  1. I am looking for possible options for a A BUDGET SUB 12FTLBS .25 AIR RIFLE. Phone calls to several gun dealers came up with nothing. I was Considering a hatsan , but it seems they are rare in .25. Any other options, and where i might actually get to buy one.
  2. And as for steel.? I have been shooting it (Reloads) for most of my shooting for 20years or more and have zero concerns about using it for everything. Its more than capable .
  3. My post that you quoted commenced .. I personally. YOMV.

    Choke

Try the gun room holme on spalding moor. Unit 2 New Inn Corner Market Weighton Road York East Yorkshire YO43 4EE 01430 861065 Me i would leave it well alone and as for steel... fine through a full choke certainly if any factory bough ammo. nothing sold here in the uk makes limits you need to be concerned at all about in that or any other gun for that matter.
  5. I personaly would leave the money in the bank or at least look elsewhere to spend it. After a lifetime of spending more money than i care to remember on shotguns and rifles i am now much more conservative in my approach to the guns i own or aspire to own. The Laws are changing and not for the better imo, i can not see any curtailing of the steady hemorrhaging of rights and tightening of this and that aspect of gun ownership and what it requires and just what hoops need negotiation to retain the right to own such things. I can not see me ever buying another gun as long as i live i wont be stopping any of my shooting activities, but will be using what i got and spending the residual cash on the shooting itself and not yet more equipment to do it with. I have sold anything i felt was excessive or i did not utilize very often and of course only when that gun was actually going to raise worthwhile cash.
  6. Security. as outlined above already. RATs and air rifle Up to 25 yards and sticking within the criteria of the OP. there are many spring powered air rifles that will do the job it all depends what is available in his area or he might have a wait for an order. Guns. Londns best quoted the Hatsan and if you can get one a model 125 (Striker IIRC) would do the job and its what i would try to get in spring power and give,n the budget . Another readily available option that is sub half the budget and is not only capable but possibly if he so wishes a project long term with a host of information and mods/ parts available , is the crossman ratcatcher. This the 2250 is the rifle layout of the ubiquitous 2240 range of CO2 powered Crossmans. recoiless and accurate and the addition of a moderator which is well within the budget will be a clear improvement on noise reduction (something which is not so clearly defined in the noisier springers) Not quite up to the 12ftlbs legal limit in purchased but will do the task outlined and has the potential for further improvements and all inside the budget. Crossmans and co2 in general have a few considerations you need to take into account however. and obviously the CO2c cartridges themselves need purchasing and the price though minimal needs adding to the equation and perhaps not so obvious the practical number of shots that retain consistent FPS per cartridge need monitoring. And further to this the fact CO2 is not at its best in low temps ( But its never bothered me because i dont work/ sit around waiting for rats at low temps either). And yet more bad news CO2 can and will eventualy erode the seal if CO2 carts left long term in the gun so remove a cartridge if storing it long tern say a week or more . This will help preserve the seals integrity. The seals are available and a simple enough job but its another consideration that needs to be taken into account. Still on CO2 there are way more CO2 options out there than the crossman 2240 ish range, SMK rabbit stopper and victor or victory mp2 the list goes on and some may work great but in my view i would stick with crossman they are a known quantity and cheap well made in the stock form for the price and modified easily with lots of dedicated well documented mods that can make improvements if appropriate. Cal & pellets. .177/ .22/ .25 . Any all got pros and cons and all will do the job . But .25s seem hard to find on the shelf for me anyway . YOMV. Pellets for rats i use an old Webley vulcan .177 and a SMK X17 i was given in.22 and i use RWS hobby in them both. If i was buying new and at that price point i would buy a hatsan model 125 in .25. if you can find one. I have no experience with .25 but if i had the money or the desire to spend it on an air rifle for rats that's where i would spend my money.

    Bank accounts.

My lad is 18 and going into full time education at Newcastle UNi latter this year. he has started putting his financing into place, he will get a bursary but he has no bank account in his own name. He has no passport and not even a provisional driving license, mostly down to him not having any money for car or bike and the long winded DVLA they dut down to covid 19. he actually applied for a driving license, but after many months waiting they refunded him after they took four weeks to open his letter and claimed "His application was too late". We need to move quickly if we go for a passport due to the timescale, Or is there an alternative by which way he can open a bank account of his own without the license or passport. If any of you can offer advice on this please, i would be very grateful.
  9. Heard of it but never really knew what shingles ARE, but just looked it up and all i can say is get the JAb. I am going to enquire in the morning see what criteria i must meet to qualify for shingles jab. Thanks for that insight.
  10. Had a Pneumonia vaccine a few months ago with no side effects whatsoever.
  11. Forums the world over are gradually fizzling out, and unlike the heady days of the early 2000s when several forums in the uk alone on this very subject were pretty active for a few years, PW survived and it has done quite well to keep going as long as it has and if its its last phase its not really a surprise if you look at almost any forum on any subject.

    Goose numbers

Svalbard is a big area i know, but looking at this forecast it seems the weather over there might not be prompting the migration quite as early as is typical. And the next fortnight weather looks similar, just have to see if this moon brings any movement. but might be a bit late this season. https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/norway/longyearbyen/ext
  13. As a Small Lad 5 yr, I was In the Yard Playing with the Dog. A Green van "ford 100E"came in the yard at speed. An old man got out, "is your Dad around" With that my dad appeared, and he told Me to go into my Mum. Th old chap was the bearer of sad news, My cousin !2 years older than me Had been Killed On That Shining triumph 500 . I remember that like it was yesterday. Years Latter we had moved To Lincolnshire, And Near Epworth it was a Saturday Afternoon i was in the back garden and i heard a Huge bang and my mom and dad came out looked around, would see nothing over the fields from where we were. but latter On the News the Nipro Plant at flixbourgh Had blown up smashing windows miles away and causing death and distrction in the immediate area. Third thing is Probably the 911 attack it was the same year my Daughter was born, and i can remember i was home that day tv was on and it came on Tv About 200Pm 230Pm IIRC.
  14. Late to this party but i Know of one chap who used to beat on a game shoot i was part of in lincolnshire. This chap Was 100% from south yorkshire police area Barnsley area if i remember right.. Story was he was he was up for renewal he had a air rifle not sure of make or type, but on inspection / interview policeman noticed this air gun. FAO got it tested unsure of exact details if he took it there and then or came back latter no idea, but bottom line was this lad lost his FAC and shotgun certificates this airgun was just over 12ftlbs, lad had no idea. but he broke the law so his licence went for over two years. That force was 100% south yorkshire this happened mid nineties early 2000s from memory.
  15. Nice! that wont get stuck easy.😎·
  16. CV carbs on motorbikes ! I have just re emerged from two weeks of pure hell, trying to tune My nephews XS650 Mikuni CV carbs to run on individual filters. This will be the case on Most probably all bikes with CV carbs but Yamaha XS2 650 1974 M reg. Straight off if your bike still has its original air box and filter set up my advice is DONT TOUCH IT. Ok its ugly black and needs hiding but Cv carbs need the air boxes chamber and volume flow to let them function acceptably. the bike in question was a pile of parts he bought in a drunken ebay whim back in the winter, He did an ok job of assembling the bike he had a frame stove enamelled and resprayed the tank himself and it looked good Norton style pea shooter exhausts and it bursts into life and ticks over great, but try to ride it and it had big issues. He brought it to me with the carbs off and in a cardboard box. I set too stripped and cleaned them put them back on and it was no better i changed the pilot jets from 132s main 42 pilots to 135 mains and 45 pilots, ran better but still holding back. Seriously difficult to set up on the original filters he had, they were effectively blocking the carb breathers in the mouth of the carbs mikuni BS 38s. Tried some more filters bought off EBAY uk these were better no restriction on the rubbers, and , after trying a couple more jet options i ended up at 135 main and 45 pilots and 2 1/2 screws out and a small shim washer under each needle. Only way i could get it running acceptably. If by me posting this i deter any wannabe tuners from chopping up the black airbox then thats is a good thing. I can only describe the faffing around with these carbs as frustrating verging on annoying , Believe me DONT DO IT run it stock on the air filter side cv carbs are a real pain to get running on individual filters.
  17. Hatsan in left hand new would be a gun fits your criteria. Hatsans are reliable work great unbeatable for the money new. Used shotgun the world is your oyster most semis will be fine last a lifetime, Browning beretta benelli Winchester the better known brands are good used buys. Right handed vs left hand shooter. i shoot left hand been using semi autos over 45 years, in that time had one left hand gun a 1187. it was fine, but so were all the right handed ones too. I heard about the gas blow back firts time around 1988 i heard it from a left handed 1100 shooter at a clay ground, he warned me, and 30 years latter thoudands of rounds i never had a singe issue ever. Even with 10ga semi autos all right hand again never had a problem ever , Just saying.
  18. Lies and half truths eddied to fit in with his chain of thought are what makes these people sound plausible. The hapless individuals who helped fund their exploits, must by now be aware that they were just funding an anti gun group with no interest in conservation.
  19. He is cluless personaly i would not entertain him, there is nothing to be gained from interaction with such a fool. Island gun as just posted what happened when the moron is given real facts. he will only use anything said as propaganda if he can so why entertain the fool.
  20. Avery clearly reads the comets on here or elsewhere and its clear he is clueless on ammo conservation most things and for heavens sake don’t educate him. His ignorance continues to do him justice let it stay that way.
  21. Only those in pyramids and only when the Pharaohs are out shopping. Yes BASC have it all there in one place .
  22. Well done BASC a job well done a victory from common sense, once real conservationists get involved this is what happens.
