  1. Scotty marshman is right A Dog is more important than any gun Any descent club you join will insist that you go out with a experience member travelling onto a marsh or foreshore can be dangerous Once you get to know the land you will really enjoy it and you will want your own dog over time nothing better than u and your dog sitting in a hide or gutter forming a good bond between yas im sure as you know wildfowling will not be expensive compared to a pheasant day any ducks or geese you shoot will be well earned mate Enjoy
  2. True lancer lol Many a morning with my lab snoring in the back of the van driving in the sleet and snow dreaming of wildfowl
  3. EXACTLY what the guys posted not to forget after a wildfowling trip sitting at night with a beer or brandy thinking about the sights and sounds of the marsh or foreshore and looking forward to the next trip and thinking 24/7 when the season ends about the 1st september Its the best shooting sport in the world so enjoy u versus Nature lol
  4. Dazza ive shot a CZ 22 bolt action for years you wont go wrong if its for rabbits etc you can put any ammo through it no problem plus better accuracy Id stay away from semi auto 22 as some can be ammo picky and there not as accurate in my opinion
  5. Ryanlintott im sure someone in a club will take you out once or twice get you a bit of shooting But think you will have a better chance of joining a club fulltime when the season ends which is a good thing give you time get the money up and buy yourself some equipment and dont forget a DOG etc Good Luck Let us know how you get on If you were here in N Ireland id have no no problem letting you come out with me onto Lough or foreshore for A bit of experience
  6. I think patterning a gun can be useful but you have to remember your shooting at a static target not something thats flying and moving in the air plus take into account weather wind etc Im sure some of the Boys on PW could give you a better answer than me If you find a gun and cartridge combo you like stick with it
  7. I recently bought a AYA NO 3 Magnum and have been using it for wildfowling ive put gamebore 3 inch carts through it at mallard teal and the odd wigeon and the results have been very good i didnt have the time to pattern it the chokes are 1/4 1/2 been more than happy with the gun even thou im not a fan of steel lol Have a New Browning A5 3 half inch chamber ive used 3 1/2 inch carts on two fowling trips i dont think theres much benefit of using the 3 1/2 carts
  8. Mudpatten the wildfowling clubs in N Ireland operate that way with new members Thats why i posted that guy might have a better chance in the off season Well posted bud
  9. Motty a lot of clubs im in its easier to join in the off season but if you know any clubs PM THAT BLOKE get him shooting
  10. Mossberg would be for me hatsans dont care what they say are **** a lot of dealers here in N Irealand won't even take them as trade ins i know there be shooters on forum who will reply to this saying im wrong have seen 3 fowlers buying them then selling them after couple outing guns jamming etc

  12. Went fowling sat morning shot 2 teal thats only the start of the story lol as we were walking over to set up the hide both my feet went down to my waist in what i can only describe as a mini sinkhole i was carrying rucksack with decoys nets etc and wading stick not to mention gun in slip my mate thought i was joking when i told him i couldnt move after about 10 mins of me and my mate pulling i ended up having to dump my gear and unhook my wader snaps and the mate pulled me out of the waders it took me another 5 mins to pull the waders out of the mud i was drained in the hide NOW ive shot that ground 10 years and thought i knew the ground Well SO Chaps never take walking on land lightly it scared the **** outa me just as well the mate was with me just wanted to post this regards safety :good:

  14. Marshman dont think there is a all round gun Ive seen over the years some plonkers on clay grounds/ wildfowling /game shoots with expensive guns who couldnt hit a cows **** at 10 yards I went through a time when i was buying and selling guns and wasting money trying to keep up with guys i hunt with not anymore Have a semi auto and A side by side im happy with for all my shooting needs I said in a previous post couple weeks ago brought a baikal o/u to a game shoot guy on next peg had a beretta silver hawk new And was topped out in tweed head to toe i shot double the birds he did because the gun fitted me well Would love to fire a hammer gun havent seen very few here in N Ireland
  15. When you move get your guns secured in gun cabinet then send your licence in with new address They prob call out for look
  16. Agree panoma1 ive never seen any wildfowler using lead shot had heard reports that a couple of shooters here in n ireland who were shooting the foreshore NOT a members of that club who were caught using lead and the cops were called didnt see it myself But have never shot driven ducks on game shoots so cant comment what kind of shot there using on estatesTheres to many restrictions on shooting already with out Idiots ruining it for us All
  17. The club im in no one would think of using lead some of the commitee members would go around checking your ammo if they suspect anything anyone using lead for duck Are just putting the sport in danger with the RSPB always snopping about Think them reports from scotland are a disgrace
