  1. Sounds different but maybe try a small spinner of an early morning or evening, have seen people catch up to 5lb on them before. Otherwise some smelly cheese surrounded by compacted bread, trotted down the margin or near any likely features.
  2. Went out with TIGHTCHOKE today and had 2 Hypaflaps on a rotary over spring rape. It was the first time I'd ever seen them used and was amazed at how well they worked. As the battery ran out of power though they would only beat into wind. But apart from that they seemed fine and definitely worth it!
  3. Sounds good, unfortunately no peas have been planted on our Perm so we've had to make do with Rape! Still good shooting though!
  4. Okay, mate I just googled it and it seems very similar to the W&S Vulcan Mk III I shoot. As said before would be a nice gun for a rabbit bashing youngster to start with!
  5. Not sure how effective it is but I've heard that if you rub the inside of an orange skin up and down your arms a couple of times that's supposed to bee a good natural, relatively cheap repellent!
  6. I rarely use mine and I cant quite remember what make they are but I know I picked them up at a fishing show where they were selling them off cheap, had them for at least three years and never had a problem with them so shows are the place to look!
  7. Thanks they are one of my fav's
  8. When the weather get warmer chances are it will get better
  9. I am actually being towed back to the hanger in an electrically live cockpit in such an amazing aircraft Hopefully getting a run in a Buccaneer as well soon
  10. Never heard of the Idea! Im gonna look it up now!
  11. Ignore the Sunday bit then, the LAST day is when you get goo deals!
  12. That's a good point TEMPER! If you have a shiny barreled gun then yes I can understand but I have just been flicking through a Shooting magazine and have seen the real tree advert! Is there a need!?!
  13. I've shot fox with a 12 bore but have only ever had 29grm 6's on me so it took 3 of them to bring it down, in all fairness though by the time I had shouldered the gun it was running away so a side shot or head shot would probably have been easier! If you can get some S.S.G Cartridges then do so!
  14. Completely agree, shooting on your own can get abit boring and lonely, much rather go out with my Dad or some friends!
  15. I live in Wittering so just down the road from Stamford. Two friends and I went last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. This year we are planning to go again and possibly shoot the clay comp only thing is the Girlfriend wants to come for the horse side of things! As well as all aspects of shooting there are fishing stands and some great food stalls. As long as its dry it is a lovely day and I would recommend you go. On the Sunday you often get good deals on all of the equipment as the sellers dont want to take it home, for instance I got a £80 Storm Jacket for £30, shame I out grew it! Its a good day out if you do decide to go! Hope this helps HM
  16. I started off shooting at a pattern plate off of my Dads shoulder when I was 3, then myself with a Webely and Scott bolt action .410! Im not 15 shoot a Wessex O/U; a Hatsan semi-auto and sometimes my Dad's Beretta 682 Gold, got to be said that it is a very fun sport! Can't imagine me stopping! Good to another one coming into the sport
  17. I'm relatively new to fly fishing as well and have found that when fishing a new stretch of river or a new lake it is always best to watch for maybe even 10 minutes before your first cast to see if: your chosen fish are feeding of the surface and what sort of bugs are around that they may be eating and if you can identify these then you should start by imitating, then if that fails try a lure, in the colder months many places find black and green are often worth a try. The best thing to do is to speak to the local tackle shop or any local anglers if you can find them and just ask! Hope this helps HM
  18. However dont forget that you kept them moving for the farmer!
  19. I use 3 full bodies on the edge of my pigeon pattern because crows aren't my priority but three is enough to bring them in to get shot! However saying that the three full bodies are a pain to carry as there is no room in my bergan for them as well as 24 pigeon shells and all the other kit I carry!
  20. Mines me being towed back to the hangar as brake man in a Lightning Jet fighter at Bruntingthorpe airfield in Leicestershire!!!
  21. Quite right! As I have previously said I use walking stick that only go an inch or two into the ground and I keep some para-cord and pegs to stable the wind! as long as the net and cord is taught the poles shouldn't fall over!
  22. There is a small ground near me where I work. My boss, as a BASC Coach, often has multiple guns with him and one day while waiting for a client we came onto the topic of 12v20. We took a 686 E 20 bore and a 686 E 12 bore out and shot the same 15 targets each with the same ammunition. Having shot 12's all my life I preferd the 12 because for me, the 20 was too light and I over swung some of the birds that I could hit with the 12. I guess after a while I could have learned to account for. But then I do often get tired carrying a Hatsan around with me on a shoot all day!
