  1. Hobby lockpickers.....thiefs in other words? Lol
  2. Wouldn't surprise me if its been released by a wildlife rescue. Years ago on the estate I controlled the foxes they seemed to be dropped regular, they would come within 20yds to investigate & when they realised there was nothing for them they'd totter off. Preban my lurcher seen off a good few, it was a pheasant shoot we done the vermin & the keeper insisted that we killed all foxes
  3. Agree with getting there when its dark, they start flying before daylight. Its surprising how easy it is to see them against the sky & you can start building a pattern before daylight if you get under a flight line. They were coming in low for us in the dark & the shooting never put them off until it got light aswell. Good luck
  4. Get a classic beetle, pretty sure I read somewhere they were the cheapest car for a young driver....tax exempt another bonus
  5. The chemical markers in red diesel is what catches people out not the dye. If you think a motor has been ran on red you need to get the fuel system flushed. If you had recently bought the car & had the receipt it shouldn't be a problem. I heard a haulage company dye their own diesel a different colour to stop it being stolen by staff, it was suggested before that this would be a way of hiding the red but again, its the markers in the diesel that are detected when a tank is dipped
  6. I have the above in excellent condition & is a great bit of kit. It comes in a waterproof bag complete with 2 battery clips, rechargeable batteries, charger, leads & also a 2x lens that can be fitted. I'm looking to swap for a bellman/Barryvox terrier locator setup or decent mig welder or will sell for £250ono
  7. 178 so far this year, might get out after xmas yet Total = 7313
  8. Started off very quiet then dribs & drabs. Some shocking misses (new gloves/cartridges lol) some decent shots in a howling gale. Ended the day with 16 crows, 10 pigeons & a pegged pheasant courteousy of the lab...
  9. Real borders are few & far between if you intend digging, you may waste 2yrs rearing/training only to find its no good. Plenty of russells out there but again its finding a decent pup. Lakeys can be headstrong & gassy, plummers again hit & miss as digging dogs. Patterdales best bet IMO but finding the best breeding is the difficult part, maybe not as difficult if you only intend to dig occasionally. As to trusting dogs, we're talking terriers here not pit bulls. Socialising is the key, I personally would never trust ANY dog 100% with kids but fetching dogs/kids up to respect each other is the key
  10. A little digging? Strange answer....I very much doubt owners of decent working lakelands will ever sell pups on epupz, preloved etc. Pups from good working parents rarely need to be advertised. I have never had any preference breed wise, as long as both parents were from a long line of earth dogs that is all that has bothered me. The Hunting Life would be a better bet but then again, theres plenty on there who's sole intention is monetary gain. Good luck in your search
  11. Theres plenty of lads chance digging without permission. Very risky business due to the current climate with terrierwork, best thing is just to ask them to leave. I doubt they'd be bothering with pheasants
  12. Thanks, luckily the farmer had left 2 acres of standing corn due to his machine breaking down so there was plenty about when we called up a few days ago. Once we left today we passed the lower fields & there was thousands flying about. Never seen as many about like this year, gonna cost us a few quid buying cartridges this winter
  13. A local terrierman might be able to sort it out for you. The local hunt will know all the earths in your area, possibly worth asking if you can't shoot it
  14. After finishing work at 5am this morning we called into MacDonalds for coffee & breakfast then drove to the farm. Sat in the jeep until 7am so as not disturb the farmer too early, drove upto our hide whilst still pitch black & sorted our gear. We managed half a dozen before daylight, put them out then the fun began. The crows came in well but due to overexcitement & some poor shots we wasted cartridges, the birds came in steadily for a couple of hours then quietened down til we stopped shooting. We collected 61 crows & 6 pigeons. Unfortunately we were unable to pick another +10 birds that went over the boundary. Could have easily been a +100 bird day but we had to leave & were knackered after nightshift
  15. Thousands of crows where we shoot in the tyne valley, very few pigeons today
  16. Sometimes you have to be prepared to travel, get rid of the landy & buy something cheap & reliable. I'll be doing alot down wales this season so think I'll be selling the 4x4 & replacing with a little clio van. Some generous offers there
  17. Incidents like this shouldn't happen but do & always will. I'm not a fan of pitbull terriers but this is down to the fact the majority are owned by moronic owners who don't realise these dogs can be like ticking bombs just waiting for something to set them off. Theres a big difference between bull terrier types & pitbulls although both can inflict serious damage. I've separated a pair of pitbulls before & other dogs numerous times. I can honestly say that the kicking, punching, shouting, hitting with a stick will do nothing but heighten a bulls aggression. Separating the bulls on a local field I managed to choke one off & had the edge of my hand smashed in the process by the other when it turned. As mentioned a breaking stick is the quickest means of putting a stop to it. A breaking stick is a wedge shaped piece, made from wood or tough plastic, that is put in the dogs mouth as near to the back teeth as possible & opens the mouth. Finger up the ****, water in the nostrils, ******** squeezed all old wives tales. A break stick could save your dog a lot of damage or even its life
  18. Unless you have a free or cheap supply of wvo you can filter I think you might be wasting your time, especially if you're having to buy new oil which isn't much cheaper than diesel. I ran my mazda engined Grand Vitara for 2yrs on wvo I got for free from the works canteen, it was filthy but never gave me any problems & saved a fortune mixing it 50/50 or 75/25 with derv. My supply dried up & I found a cheap supply from a local chip van owner, pre filtered & looked like new oil....37p a litre I thought I was on a winner. As someone mentioned earlier, the chippy wvo had a higher water content which done for my pump. I've heard of the asda diesel ruining pumps on newer vehicles, therefore I find it difficult to understand why anyone with +£5k motor trying to save a few quid on fuel......buy one you can comfortably afford to run, can't see this government doing us any favours anytime soon
  19. Like I said mate these clutches are tried & tested by the offroaders who hammer them. Can only speak as I find & only heard good feedback, they might be recon but are well made & they come with a guarantee. I do my own work so save on labour anyway
  20. Hello mate, I live in Hebburn also
