  1. Best thing about an allotment is when you own a share and can sell the whole lot for housing. Tidy penny to be made 🙂
  2. Interesting that they were not detained and put on trial.
  3. An excellent letter. Where is the call for action, to review the position, to await the response?
  4. I missed that update. Where did you see it?
  5. The young are paying for those on a pension and the problem is there are too many on pension and not enough paying. If we had more kids and died a died a bit younger pension would be fine. 🙂 In fact we should maybe reduce the pension entitlement for women as they live longer and draw more?
  6. I have been retired since 50. I just checked mine. I have 34 years in which was enough for a full pension but now the web site says I need to buy another 9 years. Spoke to the govt pension team and they said to buy years post 2015 (buying prior years will not acrue entitlement) they will cost about £700 a year and they will each give me another £4.70 a week so £244 extra a year for £700 with state pension age of 66. I am not allowed to buy the years in advance and the price of each year is set by HMRC each year. Its a pretty good rate of return.
  7. French will have blocked the tunnel by then or have diverted it to the Isle of Wight.
  8. I dont mind the beard but have to draw the line at the string vest and allotment 🙂
  9. Agree with all this. Nowt wrong with Aus, US ect. Just thinking about the arrangements for (non skilled key labour ? ) Say Care workers pickers , packers etc where the EU residents have filled lots of jobs. We either have to rethink how these jobs work or add them to the key workers list which will open them up to residents from the third world? Gordon nothing to add?
  10. Still worth checking as the state pension is cheap money.
  11. No it will be the other way around we can treat the EU nationals like we treat the rest of the world where the majority of migrants come from 🙂 The culture of the rest of the world is much closer to ours too 😂
  12. I heard that it was a BBC report that has pushed them into it?
  13. The existing UK immigration restrictions allow workers from the 'rest of the world' to come to the UK where they meet agreed migration criteria. These restrictions results in higher levels of immigration from the rest of the world to the UK than currently come from the EU, were there is no border control. The proposed immigration policy going forward will afford equal status to anyone who meets the migration criteria with no preference for EU nationals. The post Brexit migration reports should make interesting reading at least security will be enhanced when we know who has arrived
  14. This ^^^^^^^^ What does the club / syndicate want to shoot? How often? Where is the land? What's on it? How big is it? Will the use be exclusive? What competing uses? The list goes on and on and on..............
  15. In what way has shooting in the cull been conducted that gives cause for concern? There are strenuous efforts made to protect non target species, minimise distress and to operate to the highest best practice standards. It's not shooting for sport, Its management , which includes trapping all for an obvious defined and measurable purpose. I think the scale of the work brings shooting and wildlife management into plain sight. It could as a result of making activities more evident, increase objections to shooting sports but it's currently mostly a distraction. Those objections are there with or without the activity but the work maybe provides a reason for them to surface. Perhaps if the work was not happening this energy would already be focused on shooting sports. There is however, a growing mountain of evidence of the benefit to other wildlife that the management plan brings that will be difficult for the anti's to ignore. There are not many countryside activities that can or will be able to demonstrate cause and effect so clearly and the evidence will be helpful for shooting sports.
  16. And give your reason for wanting it. Job done. They are both rimfire so in the same group for clearance. I wouldnt mention for or rabbit just vermin control.
  17. Yes, they are full of metal powder.
  18. The very best. I have been fortunate to meet a few people off here, trade with a few shoot with a few and get help from a few. Without doubt this is a great peoples forum. Even if we disagree about so many things when we are posting still some of the nicest people about.
  19. I reckon the small one is a colonel? Definitely under cover.
  20. Thats for a trade deal. We dont need a trade deal to trade. We dont have a trade deal with the US but we trade with it.
  21. You said we can trade with who the EU says we can. That is not correct we can trade with who we want. The £350m is an invention its not real It's not a problem its not a fact. The rantings of a quitter that is starting to see some measure of reality.
  22. No it's not a fact. We are not restricted in where we trade with a few exceptions. The standard business forces that you refer to are the issue that we will have to grapple with. What standards do you propose we relax? What markets do you want to open to competition? The whole £350m thing is a pile of pants. It does not exist, has never existed except as words on a bus and we will never see it.
  23. Wife spotted one in my copse which went to the horse chesnut tree. Out with the thermal and after a few shots chasing it about in the tree it made a desperate jump to the neighbouring tree. It lingered too long on the main trunk and I dropped it to the ditch where charlie retrieved it. No hiding from the thermal and sweet chesnuts still in place.
  24. No but it will cost us that in paper work.
