I'm expecting an SGC from Sussex Police and it's a couple of weeks 'overdue'. The FEO said the turnaround should be 'about' 6 weeks, it's now pushing 9. Is it too early to chase? Do I chase through the FEO, or is it the licensing department?

Ok, just had another email saying "terribly sorry, misquoted you on the postage, it should be £9.36 for two", I have emailed back asking for confirmation, but looks as though it will end up about £17 for two delivered.

The Smugglers Inn always used to have the best kept real ales in Pevensey, is apparently under new management, I do hope thay haven't ****** it up!
-
Well he's VERY cheap then! I'll take a stab at £149.99

Ok, cheers for the info. As for the dry firing thing, as both you and Gnome have pointed out, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!
-
If you genuinely feel that they are being abused, it's one of the rare times I'd advocate a call to the RSPCA, which can be done in confidence.

By your reasoning there is absolutely nowhere that one could safely shoot then? You never know, wherever you may be, if someone might just pop up out of the middle of nowhere, uninvited and illegaly on the land, just as you squeeze the trigger! It's a risk assessment surely? I'd be fairly happy that a field with no public access and no public boundaries would be a fairly safe place to shoot, particularly if I knew the field and as such had determined my safe lines of fire!

I've been led to believe dry firing is a bad idea, does the internals no favours allegedly. I'd agree that it's nothing more than making a rabbit lift it's head, but how far has it's head got to lift before it becomes a non lethal strike. I've taken to only hitting longer range rabbits when they are head up, and have stopped going for 35 yard hits altogether. Edited for a typo.

Just goes to show how sensitive those long rabbit ears really are then! In all other respects I have to say it's a brilliant gun, combined with a Rowan mulishot conversion it's just about the perfect hunting airgun in my opinion. I bought the 400 rather than the 410 as I do a bit of HFT too so it makes life easier...and it was slightly cheaper, but the Rowan conversion works very well.

J@mes is right on this one I'm afraid fella. If you don't declare ANY modifications, if and when you have an accident, the in-sewer-rats will go over your motor with a fine toothed comb. Remember that they will look for ANY reason to invalidate your insurance and therefore not have to pay out. So you might want to stop giving it the big 'un on here and consider the valid points made. What you do IS up to you, but when it's likely to affect others then you should expect people to get upset about it. If nothing else you're potentialy helping push all of our premiums up. ...oh, and I DO have a 4x4, not that that's got **** all to do with anything.

Just a query really as I have nothing to compare it against, but how much 'internal' noise should there be from a S400 Classic? Mine makes a definte twang when it's fired, loud enough for the rabbits to be alerted to it. It fires well (chrono'd at 11.2 ft/lbs) and gives 10p groups at 35 yards, so I don't think there's much wrong with it, but I just wonder if it needs a service maybe? To be honest it's probably no louder than the 'smack' of a pellet/rabbit head interface, but it has caused a a few moments of consternation on the longer shots as the rabbits have been alerted and moved a little before pellet strike. I haven't had a non lethal strike as yet but it does cause concern to the point that I've become reticent of taking the longer shots. Any observations from other S400/410 users or airgunners in general would be appreciated.

A quick look on Gun watch suggest that the guns sell for about £180, people ask for more, but then you don't see a follow up 'it's sold' post. As you say, the bottles out of test and therefore effectively scrap value, personally I'd put a test on it then sell it. The scopes maybe £40 worth unless it's a big name, as for the other bits, they're the kind of thing I'd expect to see 'thrown in'. As it stands, if it was me I'd maybe look at £250 all in, (with the bottle in test you'd maybe stick another £75 on that though,) you could try at maybe £300 or so and see if you get a bite, I'd not pay it though. Give me a PM when you decide a figure though, I may know of someone interested if the price is sensible.

Good price on the barrels, but they do want £28.36 delivery for two barrels.

Sod the orbs/dust particles....why are the jasper nests glowing?

Sorry, not going to wear that. If they didn't take a long hard look at what they were going into and find out what the 'deal' was, they should take along hard look at themselves before complaining. As for the comment "And its not just a case of, leave if they dont like it, not much about work wise with the same pay and pension", well that just about sums it up. They may have a diificult job but thay are pretty well compensated for it! If they really don't like it then the option is to join the ranks of the less well paid and hope it's less stressful.
-
Yep, which they're paid pretty well for, and CHOSE to do. Makes me laugh, all the coppers I hear whingeing about how they get treated, it was their career choice, they must have had an idea as to what it entailed. It's like joining the Army and then complaining that you get shot at!
-
So, if I were too drape it to create a up-over-down between two bushes, and wore DPM jacket, trousers, hat and mask, at this time of year do you guys feel it would be enough?
-
It's different when they're pets mate, we have two in the garden that my daughter would be in tears over if anything happened to them....we don't talk about the other rabbits in the freezer.
-
As it's no longer on the original chassis or a like-for-like replacement it will be considered to have been signifigantly structurally modified. As such it is subject to IVA (Individual vehicle approval) testing, it's the replacement for the SVA. It's a bit of a sod but do-able, you just need to establish what standards you need to build to. I know this to be fact as I've spoken with the DVLA personally due to building an S III/Discovery hybrid. Mines going to be full Disco running gear and SIII shell/body, with a 3.9 V8 on LPG! Edited for clarity.

I've ordered and received a Realtree English Oak pattern camo net... ...it turned up today, and to say I'm a little underwhelmed would be putting it mildly. It seems to be nothing more than a camo printed net curtain and unlikely to hide anything! I was planning to use it as a low level bunny bashing hide cover with just a couple of poles, has anyone else used these, if so in conjunction with what? I just can't see it being adequate on its own?
-
I've got to get the rest of the family 'on side' with bunny at the moment. I've had plenty in Spain and loved it, but little 'un won't touch it if she realises what it is (a bit too close to Bonnie and Flopsy in the garden you see!), and even the missus is unsure. So I need the first few dishes to be T-A-S-T-Y! It seems that the salt level would be at roughly what you'd put in the spuds/pasta to cook then?
-
Two questions please... Is it necessary to soak rabbit in salt water, if so why, and how much salt to water for how long? (Ok, maybe thats three questions already!) Can they be soaked once defrosted from frozen or does it have to be done fresh? Ta

Now why would you state 'collection only', then further down the listing say you can deliver?! My bad, have asked for a costing, will let you know what they reckon.
