  1. End of the day it was gun crime, could have easily hit you in the eye, and as always it was down to some err, brown and you might step in it.

Sounds like the police did a cracking job, twelve bobbies seems a bit much but better than, yeah we know.

And the UK has no laws about these temperatures in the workplace.

Spain etc if it goes above 30 you get sent home.

My van (no air con) will be like a small forge and in London traffic even with the windows open will be unbearable.

Not looking forward to it at all.

I can see fan sales rocketing.

30 in Spain doesn't seem much, they'll never be in work from July till October?

On the Bright side the kids are off and mine are in the garden making dens, tomorrow I'll have a boiler suit on hoping for a breeze.

I watched most of it too although I’m hindered by Turkish commentary until I get home on Wednesday.

I agree with you but your acronyms confuse me, by JP I assume you mean JA and NC you mean NQ? 😁

    Sorry yes JA & NQ

I don't believe in it.  I think it's just when you realise your old enough to afford the things you wanted but couldn't afford when you were younger.

What are you hankering for, please don't say a much younger racier wife 😂

    😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

does it not mean your hangover lasts three days, and you'll never drink again, at least that's what your saying.

  5. Yes i watched most of the stage yesterday on and off, really enjoyed it.

I really can't work out what NC is doing , seems like he's struggling but tried going with a break away yesterday then didn't ride?

Second stage victory for Adam Yates, he looked really good, but if he was in a bigger team looking at GC contender then they wouldn't let him get away.

I think Pinot is the danger man at the moment, if he hadn't of got stuck with those cross winds earlier on and lost time he would likely be in yellow now?

And there are more mountains to come, last year GT had Froome as a super domestic i think they were calling him, towing him along, JP might or might not crack, Pinot looks like getting stronger as the climbing increases and GT looked better yesterday, with another two or three riders chasing podium places, the most open race for a long time. 😁

Lawn needs doing twice a week to mulch (cant handle taking the grass off) and takes about 3 hrs a go. Robot can work at night, if weather is not so

I was thinking wow who would pay that for a robot mower but three hours a time would sure add up over the year.

wonder how these ideas travel? Or do they? Is that necessity is the mother of invention wherever you live in the world?

I imagine those lads eat what they catch and use what's available, I'm sure being hungry will make you a better shot?

So it looks like INEOS need to break JA in the mountains else he’ll be in yellow in Paris.

It’s about to get very interesting.

Good to see we are not leveraging the same kind of accusations at JA that the likes of CF & GT have been subjected to previously. To be fair the French are due a home grown winner but I’d still much prefer GT retaining his “crown”.

I think thats the thing Ineos!!! As a team they're outstanding, JA is having a great ride but what about the rest of his team? Because when they take on the mountains you need a team.

As for accusations about JA, he's French so they ain't going to accuse him of anything.

    Wow!!!! Chapeau Alaphillipe!!!

    Vive le France!!

highlights again for me, bad crash which you wouldn't expect.

I imagine the French are bouncing, tomorrow should be interesting, I always enjoy the mountain finishes, but it's our rugby fun day so it might well be Sunday before i watch it.

you wont see their poor shots and wildlife dragging themselves into the undergrowth??

My phone is playing up, but i managed to watch the first few shots, the fox at 335 yards needed a follow up shot?? But all the 6/7 shots I saw were outstanding, well beyond me, probably most people? but i wouldn't manage a 40 yard shot because I don't shoot beyond 30, and don't practice nearly enough at longer ranges, but i shoot within my limits.

Others are pushing the limits, sounds strange but I've been thinking of getting a .177 so i can push to 40-50 yards, others think this is normal but it's double the distance i shoot.

Been thinking on this since posting the other day. A lot of good points made on both sides of the fence; difficult to say whether they are acknowledged or not. I have probably moved my position slightly since reading all the fors and againsts. So as every day is a school day, the thread has proved useful. So, as far as I can see (following drivel more for my benefit and anyone who has the time to read it):

A shot was taken to land intended to land in the kill zone. To sub 12 shooters that would be roughly a 10p piece, a .25 50fpe changes that somewhat. Saying the shot was a miss or fail as Stu didn't hit exactly where he intended is similar to aiming for the centre of the 10p piece and hitting the lower left portion then calling that a fail. Practice is key. We take on live quarry when we feel we can reasonably make the shot whether that is a 10p circle at 30yds with <12 fpe or a  larger area at 150yds with 50fpe. I think Stu was reasonably happy with the shot as he had practiced and knew the range. This left wind to judge; more range= more difficult but is helped with a bigger kill zone to play with. OK Stu misjudged the wind but still landed a shot in the zone using up all of his leeway. This can happen with any shot taken in the wind.

Once the pellet is in the air there is nothing more to be done. For a .22 at <12fpe, travel time is around the 0.2 seconds mark for usual airgun distances and a bit less for .177. For a 50fpe .25 at 150yds that time is getting on for a little under a second. That is a long time for a rabbit to stay still for which starts to put the shot into gambling territory. Where you draw the line on how much of a gamble you take is a very personal one. Could I criticize Stu for taking the shot? Probably not as I will never know the full facts. Would I take the shot myself after practicing at the same range? No.

This topic has certainly rumbled on, and i think this is a very good post.

Stu was quoted from a while back, shooting cans @100 yards, then he carried on practicing achieving 150 yards!! I've watched a couple of video's of people shooting long range with FAC air rifles on small gongs and eggs and find it amazing that air rifles can do this.

The big thing here is practice, knowing your gear the range needs to be bang on , had he been 5/10 yards out and he isn't getting anywhere near hitting the rabbit, this is why I don't think it was an unwise shot, the practice needed to even think about taking the shot means you know you can make it.

The wind which can easily change was misread or changed?

It's certainly got people talking which is good.

@Ultrastu so stu how often do you shoot cans at this range then? Certainly shows that you need to watch your backstops with your FX

  12. Just watched the highlights, Yates road a perfect ride, got in the right place at the final turn and held on for his first Stage win, I'll bet he's chuffed to say the least.

  13. I don't get cricket, been watching bits through the day because it was on channel 4, thought the kiwis had won and turned over. Turned it back and caught the SUPER over??

Shame it's not always like like that, looked good.

Khan looks good until he meets someone who hits him - then it's floor time again. He needs to quit while he still has some brain capacity.  There is little enough for him to lose.

Can't disagree, he looked good last night because the other lad couldn't hurt him which obviously gave Khan confidence, still nice to see him throwing his hands.
