  1. Wonder if they do a cased matched pair ?
  2. Looks like a lot of fun. I feel sorry for the loader on a driven day ha ha
  3. Here is that bc thing again and stringing
  4. Geese fly in a V because it looks really cool !!!
  5. With Hull cartridge and Gambore doing the same, it is all a mix these days.
  6. If a lawful gun owner becomes afraid of seeing his doctor if they are 'depressed' or 'stressed' for whatever reason ! Just so that it does not mean he may lose their gun licence, only to add to their anguish, then surely this is counter productive ! Just a thought ! Sorry ! I know a bit (well a lot really ) off topic, but is that not what is very likely.
  7. I use these and they work very well. http://www.a1decoy.co.uk/proflaps-mkii-pigeon-decoy-pro-flap-2874-p.asp
  8. Or maybe the 'sport' comes from giving something 'a sporting chance' . As to 'enjoying it' yes of course we do ( If you do not, then go and do something else ) I know that this thread has strayed from the original post and has turned into a debate about game being wasted, burnt, burried etc. But that fact that you may enjoy a day shooting pheasants that have been reared purely for your enjoyment only to be discarded is not something that can so simply be brushed to one side ! There is a very real problem and it is happening now!
  9. Unfortunately nothing will happen from within, will the big commercial shoots cut the number of birds shot ? Of course not, the argument that 'we' are only providing a service that clearly people want or we would have no bookings and anyway there is no law against what we are doing so why should we stop. This I think will mean we carry on as we are until we cannot. Shame is it not !
  10. Yes I guess in a way I am ! But better self regulation than from outside.
  11. We need to be self regulating,if we are unable or unwilling to do this ,then I fear others will regulate us ! I hope we never see the US system, where there are daily bag limits. It only takes a certain political party, with a record of anti fieldsports to jump on the band wagon and say "We if elected will ban the rearing of birds purely to be shot by the upper classes" If it is on social media as mentioned above then it is only a matter time before it gets in the media, just look what is trying to be done to grouse in Scotland, the grouse would more than likely be extinct were it not for the money spent on land management ! I really hope I am wrong. But class hate is a very powerful weapon!
  12. In 40 years of shooting,I have only ever used a side by side,I am currently using an AYA No.2 3" magnum with 28" barrels,it shoots very very well, and yes it shoots 3" shells just fine.If not that one then it is an AYA 117 with 26" barrels.
  13. Now that we most certainly agree on,I have used Hull Pro ones,RC4 Nickle (Very good) and in the old days Winchester Silver. All of them very capable of shooting pigeon over decoys.I tried some of the 'cheap' pigeon loads,Clear pigeon I think, they were rubbish.
  14. Very interesting! It is a start but I feel not the answer. With big commercial shoots killing 2,000 plus a week, that's a lot of sausages. He is right in that,if you do not like it,then have nothing to do with it!
  15. HAHAHAHAHAHA Like I said just like religion and politics,I am sure we would have a grand day in the hide together,no offence meant and I sincerely hope none taken! I am a very long way from you so really not possible, but it would have been fun I am sure.
  16. Oh Yes of course, silly me that would be the reason........Really ? Take one of your poleaxed pigeon and measure out a true 50 yards and point your barrels at it,oh!!!!! suddenly it is 70 yards away!
  17. Just a thought,Mr G.Digweed 20+ times World champion,Does not use his 28g 7 1/2 for live game.
  18. Mr Coates I believe used Eley Grand Prix 1 1/16 oz (30g) and liked to shoot his pigeon at 30 yards !
  19. Then I fear the end is near. And in traditional central government ways, that are more interested in public appeasement than anything else. LOOK OUT!
  20. thanks for the offer of the hat ! But put one on before I posted Ha HA !
  21. This topic has strayed from the original post, very true ! but some very valid points have been raised,If birds are raised to be shot and then they do not enter the food chain, how can anyone ever defend it,I for one cannot and never will.I have shot for over 40 years and have seen my beloved sport eroded by people only interested in money, that is not the sport that I hold so dear.
  22. I love talking about cartridges,it is the shooting worlds equivalent of talking about religion or politics ! Everyone has a view, some are based on fact and some are based on 'I read it so it must be true' those with real life experience have an argument that you cannot change. When it comes to cartridges the truth is no written word or ballistic coefficient of shot size (what ever the hell that is ) will tell you NOTHING! Take a cartridge out shooting,If you are a proficient shot ,you will know a good cartridge from a bad one!! And please ! A 1 oz load of 7 (28g for the younger amongst us) Will not drop birds consistently past 30 yards.
  23. Sorry, but neither of these sites list Winchester game cartridges !
