I've got armoured cable going from my house into my shed. It starts off by being 'underground' (patio stones) but then runs on top of the fence between myself and next door. The ence is being renewed soon and moved back approx 2 ft to my boundary. This would make the cable too short, and I was wondering if extra length could be joined outside or would I have to have a complete new length?

Hazel seems to have jogged my memory as I'm 90% sure I planted some Hazelnuts last year. I do intend replanting them in individual pots later in the week, so hopefully I will see what's under the earth.

Thank you. I don't remember planting Elm last year, but I'm glad that some of them have germinated. I am surprised that there are two different colours though.

I heard my first one yesterday, in the woodland behind my house.

There used to be a cottage hospital close to where I live. It was sold off many years ago and now there's a private nursing home which can house 90 people.

One of the Fish & Chip shops at our local coastal resort (Porthcawl) is charging £2:80 for a small bag of chips, and their pies (small) mince beef, steak & kidney and chicken & mushroom are £3:15 each! You do get a FREE wooden fork though!

I bought a pair of Hawke Nature Trek (8x42) binoculars are they are fantastic. I sold a pair of Kahles through lack of use and bought the Hawke ones for general viewing. I was, and still am, very impressed with them, plus there's a lifetime guarantee. If you were local to me, you could try them for yourself.

I've just been reading and looking online at the above thermal scope. This is the 'basic' one retailing at £1700. First impressions are good. There's also a good write up in Rifle Shooter magazine on the new Wraith thermal scope @ £1699:99

Same here, Bill. My son would now be 34 years old, 14 when I lost him. There are some tree's local to me that were planted in his memory and it's good to see them. Since I started growing trees (my son and I used to do this together) I have estimated that I have sent out 1400+ since 2004, and I hope to continue this for as long as I possibly can.

Through firing many 1000's of rounds with shotguns in my eariler days (mid teens, and not wearing hearing protection)and also working in a factory(1977-2000) which was very noisy and no hearing protection offered, I have suffered with Tinnutis ever since. I used to hear a high pitched whine when in a quiet area or when in bed, but for the past few years, I can hear it constantly. I had a hearing test via the NHS which showed that I am 'deaf' to different levels of sound. I was fitted with a hearing aid for my left ear, and another for the right to 'balance' everything. All that these have done is amplify the Tinnutis as well as speach etc. I was advised not to bother with the 'fancy' ones on offer from the likes of Boots/Specsavers as they do the same thing. Whether if this is true or not, I don't know.
