  1. I know of lads who breed litter after litter of border terriers buy in papers from pet owners who have know intention of breeding. Theres no reason to doubt the dogs paperwork as a single litter, brought into the house for buyers to view away from the rest, raises no suspicion. Why would any buyer go to the effort of blood tests unless they had suspicion?
  2. Thanks, this will be my first season shooting game. Need to quickly source our wheat then, thanks
  3. Exactly, some morons believe that KC registration is essential but puppy farmers have been faking paperwork for years.
  4. We've just taken a rough shoot on which is about 600acres, mostly hedgerows with couple of strip woods which is the outskirts of a bigger commercial shoot. Pheasant, partridge & ducks on the river. The tenants who had it last season didn't do much shooting & I don't think they fed it properly. We had a quick check of the hoppers y'day & some of them still had barley in them from last season. Surely this is telling us wheat would be a better choice for this coming season? Any suggestions thanks, looking to feed the ducks on the river also
  5. How do you know it isn't for the protection of game birds? He never stated whether it was or not....
  6. As above...be very surprised to find foxes using earths this time of year
  7. Comment was made tongue in cheek Aris. My 4x4 insurance is considerably cheaper being modified, through a specialist company, rather than standard....so don't always assume mods mean more expense
  8. Classic beetle, as said is supposedly the cheapest car to insure for a young driver. Young drivers will be shafted whatever they drive these days. I would defo look at classic cars if possible though. Also look at putting a few experienced drivers on his insurance, limit the mileage also.
  9. Mates car last week after having the cylinder head done seemed fine. He drove it to work & not until it cooled down did it drop the water, turned out to be a dodgy hose
  10. I had an obvious foreigner trying to scam me for some steel box section. They sent me a photo from google & told me they could have it delivered for £10....theres no courier would deliver that weight so cheap lol. I kept winding them up for ages telling them I'd arrange payment soon & kept up my interest. They got sick in the end......
  11. Do you have any more info on the model you use Mr Pigeon?
  12. It all comes down to personal choice on the matter. If you value your permission & the landowner requests you do something about it can you argue? We don't all have endless farms to pick & choose what suits us. If my farmer asked me to shoot geese that were damaging his crops/fields I could suggest scare tactics as mentioned...I can guarantee what his reply would be though. I've never shot wildfowl yet, but hope to this winter. I shoot vermin all year round at the farmers request. How many shooters kill foxes without thought of locating cubs & dealing with them humanely? Not many I'd bet.... I remember years ago when the keeper would tell me he had killed vixens on the lamp we'd be crawling through undergrowth looking for cubbing earths to put an end to the litter. Double standards are rife in shooting....
  13. Great shooting.....its difficult not to be jealous lol
  14. Just remove them completely....better again for space
  15. I started off years ago ferreting with whippet x terriers, handy little dogs that would tackle anything. My "17 dog was a ****** for foxes & roe deer, he's been dead a few years & died at 17yrs so well preban. Never fancied pure whippets just due to lads I knew keeping them & getting numerous injuries due to the speed. Great fun though & not as dumb as people would have you believe
  16. Sure the farmer will be very grateful, its difficult to refuse if he rings but surely that result had to be worth it. Get well soon mate
  17. Just been out to new shoot with mate, I used his spare SBS that I've never used & is too short lol (excuses). I couldn't hit a thing but I had the crows coming in for a look, mate dropped one & I called frantically. They went mental coming back in circling but still too far for me to get a shot off. I've noticed these crows sounded similar to the primos but the ones at home have a deeper, raspy caw....if that makes sense
  18. Mate had same with his springer & it turned out she had been eating small stones. Xray showed about 7, didn't pass them so operation needed
  19. Lol.....only another 10 months to go then
  20. I've sat practicing in my back garden, much to my partners annoyance. I've done a lot of calling of foxes over the years using various calls but mostly using my hands with great success. I'm pretty adept at making different calls & adapting my techniques but find I can get very little variation with the crow call. Theres a lot of corvids where I live, always crows passing but only once has a crow taken notice of my different calls
  21. Are their many people working these Bracco's? Definitely a breed that appeals to me, love their steady pace. Never seen them hunt in the flesh, but seem ideal rough shooting dogs
  22. Fed raw for years, last few weeks had problems with my supplier so fed complete. I've noticed the increase in **** & smell feeding dry food, surely the amount of cereal content? Going back to feeding raw as the dogs fare better & I like to see them wolfing their bait down rather than picking at it. My raw consists of chicken carcasses & skin, lamb ribs, beef scraps etc. The dogs get fish once a week if I have it, mackerel or trout. Also feed liver/heart etc occasionally. I'm no expert but the dogs are happy, fit & healthy on it....heard people say they need veg etc included but I've worked dogs hard & they've been fine
  23. Well Steve I think its about time you helped us lads who took your advice, bought a primos call & failed miserably lol. How about a video showing us your technique? I've had little success & sound more like a duck than a crow.....
  24. Don't think I've honestly ever met 10 morons in my entire life....
