I think this sums up reloading perfectly. OK you may reload accurate and consistant rounds more cheaply, but the absolute 'grabber' for me is buying the raw components, working up a good, consistantly accurate load, and knowing that I did it. I've been reloading for over 30 years now, and still enjoy the feeling.

I did exactly the same! Ran the .270 for two seasons and really didn't like it. Chipped it in for a .260. Stops the beasts just as well, and doesn't loosen my fillings every time I pull the trigger.....

I haven't shot hares for years as the farmers that give me permission to shoot on their land like to see them around.... Unfortunately I have now been asked to shoot them on sight on two farms, even though the farmers like to see them around. The reason??? Coursers!!! Driving around the land without permission, over crops etc etc doing far more damage than an army of hares would do.

Due to new 'project' I am selling a couple of rifles. This is my Sako M591 rebarrelled to .260Rem with a Lothar Walther stainless barrel. The rifle has done very little work (Less than 200 rounds) and is in excellent condition, with no dents or scratches. The rifle will come complete with A-Tec sound moderator, bipod, and Sako Optiloc bases and 30mm rings (Please note the Swarovski scope is not included). It will also come with 100 Lapua cases, 50 of which are pre-loaded with Nosler 120gn BT's. (A very accurate load!) All load data etc and drop sheet for this round can also be supplied. This is the method I use. Surprisingly effective.

The country has been left in a mess and this is the start of getting it back on track. It is very necessary and everyone will have to dig deep and get on with it. What they need to do now is stop handouts to people that have not contributed, of which there are many, and cut handouts to the freeloaders who refuse to even try to work.

What a very good post I shot .22LR for many many years, when .17HMR was available I bought one and used it for 2 years. Over the 2 years I ended up shooting the same amount of rabbits than I did with the .22LR, and it cost me a hell of a lot more, so I sold the HMR and went back to the .22LR. I have for many years found it very strange how people use the 'no field craft' argument when talking about long range shooting with centrefire rifles, but seem to be OK with it when using HMR's so they can shoot rabbits at longer ranges......

I bought some Federal factory ammo when I first started shooting .243, just to get me going. I managed to get 5 reloads out of the cases before necks started to split.

Even the most expensive camera, with the most expensive lens doesn't mean you will get good photos. It's all in the eye of the man behind the lens, and GG certainly has that eye. Well done GG.

Stick a few Pheasant feeders full of wheat up, that will bring them around. Can't keep the ******* off my feeders during the winter.

Trying to get back on track for you Jack..... I shoot 6mmBR with 75gn VMax as my 'Go To' foxing rig, pushing 3450fps and very accurate, and shoot in excess of 150 foxes a year with it. Lapua brass, BR4 primers, N133 powder. Under lamping conditions you are good out to 300 yards, under daylight conditions 600 yard corvids are achievable when you've put in the practice. If you don't homeload then forget it, as the only decent ammo is target stuff (Norma do good quality 105gn). Personally I prefer the 6mm over .224 as you get to use a heavier bullet that will buck the wind better. (I have owned and shot .223, .22-250 and .243 so have experience of all). Off the shelf rifles in 6mmBR are limited, so you are probably looking at a custom/semi-custom rig. Mine is built on a Sako A2 action. If you want any more info feel free to PM me. In my case yes, it is very much worth the extra. Having said that all my rifles are custom/semi custom built so only get the best fodder.

You don't have to do DSC1 just to get your trained hunter cert. You can do the Lantra Level 2 Cert in Game Meat Hygiene, this covers both large and small game.

85gn Sierra Gameking is a perfect allrounder in the .243Win for Fox/Munty/Roe. If you do decide to go for a different bullet for Fox then I would look at 75gn VMax...bucks the wind better than the 55gn and is flat enough for any lamping ranges. You won't have any problems with Northants FEOs geting .243 for fox and deer.

I've always found the quality of Lapua brass gives me more reloads before having to discard the case because of split necks etc.
