  1. Thats true motorbikes and shooting have taken their toll, i remember about ten years ago we had a 2008 Peugeot 807 people carrier when kids were small it had a beeping warning for the electric sliding back doors the kids always moaned about it. I never once heard it.
  2. I got a weirauch for the hatsan 177 its a bit quieter than the old silencer was but even without is not that loud. The .25 NP02 is again not too bad without but putting the old mod that came with the hatsan on its a bit quieter. Going to get a A£M Marksman its purportedly quiet and under 380 in .25 so i will go that route then its done i suppose. I am still a little unsure about the real world merits of mods on PCP airguns, sure they knock off a few DBa perhaps but if it all adds up to that much in the field regardless of whats said at this stage sorry i am just not convinced. May be i got quite guns i honestly dont know.
  3. Here we are again another season on the point of ending. And i must say its been a great season for me on the shores. Dispite the birdflu concerns and restrain call it went just fine. I seemed to barely put a footv wrong, i even had times i was forced to go where i did not think i stood much of a chance of a shot and walked off with geese. I had a few good Widgeon flights where i had to slow down and pick my shots or i would easily have been getting too Greedy if you get my drift. I had a very memorable moon flight in Dingwall on greys and it was bloody cold but magical. A nice bright but cold morning on the wash was incredible and the opportunities that morning surprised me, but i held back and a perfect straight above me skein had the end two birds on the right wing fall. and i left very content indeed. a morning near Milton on the pinks another one i enjoyed and the widgeon flight after the geese went left me with 3 Pinks and 5 widgeon more than enough for my wants and i packed up and went home. Overall a great season, a welcome change from the down years of covid etc and i really feel its been a breath of fresh air.
  4. Interesting and kind of vwhat i expected if i am honest. it was hard to fathom, the language thing even with translation was faffy. And as sure as i can be the russians probably were knowledgeable etc. But irational i know i am being, but i am kind of off russians right now, i have even left my Baikal MP153 firmly in the cabinet the whole season. and two Russian motorbikes i have i just left in the container , I know there is no sinse in my reactions to some thing that has nothing to do with my shotgun or the bikes, its Just how i feel. But you are right its an interesting video / chanel.
  5. Yes the Kral has a half inch thread on it, but as for what moderator silencer whatever i really have no idea it is black and has a slightly domed end, it has seams but its not easily strip able . Looking through it its got stuff around the tube but the chamber if you like is way bigger than the end cap hole which is at least 7mm probably 8mm.
  6. Sounds like my issues are down to a poor moderator off the Hatsan PCP i have.
  7. Its not for the hatsan like you say its got the cocking aid sight thing that sort of looks like a moderator but pretty sure it offers no quietening at all with all the spring noise i will just leave that as it is. I like the Hatsan .25 that much i decided to buy a PCP in .25 and got a Kral NP02. I was expecting it to be much louder than it is, but not sure now. I Took a silencer off a Hatsan .177 PCP that has a big hole in it about 7 MM. Not sure of make but it only slightly quietens both the hatsan or the NP02. I have looked online and it seems the A&M marksman is claimed to be quiet and they do it in .25 i am just not sure any of these PCPs need mods, But all i have to go on is my mod off the hatsan .177 so no real yardstick. Nearly every single video review on any PCP air rifle i have seen talks about Barks and the need for a Moderator ETC. The difference with the mod i have on or off on either rifle is what i would discribe as slight diference nothing thats going to empty a field of quary or even freak rats out in barns. Will the use of a popular and quiet moderator like the A&M marksman be clearly quiet or will it yet again be barely noticable.? . About the only air gun i ever knew needed a moderator was a CO2 Pistol now that was audible , i expected the NP02 to be loudish with the shortish barrel but not sure why but to me it seems ever so slightly louder than the longer barreled hatsan but its slight as i mentioned before. Any feedback on mods on air guns.
  8. , I have never seen an air rifle silencer . but i have had many of the small parker hale .22 mods in the past with the stripable layout screw on end and baffle plates alignment tool etc. Are they like the above? Any cheap but quiet mods you can recommend i can modify practically perhaps.
  9. I want a Mod / silencer for a .25 .hat mods are available in .25 or what are any mods you know of that would be easily modified for .25?
  10. What machine or tools are you using or thinking of getting. And are you Loading lead or non tox , and what kind of loads Clays pigeon game or wildfowling or other loads .

    Air Arms SM100

    As last two posts.
  12. I have had a Hatsan 1000X in wood .25 for almost 6 months now, it is my first venture in to .25 air rifles and is sub 12ftlbs. I like the Rifle its accurate with H&N FTTs , and for a £119 Cheap air rifle its in my opinion Great value. I stick with the H&N FTTs as they are light for .25 , i tend to keep ranges down to the 20 to 25 yard area and its very decisive on rats. I wanted to try a cheap spring .25 after a lifetime of .177s & .22s, the problem was finding one in shops but i managed to get one new just 40 miles from home. The Hatsan 1000X is a low budget model but has a reasonable Quality wood stock with nice grain to it, and has the ouotro trigger on it unlike the slightly cheaper 900xs which has a slightly more budget trigger on it apparently. All i know is its adjustable, but was set from factory ideal for my needs so i left it alone. For the money i think its good and i would buy another hatsan with out hesitation. .
  13. Wildfowling season has sort of got in the way of time with this air rifle. But its got over a thousand H&N FTT through it now and its nicely settled down and running the top side of 11.5 ft lbs a little hot but its legal and well settled down now. Accuracy was good out of the box and it is still is. I have not found any marksman pellets to try, but i have not looked that hard to be fair. Nor have i tried any bisley pest controls, i am set on the H&NFTTs they work and i can get them local. Off the chrono and targets, its efficient on rats out to 20 yards and a bit more if i do my part properly. From a lethality point of view, it is very decisive and hard hitting and loving time spent with this thing. so much so i am going to invest in a better scope in the not too distant future, the 4x32 is working but its the weak link in the equation and i am going to address that soon.
  14. Been seeing a few about for ten days or so now over north lincolnshire, most seem to be high and going west to east, seen a few around local but not big skeins until today, saw a large movement high heading south east near new Holand guessing the wash area. .
  15. Several Browning A5 derivatives and Clone type guns were made , the Remington model 11 and savage model 720 were earlier options and the other companies built them during wartime too. The Japanese a5s were from KFC and SKB and Diawa and pointers were possibly a totally separate clone (unsure) , or a rebadged SKB or KFC. Other Japs produced the A5 miroku the A5 up to the end and other copies less well known are by singer and Nikko . What a icon the A5 is . in my opinion the first semi auto/ self loading, and arguably the best.
  16. I think so Chespekes do tend to be a bit bigger and sturdier than the typical modern labs, which IMO have in some breeding lines been diluted as fowling dogs by certain preconcieved ideas born from some in the game shooting world and a trend mostly in the 90s thankfully for small labradors. The Chespeke cross is a way of restoring a bit of size and power into a fowling dog, and gaining a bit more chest a nice foul weather coat some muscle and black color which i personally like in a fowling dog.
  17. Use Labs and springers myself but as a dedicated coastal bad weather retriever of geese and duck, think you cant dismiss the Labs they get the job done and are everywhere. If you want a different hardcore wildfowling if you like breed then irish water spaniel or a Chespeke bay fit the bill perfectly. But my dream waterfowling dog would be a Labrador X chespeke bay, all that Lab goodness with a Chespeke size and coat.
  18. I might try some marksman no3 are light like the H&N FTTs i have been using. Getting over 500FPS and downrange up to around 40 yards only loosing around 100fps so still retaining between 7-10 ftlbs (Range dependent) which surprised me rather a lot. If i were to go much heavier i think i would run into other unwanted complexities like mounts and click adjustment etc too much faffing around. i might try some Bisley pest controls and see if they A.. group and B.. zero roughly at the base of the plex on my cheapo scope. All sounds a lot to expect. Any pellet advice welcomed.
  19. Picked it up Thursday, fitted a cheap 4x32 scope and got 400 H&N FTT 19 grain pellets. Overall its what i expected it to be, in fact i think its probably a bit more than i expected if i am honest. I Am pleasantly surprised. Woodwork Is good with even a bit of figure about it, it has machined grip areas on forearm and pistol grip masquerading as checkering but the stock is good for £119 air rifle. Trigger blade on my rifle is a Metal blade not plastic as i have seen on several reviews online. Trigger guard is plastic but seemed sturdy enough and serves its purpose, but it is along with the plastic Safety catch / rear sight / muzzle shroud/ foresight although all work well are the tacky parts of this rifle. I wiped the gun down with an oily rag and lightly oiled the pivot points etc initially and put it over my F1 chrony. It settled down after a few shots and was thankfully legal out the box with no twerking. I might revisit this with heavier pellets just to be sure. ( What are the more knowledgeable on here thoughts on this aspect please) ., The 4x32 scope is nasty , but will have to do certainly for now. At 25yards it was touching on four and one flyer about 1/4 inch away to the right, its accurate and again better than i expected. I lined up four 12 bore hulls brass facing me and hit all four, i am pleased with it.i need to get a bit more time in on targets to familiarise myself with it, but for the money i think its actually good.
  20. Thanks for posting that very timely. It looks like the Hatsan will be what i expected it to be. And i came across the wood version the striker 1000x(Wood) not the 1000s (synthetic) so i wont have the inserts to contend with , the video seemed a little critical of. Pick it up Friday and i must admit i am quite looking forward to trying it out. Going to try H&N FTT .25s / 19 grain. and kind of like the idea of the .25 for lead free when it happens. Dont think i can ever remember being so keen to collect a £119 gun in my life, certainly not an air rifle.
  21. Like some others here, i fear the Bird flu problem could impact wildfowlng this season perhaps more than the warm weather. Another aspect although have no direct info on, i think could have negative impact on some duck numbers , is the Russian invassion of Ukraine. I dont know for sure, but i think the donbass region is a breeding ground for teal and widgeon. I bought a Skoda Yetti of a Ukranian Ellectrician a few years ago and he was into wildfowling he was from that area from what i remember. Any more Knowledgeably on waterfowl breeding locations could advise on this theory of mine one way or the other.
  22. And Hatsan is what.25 i ended up finding, a 1000X (Wood) £119 and only 40 miles away . Took some Locating, they dont seem at all common. But as is the way with these things, no sooner had i found this One, and I found another. If anyone else is looking for a cheap. 25 Hatsan 1000S pm and ill pm the details.
  23. I Want a .25 i got a few .22s and a 177 rifle all are 12ftlbs , and will do the job great. My Feinwerkbau 127 sport is .22 and i had it nearly 50 years. I just want a .25 i know i am strange i drive a 2 litre diesel alfa romeo as well. 😁
  24. Had 3 Gold 10s over hears and two bps 10 too and two sp10 remys. The golds and BPSs were all reliable. The Sp10s were ok but one i did get unexplained jams with, in the early days of steel. I still have my Gold Light 10 and i think it would be the last shotgun i ever let go if forced to sell. I would rather suffer the impracticality of the ten on anything other than geese or foreshore duck, rather than part with it.
  25. Thank you for the Reply. I Should have explained why i want a 12ft lbs .25 air rife and a cheap one around £100 too. I have several air rifles and pistols, in both .177 and .22, i dont have a PCP at the momnt and only ever owned one around 8 years ago a webley raider in .22 a old single shot. I have never owned a .25, had a sheridan silvver streak in .20 plenty of .177s and .22s, but never a .25. I have shotgun and FAC but no desire for a fac air gun, i have a.22LR brno/cz 452 which i use but i rarely use that i load 50 grain cast bullets at 2000fps in my .22250 tikka for much of my rabbiting etc. I Like the .2506 Cal i have one in Tikka as well, And have for years contemplated a .25 air rifle but never had the need and simply never came across one to even tempt me. Now WHY i want one in sub 12ft l bs now. I have a webley vulcan in .177 a feinwerkbau 127 sport .22 and a BSA model D in.22 was my grandfathers an smk x17 in.22 and two air pistols A 177 Predom a Walther clone, and a er ts crossman 2240 in .22. So plenty to go at in air rifles , but i am currently leaving the smk x17 in a shipping container right next to where i have a lot of rats . I am quite enjoying ratting, and the old smk x17 with its 6lb trigger and its 8/9ftlbs power level on a good day. But i now want a cheap 12ftlbs air gun and because i dont need esspecialy long ranges your 25m would be my max range and more realistic 15 to 20m typical. Now oppotunity knocks and t think the .25 will do what i need and a cheap hatsan etc will mean i dont care if it gets a bit of rust etc, not that i want it to rust mind. If you guys can recomend a budget make and model in.25 and where and how i might go about buying one, then i will get a .25. If not ill just buy a Hatsan 900 or similar in .177.
