that out on my profile, will rectify!
  7. Hi all, Just been granted my SGC although I have been shooting clays for a while with hired guns. I made my application because the hired guns generally didn't fit so well, generally short in the butt and needing a packer...not ideal. Either that or my arms are a bit long!! So, I'm looking for recommendations for a novice friendly o/u shotgun, nothing too expensive but I do appreciate that you get what ya pays for to a degree. Also looking for shop recomemndations, I have C H Weston in Brighton but wonder who else you'd recommend relatively locally? Thanks, Paul.
  8. Have you got a link please, cannot find them through a search?
  9. Yeah, I'll take it mate. Too far for me to collect, PM me your details and I'll do a Paypal, up to you how you want to sort postage, let me know in the PM. Thanks Paul
  10. The rod that runs from the waste horizontally with the ball on it, should locate into a plastic insert in the waste. The insert is a snug fit in the brass and then shaped to accept the ball. There is generally a similar albeit smaller ring on the back side of the ball which sits between the ball and the chrome knurled nut. When assembled and screwed up firmly with finger strength, that shouuld be adeqaute for the plastics to make an adequate seal against each other. Generally there aren't any o-ring or similar seals in the pop up assembly.
  11. LOL!!! It's true too! I also prefer Land Rovers, women and real ale...the alternative doesn't bear thinking about. I currently run a V8 Discovery with a gas conversion...it's about to be barstadised into an 88" coil sprung, disc braked, V8, Series III bodied ragtop!
  12. Sounds idyllic Not jealous me, oh no sir, not jealous at all...in any way, oh no!
  13. I must be getting old, because even though I don't find her particulary attractive, I still wouldn't think twice about having a go.

    Mad?

You'd get a scabby Series 3 Land Rover for that money. I picked one up for 500, needed a decent amount of chassis welding, a lot of gaskets replaced and most of the consumables. Did most of it myself and spent another 600 (including paint for a respray), but ended up with a half decent truck worth a couple of thousand (at least thats what it sold for). ...or, an early Discovery, likely to need a new boot floor, rear arches and sills repaired etc, but the diesels are good, spacious work horses.
  15. Agreed! We never had teacher training days when I was at school, so why are they needed now? It's a major ballache as we both work so it means someone taking time off or getting childcare arranged, so now it costs ME money for our teachers to get trained on TOP of the tax I already pay. They get plenty of holiday, a few days of that should be used for training if required (half term etc). I don't think they get a particularly easy life, but at the same time it could be a lot harder. I'd take their hours for the time off TBH, and I am aware of the hours required, my sisters a head teacher.
  16. What's the price mate, it's on here at £780 but at £700 on the Gunwatch ad.
  17. What about these any good?
  18. Dickies do a Safety Dealer boot thats cheap enough... Click here for a link Do me OK for work purposes. Edit: Scrap that, just seen the 'steel toe cap' comment.
  19. Agree with pretty much all of the above. I would only use a wet system, it's too expensive as an electric system. As a retrofit in an older house it can be difficult with solid floors as you need to lay insulation ple another 75mm of screed over that, generally raises the floor level too high. It can b retrofitted in timber floors, I've done a few and they work surprisingly...not as well as in a solid floor though. The thing to bear in mind is that you don't use it in the same way as a radiator system. It's much more about maintaining a comfortable temperature all the time and 'topping' the heat up when required rather than blasting heat out and dragging the house up to temperature. You don't turn it off for several hours a day. This is more efficient, it's also why we are now being encouraged to fit programmable room thermostats on conventional systems which you also vary temperature at different times of the day rather than switching on and off. IMO it's also a better way of heating as the whole building gets heated and maintains that heat rather than heating and cooling and then having to blast heat in again. You don't suffer with 'cold spots' in a room, it's even heat all across the floor, all of the floors are warm so none of this putting shoes on as your feet are cold, you don't suffer with rads being to small, whatever the room size. if you cover the floor correctly with pipe it will heat that room, the bigger the floor the more pipe, simple as that. Combine it with a renewable energy source and IMO you are getting as close to an ideal system as you currently can.
  20. What size are the clothes mate?
  21. Sorry to hear of your loss fella, it's an absolute choker on you when you have to make that final vet visit, I too blubbed like a 10 year old, but looked at it as the least I could do as payback for 18 years of devoted service, made it seem a small price to pay despite the pain.
  22. She looks like a Georgie/Georgia to me.
  23. Where did you see that it's to put it out of reach of the 'poor' yobs? I was told it was a matter of it costing more for the Police to administer than they were charging, a simple matter of economics, they didn't want your application for a SGC/FAC to cost them money.
