  1. I'm looking for kennel floor paint, of the ones I've read up on the conditions required to set it off properly could be difficult in the cold/wet north of england. Seems more suited to indoor use but will look into bison
  2. Best pups I've seen reared have always been flesh fed, but not just chicken wings/carcasses....little bit more to it than that
  3. I don't.....its the muck that holds my old Suzuki together
  4. Mate bought a 2003 jimny a month ago & although happy with it so far he says its £220 a year to tax, not the best on fuel with a full motor & severely lacks space. We cant fit all the decoying gear in the back with 2 dogs so we end up taking my grand vitara. Not be bad when we're game shooting though
  5. Ok thanks will concentrate the majority in the middle of the farm
  6. I'm not aware of anyone shooting on the neighbouring farms. We'll not be putting any birds down, just looking to have the occasional walk up day or if its quiet on the crows/pigeons gives us an alternative
  7. I mean how far should we spread them apart? 100/200/300yds between each hopper? Thanks
  8. Get the 2.0hdi grand vit, mine does 35mpg locally & 42 on a run. I rarely go over 60mph & get decent mpg. Get them fairly cheap aswell
  9. We're about to put feeders on a farm as the farmer has said its fine to shoot the pheasants on his land. Its mainly hedgerows, rough corners & a long bracken/gorse filled gulley. What distance should we be leaving between hoppers? Thanks
  10. As people have said its fine with 'their insurers', make sure you check with your own. It wasn't too long ago insurance companies were refusing to pay out due to drivers failing to notify use of winter tyres.
  11. They have vents but will see how they fare this winter
  12. My actual kennels are made from plastic 45 gallon drums. I read alot of hound men in the states/canada use them in temperatures down to -45 but they bury them in the earth. Been using them a month now & although I intend to make some adjustments they seem ideal. The door flaps are the clear plastic they use on factory doors, raised off the ground on wooden feet with drain holes. Completely draught & waterproof also easy to clean. Filled with straw the dogs seem content.
  13. Yeah mate thats what I meant
  14. Think about your drainage first then the rest.....
  15. Build them as big as you have space for, if you ever have to leave the dogs for longer than usual its better to know they're not stuck in a small kennel
  16. Can anyone recommend a supplier of spring feeders for our barrels please?
  17. Yes you do as its classed as a modification, insurance companies will look at anything to get out of paying....
  18. Its fine to breed from a 13 month old pup though? A bitch thats had 6 litters is not overbred? The KC is an absolute disgrace.....
  19. Thanks for the advice. The last tenant did mention the keeper was going to let them push a big wood through thats not on the land, supposed to be a decent bloke so looking to work with him as against him. Will post out progress in time
  20. I understand what you're saying but we'll not be buying anything other than wheat. Theres little cover on the 600 acres we have & of the 6 members only 2/3 of us will be shooting game. The others only joined for the vermin, can't complain at £115 each as theres plenty rabbits & several crop fields ready to cut with plenty decoying to be had. We will be speaking in depth with the keeper soon as we intend to put more hoppers in & make sure everythings ready for the season
  21. You're missing the point lads, the 600 acres is let to us by the main shoot. We're not expected to put birds down, just feed & shoot as we want. The head keeper keeps several fields to dog back in. Theres no bad etiquette as its the way the estate has always let the shoot. Sorry for any confusion
