  1. Thanks, I will. Yesterday, the GP quoted 'at least 18-24 months to see a consultant, then a further 30-36 months to (hopefully) have the operation. This was the same when I had an inguinal (groin) Hernia. 18 months to see the consultant plus a further 2 years to have the operation. I paid privately due to the hernia stopping me working. The op' was in Setember '21. Recently, I had a phone call from my local NHS hospital to 'arrange a meeting with the consultant' regarding my hernia.
  2. Has anyone got, tried or knows someone who has the above scope? I know it's not 'top of the range' but reading up on it, it would suit my needs, which would mainly be for Rabbit and Fox shooting. Also, I can't justify spending a few thousand on a thermal scope that would probably be used a handful of times a year. The scope with rail is approx £873 and is available on 6 or 12 months interest free credit.
  3. Thanks for that. I've been taking statins (Atorvastatin) for many years, originally because of high cholestrol. A change of diet etc has lowered my cholestrol to a safe level but my GP insists on me still taking the tablets as, according to him, 'they do you more good than harm'. I'm tempted to stop taking the statins for a month or two just to see if the pain in my knee reduces.
  4. Another item that I 'inherited' from my late father, and hopefully will be sold with the proceeds donated to cancer research/care charities (via my mother) This is a Remington WW1 bayonet, not in excellent condition sadly, but still a nice piece to own. Ther's no scabbard with it. I don't know when or how my father had this bayonet. It has no sentimental value to myself and I would rather someone else have it and raise money for the charities. I'm not sure of the value but have seen some in the same (or worse) condition selling for £70+ I would be happy to let this go for £50 including signed for postage. Buyer must state that they are 18 yrs or older. I can supply better photographs for anyone interested, as these were taken on a small digital camera. SOLD pending usual
  5. Tumeric I can't take as it reacts with some other medication I'm taking.
  6. Does anyone use CBD oil for pain relief?(joint pain in my case)I have very bad Arthritis in my knee. I have had two cortizone injections which did not work. after having Xrays two weeks ago, I saw my GP today who said that they showed that the Arthritis has now enveloped all my knee. He said that the only answer is a replacement knee, which via the NHS will take approx' 5 years. I could pay private (£17,000!)My GP agreed (somewhat reluctantly) to try another cortizone injection but felt that it's not going to work. I am currently taking CoCodamol 30/500 but try my best not to take them if possible. I have heard/read good and bad reports regarding the oil and I know that it does pay to buy the best quality.
  7. I have one but have yet to try it out. I was advised to use felt wad cartridges as plastic ones could catch in the baffles. Luckily I've got a few boxes of fibre wad ones.
  8. Yes, it was 'big'! My first shotgun licence was puchased from my local police station back in 1975 and cost, I believe, £8 for 3 years. When asked where I was going to use it, I replied, 'farmland and waste ground'. This was accepted. No need for a cabinet either.
  9. UPDATE: HSBC refunded me the £37:91p today.
  10. A squashed up bit of Mars Bar attached to the 'prongs'. Works every time for me.
  11. Is there anyone planning on attending the above show? I'm debating on going up on the Saturday and there will be room in my car for 3 people if living close to the Rhondda Valley in South Wales. Or you make your way to my house. Let me know.
  12. Yesterday, I was having a good sort out of all my shooting gear(jackets, camo nets etc etc) which are kept up my attic, and I came across a suede 12g cartridge belt. Straight away I remembered when and who I bought it off. I was 15 at the time (1972) and I bought a Baikal single barrel shotgun, two boxes of Baikal cartridges, a gun slip and the belt off my friends brother for the pricely sum of £20. The shotgun was my first 12g I had and I remember firing it up on the farm with the Baikal cartridges and the 'enjoyable' recoil. Not long after that, I purchased a Savage 5 shot pump action from Kays catalogue. Happy Days!
  13. I had it done because a MRI scan couldn't find anything wrong pertaining to the problem I have, so the Colonoscpoy was ordered as well.
  14. Yesterday morning I attended my local hospital to have the above. I knew what was involved as my wife had it done to her recently. I had a canular inserted into my vein incase I wanted/needed pain relief. When 'on the table' I opted to try the gas and air (Entonox) should need be. At first all was going well until the probe/camera was pushed further in. My stomach became very tight and I was asked to 'try and pass wind'. That I did, but I ended up having the Entonox. All was okay with the procedure and two very small Polyps were removed. Theye will be sent off to check them out. I must admit that I was amazed when I watched the screen, which showed what the camera could see. All in all, it was 'okay'. The day before, I had to drink 2ltrs of Moviprep which is a very powerful laxative. Boy, didn't I know it! Also, no food for 24hrs before. After the procedure had finished, I was given a cup of tea and a few digestive biscuits, which I enjoyed very much. I ate a Banana on the way home and my wife cooked some sweet & sour Chicken with Rice and Chips for my tea.
  15. There used to be a large TJ HUGHES department store in Newport south Wales, which I knew closed many years ago, but then these type of companies then trade online. That's what caught me. Their Facebook advert is TJ HUGHES, but their web address is tjwarehousesale.
  16. I agree, and did this today after finding out about the 'company'. Strangely enough, I have just received another email from them with the tracking number, stating that the goods are in an 'internationally airport'. Of course they are!!!!
  17. i saw an advert on Facebook by a company who went by the name of TJ HUGHES. I know of this company because of goods purchased from them a few years ago. Anyway, I placed an order for 6 polo shirts which together with postage came to £37:91. I received an email from them confirming the goods ordered and soon after, another email with a 'tracking' number. They 'trade' as tjwarehousesale. It turns out that (surprise surprise) the company don't exist and they have used a very similar named company in Northern Ireland as their address/phone number. I spoke to the person who's number they have used and she said that her company rating has now only been given 1 star. After speaking to numerous departments with HSBC they have now cancelled by debit card and are raising a dispute. I was informed that they need to get in contact with the company (good luck with that) and also their bank (good luck again!) and this could take up to 90 days. I'm not bothered as to how long this will take as long as I eventually get a refund.
  18. The one I have in my possession is a WW1 USA (1918 stamp) made by Remington. No scabbard and in fair condition. I'll add some photo's.
  19. Is there anyone on here that collects the above, or know someone who does? Thanks
  20. Any of the Hawke / Nikko Sterling brands will be more than suitable. Hawke carry a lifetime guarantee too. Here's one for sale: https://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/435866-nikko-stirling-mountmaster-4-12x50-ao-ir-in-vgc/
  21. 95% of Hawke scopes are calibrated for centrefire use.
  22. If it is the scope, you can get it repaired/replaced free of charge. I had a 3 year old one that when adjusting the reticule, felt a bit tight. I sent it back under warranty and received a brand new 'next model' scope free of charge.

    Tadpoles

As a youngster (many moons ago) my mates and I used to collect frogspawn and put it in some ponds that the farmer used to own, and nobody else was allowed on his land.
