I get the impression that it's a large property with a few adjoining properties in the middle of the Ashdown Forest, from what I know of the area, there are many little pockets of half a dozen or so houses in the middle of nowhere and I suspect it may be one of these. Legally speaking, where is the difference between culling a fox and say rabbits on private ground? I appreciate it may be an issue with regard to what firearm could be used but would assume it would be down to the shooter to decide. If deemed safe, could it not be THEORETICALLY culled with a shottie?

It's a little more thought out than that to be honest, I am very specific in where I advertise and I target the equestrians. Thinking being that equestrians = horses = paddocks/stables/stores = rabbits (and rats possibly), it's also quite specifically worded and states the 'pests' that can be dealt with. That said, it's not been immensley successful, but I have knocked on every farm address I can find in a 15 mile radius, lettered every golf club within a similar radius and lettered many farms/clubs outside that radius. It seems that there is an awful lot of pressure on land in Sussex, and it's more about who you know than how keen/experienced/professional/courteous you may be. Either way, permissions are rarer than hens teeth. I'll be honest and admit I'm just about ready to give up and just shoot clay discs and knock down targets. I used to hunt and had a couple of permissions, but I worked abroad for a while and then on my return came to Sussex so lost what I had. I've not been on a 'live' hunt in a couple of years.

Paramol is one that's designed to deal with dental pain, but in the same position I found myself on max doses of that and Ibuprofen at the same time! Only real solution is an emergency dental appointment and probable extraction. I suffered sporadically for ages before having them removed, wish they'd done it years ago now.

I run a vermin control ad in one of the local papers and have been contacted by a lady who is losing waterfowl from her property to a fox, as is one of her neighbours. Can it be legally culled? Can it be safely culled in a garden( I assume it's a very large one), and if so is there someone on here who wants to deal with it? Sticking point may be that it's advertised as a FOC service. I use it to try and generate permissions, a foot in the door as it were. I have a guy locally who deals with the odd one but it's too far for him (Ashdown Forest), but if anyone is interested and insured feel free to PM me.

That's the badger!!! Cheers gentlemen. So why, when I put stock repair/stock refinishing/stock oiling/stock into the search engine, did it not throw that thread up!?!?!?
-
I recently found a thread on a forum (thought it was here but may be mistaken) which was basically a guy who did stock repair and refinishing, to a very high standard as a home business. He seemed to mainly strip and oil the stocks but to a standard above anything else I've seen. The thread was a lot of pages long with pics of maybe 20 guns he'd done work on, some of the pics taken on his very rustic kitchen table (which was also commented on quite a bit!) and he obviously used the forum as a source of work. Anyone have any idea who it is and where I found it...'cos I'll be blowed if I can find it again!!!

What he said ^^^. Does no good to protect them from the inevitable. It's an opportunity taech one of lifes lessons, before going to get a replacement.

Didn't even know this existed and I used to live in Caterham! I'd be interested if you do this again and don't mind dragging a novice around.

Where did you get the information from please?

Questions just been asked on another forum ( actually an arguments going on) as to whether you can legally bait for Fox to shoot? Well, can you?

Two tiny points, as said the counter neds dropping, and the word 'calendar' is misspelt on the calendar itself. Tidy looking site though.

Missed this one. What an idiotic attitude! You'd have no reason to kick a dog UNLESS it showed itself to be aggressive. Do you go into a pub and give everyone a slap just in case one of them may get aggressive? If you kicked my dog because he was attacking yours, I'd accept that as my failing for not getting him under control. If you kicked my dog for no real reason other than your lack of understanding of canine behaviour, you'd be in a whole new world of problems.

What he said ^^. It's your stalking technique that you need to work on to get you closer, not a bigger gun.

I agree with you on most points in the above post, but the issue of the dog being under complete control is a little skewed. I don't think absolute control is necessary. I'll be honest and say that I can't stop either of my two from sniffing at another dog, but they do approach sensibly and will come to heel on command. I think that's adequate and it's been trained into them. I rarely use a lead with mine, and I wouldn't dream of keeping them away from other dogs, socialising them regularly is IMO of paramount importance and makes for more balanced dogs anyway. I've never had anyone lash out at my dogs for approaching theirs, I have had a couple where people have said "get them away, mines not very tolerant" in which case I'll recall them and usually comment that if that's the case then the dog should probably be muzzled. If it does kick off I'll be the first one in there pulling my dogs away, but with balanced dogs, it doesn't kick off ... until you allow an unbalanced dog into the equation. You can normally see them, they're the ones running amok while the owners chase around behind all the while calling the dogs name, completely ineffectualy! Nearly always, as with most things canine, if theres a problem dog it's normally the owners fault, often through inadequate training.

"The organisation (DVLA) said the plate was "causing offence" and threatened Clarke with a fine of up to £1,000... they put the plate on their own website for anyone to buy" Farcical is all I can say about that. They issue the plate and then threaten to fine him? I think I might be trying that one out in the courts! Fair do's, retract the reg and issue a refund but really, making it his offence is a bit beyond the pale!

It's one thing for a dog to run over and want to play, it's another thing altogether for one to come over and start tearing chunks out of one my dogs. My big lad never starts a fight, but he will retaliate. He gave a Vizsla a bit of a pasting a few weeks ago after it had run over to our lab, tried to mount her, and been told off by her. My lad then wandered over to investigate only to have the Viszla launch into him. Apparently this was my dogs fault. I suggested that it may have been the out of control Viszla but apparently not. I would have worried a bit more but I suspect it may be a while before it targets my dogs again.
-
Assuming he didn't knock seven shades out of you, which he'd have every right to do to defend himself from your attack. If it was my dogs being attacked, the attacking dog would definitely deserve and get a right boot or two if required.

Apparently North Korea only has two car manufacturers, Kaengsaeng Motors and Pyeonghwa Motors... ...does that help? No? Me neither!

The original was version of this was apparently genuine, it was in the local papers and the restaurant closed down etc. That was at least 4 years ago though!
