? Its the apparently missing voters we are talking about. By a wide margin. I don't do conspiracy theories but I can't see mention of it in the post election analysis (this side of the pond).

That looks a bit odd to say the least. That said the figures for 24 are not complete 69m and 73m so far with two states to call.

Sorry to hear your situation and also what others have been through a living nightmare. It's what many of us dread but it creeps up on you. Short lived is for the better but there is no way out.

Hope your right. ? Unlike the Taliban agreement reached with Trump. Setting aside the job numbers and the gdp and the chip act (wish we had some of that) let's see what the old bloke can deliver.

Crikey I hope he is as good as his supporters reckon he is. What a world we live in. Our closest ally turns it's back on the world.

You may find this illuminating. 59% of renewables built last year were in China, 54% of cars sold in China this year are electric, by 2045 no fuel stations (state fuel station provider). -

You tell me. I don't have time to check it out. Sounds about as independent as the BoE from the Chancellor. https://www.neso.energy/about/our-people/nesos-stakeholder-groups -

Neso The National Energy System Operator is the nationalised energy system operator for the United Kingdom. Previously owned by National Grid plc, when it was known as National Grid ESO, it is a public corporation which operates both the electricity and gas distribution systems from 1 October 2024. Wikipedia The National Energy System Operator (NESO) is a publicly owned organization that is ultimately owned by the UK government: Ownership The UK government owns NESO by holding the shares in the company, but the government has no operational control. The government has appointed a board chair and a board representative from UK Government Investments. Independence NESO has its own board and independent directors, which gives it operational independence from the government, regulator, and industry interests. Funding NESO is funded through energy bills and operates on a not-for-profit basis. Regulation NESO is licensed and regulated by the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem). -
This and even if we prevent a problem there will be something else down the line to treat.

Not from where i am standing. Nothing it's perfect.

Unfortunately as part of that global market place we have chosen to remove much of our protection against competition on price. In open competition we will see an erosion of living standards in UK.

I don't think we can afford the NHS service free to all. At some point we will need service limits and or a move to prevention rather than cure.

🤣 I read it in the Guardian so it must be true. 🤣

Its a fault of the application not the policy. Whilst I am sure there will be many examples of poor application of policy, hopefully having the policies in place results in an overall better outcome.

Xenophobia crosses political boundaries. I have often said far right meets far left. It's the generalisations that make the headlines and headlines drive business and racism. There is no doubt that mass immigration is bad for social cohesion and democracy. Unfortunately with global warming and the current war I can only see the situation getting worse. Or the far left which is equally disliked.

One of the reasons we need to put more money into health services. No one wants to pay for it but we all use it.

Shocking. I think on the whole they probably do a good job but they do seem to lose the plot on occasion. They are not on my giving list.

As a nation we need all sorts to make a country. That said we rely on high earners in a relatively small group to pay for the lifestyle the majority enjoy.

It's a stunning place with wonderful history, beautiful scenery and friendly people. Unfortunately your colleague missed the best part of the country which is the south west. It's breath taking. My wife says the best part about Britain is the detail.

Thats a good point. Maybe another model with better access.

I would rather it went to UK plc rather than some random dude that happens to be born in the right place at the right time. Why should our countries assets belong to some random?

4th industrial revolution. UK wants to be at the forefront of this tech. Good way to start is with the skill sets. Link it with investment packages for business R&D support program for universities and you have the start of an industrial strategy.
