  1. The hw80k is a superb gun & possible in my biased opinion one of the best springers you can get & would readily get 1 tommorw if i could aford 1.Learned to hunt with 1 a little heavy in weight but if you know or know some one who knows his stuff you can cut the wood down a bit which will adjust the weight some(& their is a fair amount of wood on an 80). I wouldnt bother with putting a suppreser on the barrel as it wont do much to the noise of it, as its the spring as it flys forward that makes the most noise. another good thing about the 80 is that their are holes near the saftey catch that when you remove the iron sights act as recoil creep arrestors on scope mounts that have recoil studs mounted on them so once they are zeroed you shouldnt lose your zero to scope creep.
  2. I used to own a sheridan pump up .20 air rifle a slow use but reliable and extremely accurate rifle it used to throw the pellets out at about 12ftpound if not a little slower. I used to use crossman accupells with it & had a tasco bantam 2.5 *32 mag scope on it and could hit bunnies out to 30yards no problems the .20 flew as flat as a pancake & hit harder than .22 or .177
  3. The air arms s200 sure its not got the 10 round mag of the s410 but its light weight & compact & cheap to boot for a pcp. Shot 1 on quite a few times & i cant fault it they start off at about £230 with out silencer or scope or about £300 with scope the silencer is about another £38 on top of that.
  4. with pellets though its a case of try different brands till you find the one that suits your rifle. if you dont want to buy different brands of pelletts because of the cost look up pellpax they do 10 pellets of each major brand on a cardboard backing for about 15 quid (i think) they do them in .177 & .22 saves having to fork out tonnes of cash.

    Pellet Pouches

This is an even cheaper option go to some where that does photo processing & ask them for a few empty film pots you place your pellets in side and then add a layer of kitchin towel or toilet paper before closing the lid on the film pot it doesent rattle and is free it will hold about 100 pellets which is more than enough in my opinion for any hunting foray.

    .177 or .22

I have also shot .177 & .22 & i have to say that i prefer the .22 for the stoping power i have to agree about shot placement but i have had no problems c.o.m pigeons with a .22 with a hw80 but i guess i just know how to place it & how me & the gun worked
  7. i dont know if you can still get them but at 1 point you could get tracerpells they glowed in the dark & they were seriously good ok a little expensive and you had to give them a bit of light first to keep them charged up but at night when you let the ******* fly you could follow them no problems it was a real ****** if you missed though to see this green thing fly off in to the night like a proper tracer but at least they didnt set the undergrowth on fire like the real ******* do but they were great for following clearly
  8. i found the make of the red dot scopes in black hawk down they are made by a company called aimpoint the yanks are issuing them to there grunts & are having some excellent results with them in iraq. they were out to 100 yards plus with these sights. Apparently the sweedish have also purchased a contract to fit there army with them & germany seem to be getting intressted in them. But when i looked in to pricing 1 up i found out they cost £300 for the red dot sight & a further £60 quid for the mounts (i think they are weaver mounts although they have other more expensive mounting options) which is a bit fething pricey in my humble opinion. But they are rated up to standing a .50's recoil so i guess thats why they are so high priced :*)
  9. does any one know the make of those red dot sights they use in blackhawk down ? they would look excellent on a semi auto .22 0r on any air rifle if you liked the film read the book alot of the stuff they could have added to the film from the book but didnt. You can imagine in the film (did that make sense please tell me that made sense) red dots are good for aquiring fast moving targets or for rapid fire on targets also for plate target .
  10. where me & my best friend shoot on a pice of farm land their is a family of antis that live close by every time we start on the land they decide to walk their dogs on thepath through the farmers land so evry time we see them we stop break guns & wait for them to pass if thats not bad enough it turns out their are a couple of badger sets on the farmers land as well so not only do we get these antis disturbing us we also now & again get the local badger watch mob following us around making sure were not the brocks & giving us these lectures about that if they catch us by the holes with so much as an air pistol they will call the cops
  11. oh for feth sake kids lets grow up shall we this is gettin old & a lot more monotenous than a bunch of 5 year olds in the back of their dads car saying are we their yet? :< :< :<
  12. Tp 15-20 yards side on shot the chances of over penetration is small with a round head pellet unless your using a high powered rifle i used crossman premiers with my .22 hw 80 never sufferd an over penetration once untill i tried some sn1s ( i think thats what their called) i was given the pellet killed him out right but dragged bits of heart/lung out the other side. But if i thought that i was going to get over penetration at close range i used to use biseily( is that how you spell it) pest controls their hollow points i find these just as good as flat head pellets & a little cheaper.
  13. have you got any insurance m8 i have found that in the past if you have this they are slightly more inclined to let you shoot on their land as your insured by bassc or some group that offers simalar insurance
  14. hi andy 17 yeah the heart & lungs are behind the breast but as i said earlier on in this topic (check the quote out) if you you follow that bit of advice you avoid damaging the breast meat. If your worried about lead poisoning use an alternative type of ammo such as tin pellets they maybey expensive but they get the job done but then you might get a slight bit of over penetration which can make a small mess.
