  1. Moi... Having seen Roger Varians Intilaaq win its Maiden so impressively at Newbury over the distance...I cannot see it being out of the first three in the 2000G. Andrew Baldings C&D winner Elm Park is also very smart and well forward I've been told so that's my two against the field.
  2. I'm afraid its not a priority for me.. My priorities are ( save my family being No 1.) 1. The Economy 2. Employment 3. NHS 4. The Environment 5. Welfare 6. Hunting Shooting Fishing 7. Immigration
  3. I'm a big fan of Seiko watches...this is the one I currently wear for work...its the only watch I currently own which is a quartz...the other 50 odd being mechanical movements. I bought it on Japanese ebay for 3750 JP yen including postage or about £25 quid at the time, with the help from a Japanese speaking colleague who has also got me significantly reduced Subaru spares similarly. It was on sale in the UK at about 10 times this at the time ( excuse the pun) but wasn't produced for very long because the silver hands are quite difficult to distinguish in poor light.
  4. It looks increasingly likely that we will have a Labour/SNP alliance...I don't care what Millband says on live TV...he might not do a deal with Sturgeon but I bet there are other potential leaders in the party that will. The Ukip vote will undoubtedly dilute the Conservative vote and we will be left with England being run by a Scot.....Very Dangerous ! I suspect the Ukippers will be baying for a cessation of migrants from the far North and we will have to reinstate Hadrians wall.. Good for the Building trade though. Either way looks like the Ukip vote is going to completely **** it up for us all.!
  5. Hey Gord....he doesn't need any help from me.....
  6. If he was he probably didn't get past the Ram.....Hic I'm still waiting for that email by the way...
  7. Glad you raised a good wedge for a very worthy cause... well done only leaves one final thing to be said............................ .................................................................. .................................................................. .................................................................. .................................................................. .................................................................. FIX !!!! Hope you have a good day
  8. With all the millions and millions of votes we are told they are going to get where was Farage ??
  9. Its a bit laborious but I did a similar job recently where I had to take out a 2ft section of a 8ft skirting board. It was a 5 ins chamfered skirting and I simply used a heavy duty Stanley knife. Mark it with a pencil and get it started at the top and tap it down with a small hammer increasing the depth every cut. Took about 10 minutes a cut but it was straight and clean
  10. I think we have to think very carefully about what we do or say. The community has become very touchy about Firearms issues in recent years, its not like when I got my first certificate.... ten bob and the top off three cornflake packets. As we know the procedures are rigorous and lengthy. Fundamentally at the core is a reference from your Doctor which is in fact not to see if you have any contagious diseases but more over a psychological profile. I do feel that some of us (me included) sometimes over step the mark with our comments be them politically motivated or of apparent sexual bravado... for example how many times have there been topics mentioning good looking women on the forum to be covered with posts like "************", "******************************" or "*******************".. I'm not a prude by any means..I've got three kids! But I find that sort of comment distasteful and if I happened to be a female FAO looking in on a public forum would probably find it offensive. Possibly we should perhaps temper our replies in some respects and read our posts properly again before we hit the POST button. WE can only make a character judgement on each other generally through our activity on the Forum unless we meet. Others looking in will do exactly the same after reading just one or two posts.
  11. Nor me....both are on a much elevated intellectual plane than the rest...in all parties.
  12. Riveting exchange... Bet many wont know the significance of that statement.
  13. Very interesting...reinforces my belief that the Tories will put a minority Government to the Queen and she will sanction it. No need for any new statute for another 5 years.. I think I might have a small investment and double it up with Farage losing his constituency.. Odds wont be very good though so I might add Katy Price to have another baby and do the patent.
  14. Word of warning some Seiko 5 auto watches cannot be manually wound and have to be worn continuously or used with a watch winder. It can be a pain as you only find out when you put them on in the morning and realise they have to be re-set. Why 5 ? well its something every budding collector soon learns.. The watch has five key attributes : 1. Automatic winding 2. Day/date displayed in a single window 3. Water resistance 4. Recessed crown at the 4 o’clock position 5. Durable case and bracelet
  15. Political banter aside that will be the making of him and is indeed a fine gesture. If you have been yourself you will know what a emotional and extremely humbling experience it is. 100 years ago this week my late Grandfather disembarked in the Gallipoli peninsula with the Royal Gloucester Hussars aged just 19. He actually saw close combat against the Turks in the assault on Chocolate Hill alongside the son of the Lord of the nearby Manor.. Viscount Quenington who later died of wounds sustained in vicious fighting against the Turkish Forces. http://www.chch.ox.ac.uk/cathedral/memorials/WW1/Viscount-Quenington We always tried to get him to visit when He was alive but he was a simple Farm hand and never had the inclination to do so nor to talk about the war at all. he was with us I'm sure when we made the trip a few years back. Coincidentally I believe this week also marks the 100th anniversary of the death of poet Rupert Brooke who died on his way to Gallipoli I would imagine the War Poets are recited at your sons Grammar School particularly the Dymock Poets who also have a tenuous link to the County. This weekend, every year, I lay a simple posy at my grandfathers grave, toast him and thank him for my life. "If I should die, think only this of me: That there's some corner of a foreign field That is for ever England. There shall be In that rich earth a richer dust concealed; A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware, Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam, A body of England's, breathing English air, Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home. And think, this heart, all evil shed away, A pulse in the eternal mind, no less Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given; Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day; And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness, In hearts at peace, under an English heaven." Rupert Brooke
  16. Yep...funnily enough saw her again today in nearby Bisley...doing the rounds. Fair play to her she isn't afraid of mass rejection.
  17. Calm down, calm down and........................................ Breathe Just because Farage is a fanatically partisan superior xenophobic doesn't make him racist. I support the WWF and detest the Hartlepuddleans for what they did to that poor monkey and the Welsh for sexually abusing all those young lambs, not to mention Jeremy Clarkson for well, being just a total kn ob and running over badgers in his RR..... Does that make me a Racist...? You have to admit though the party really does attract a bunch of fruit cakes... there's no denying that....although some will of course. In some respects I would actually like to see a UKIP government formed... on the basis that you have to experience abject misery before you really know what it is.... The grass always seems greener .............
  18. Smoke for long enough and you WILL get cancer Drink for long enough and you WILL get sclerosis Walk down the middle lane of the M1 in total Darkness and you WILL get run over. Smuggle Drugs in Indonesia and you WILL get shot Failure to understand the risks is ignorance, which in the eyes of the law is no excuse. Do I think its wrong? Fundamentally No I don't. Deal with the Devil and you must be prepared to pay the asking price.
  19. Yes I agree... but the OP was using it as an issue in the context of his original post. In that respect he was enquiring of his local candidate about her stance on "our sport" "gun ownership" "game shooting" Not trying to be confrontational just trying to illustrate that peoples priorities differ, and those priorities which are the most important to the individual may not be necessarily so to everyone else.
  20. I think they will probably do well with the share of the national vote...every few years there is an uprising of surprise which then falls away. If UKIP have a future in this country I opine they should concentrating on making inroads into local government where they can probably make a tangible difference in representing their supporters. Its very difficult for any minor party anywhere in the world to try and run before they can walk.
  21. Like your Avatar....Nasty nasty man. I know you Kippers fear me...cus I tell it like it really is
  22. I think you have hit the nail firmly on the head and agree with you... This forum is a Country Sports forum not a political platform for militant derision...surely we should be voting for the Party that best represents us , our pastime, sport, or call it what you will and preserve the countryside for future generations.. I personally don't believe Labour, Ukip, Lib Dem, SNP, Scream Lord Such's Monster Raving Loony Party, or The Greens are that party. So like I mentioned before its like Turkeys voting for Christmas, and many haven't though this through properly. Its the Land and Estate owners, their Farmers and there like who control the affairs in the Countryside in the main they have always been religiously Tory Voters. I know over 100 Farmers, Landowners, Estate Managers many of whom have provided me with access to their land or tenure over the years...I don't believe many, if any, are other than blue through and through... apart form one who I know votes Green and another whose wife is a Labour candidate.
  23. Don't be so hard on yourself, me find fault in everything?...that's a good one, you would be hard pressed to find a kinder and more charitable bloke on this forum believe me.. I only try to balance the extreme political views of you kippers with reason and enlightenment.. Some one has to stand up to the radicals and represent the ordinary bloke.( or blokess)
