Out with bumpy22 off here last night on a new piece of land. Farmer complaining of foxes attacking his lambs and brought two as evidence and bait. Within five minutes of arriving one in the bag at about 60 yards and one very impressed farmer. Then off we went farmer leading the way through a very the garden of a large country house to the next field. Despite all the racket and chatting going on a suicidal varmint ran in from 150m but stopped with little showing through the long grass at maybe 100m. Not responding to the calls he was shot on the spot and our first mistake was made, we turned off the light. Backwards and forwards across the field we couldn't find the fox even though we had both seen it drop. After 20 mins we wernt even sure where it was in the field when we shot it With the farmer even more impressed we went back to the first field to spot another at a good 200m. A convenient gate post provided the rest and as it wouldn't come in the shot was taken and three were in the bag. By this time the farmer left more than happy and we sat on top of the hill in the shade of a large hedge scanning with the night vision and coffee at the ready but by about eleven we were ready to call it a night when a final scan showed a fourth. This one knew what we wanted and trotted into about 50m for a relatively easy shot. A great nights shooting, mild, dry, plenty of sport and a cracking view made it a night to remember. Unfortunately despite his skill with the rifle his camera shooting is some of the worst ever so apologies for the picture (the rather artistic layout was my idea)

just two shotguns. A semi for everything and a o/u for pheasant and night shooting (easier to collect the empties).

Most drivers don't do over 50 so remember to pull over every couple of miles to let traffic past. Make sure you close the skylights before you tow it. Don't admit you have one in polite company, unless you know the other people are campers. Make sure you get some of those pretty fairy lights and a few led lights to attract the moths at night. Try and get some baggy pyjamas for going to the toilet block in the morning. :-)

I have a wayleave over my property in favour of western power. They pay me £80 a year for the privilege. I have asked for £30k for them to remain. I served notice to terminate and then notice to remove as I want them gone. Several cash offers later the final one at £12500 and a date was set for a hearing and they have now agreed to remove them. There is big money in this for some depending on impact and location.

I see where you are coming from with a step backwards, but the process also has to be proportionate to the risk which as you say is small. I don't see any evidence that the risk is sufficient to justify the process, its simply an extra layer, a knee jerk political reaction. Rather than a step backwards its the reality of absurdity coming back to bite.

Interesting. Before we married my wife owned a house in Europe in her name. When we married I became joint owner and had to sign to sell it. Laws in Europe can be very different from here in UK.

The bolt carriage snapped on the Hatsan. For me the Hatsan broke and the Beretta has not so, far also if I am super critical I would say the Beretta is more lithe and balanced with very low recoil. The Hatsan is a world easier to clean and as you say a fraction of the price. On quality I have not seen enough of either to know what is improving and what is not. Tell me where has the quality changed on the Beretta? Either are just a tool pay your money and make your choice.

I am not a gun fan, but i shoot more than most. I use an a300 trading my broken hatsan after 11 months and 7000 shells only because a deal was on offer. I don't see anything wrong with the a300 (12000 shells). Am I missing something here? The balance is right I don't have to weight it. So far its not broken, its easy to clean (which rarely happens) and cycles flawlessly. Maybe i dont know what i am missing (highly likely)?

Planning next years trip to Africa which will be to a new reserve with time for a bit of rifle time. Decided to get myself a 17hmr to take as I can use it here too and for the smaller ground game it should be a cracking tool. Rang the FLO who said no probes as it's the same band as the 22rf I have just put in a variation. Apparently I won't be able to get rounds for it out there and will be limited to those I can take. The limit is 5kg. Anyone know roughly how many rounds that might be? Was also thinking to get myself something a little special. I have a cz 455 laminate in 22 but something custom might be in order. I like the look of these Volquartsen Signature Series 17 HMR can you get this stuff in the uk?
