  1. It certainly was cold in Lancashire, we beat Friday, cold start but wrapped up, Saturday in comparison was awful, wearing shorts waiting to play rugby, two 30 min games where you can't feel your hands!! Then the rugby union boys came out to warm up as the side ways rain began, certainly a day to be wrapped up or indoors.

Dog was probably thinking look at me, they are the days you remember.

  2. It depends on what kind of thing your taking a picture of, how much detail there is in the background.

you can easily reduce the "size" of the picture by simply cropping on your phone.

Don't forget your fuel bill at home, Gas and electricity.  There is a large portion of that that goes to building bird choppers and field shaders.

Took a minute but I'm with you now, i don't think about those bills because its not in your face like diesel is.

I'm amazed Id never heard of this incident, really fascinating stuff and some real bravery and determination shown by the sounds of it.

Just had a read now, chances are I've seen the film. Not sure if I'm more surprised we were that involved in an incident in China, that the Chinese were firing on a British ship or that we fired back at what must have been very close range.

    certainly an interesting read.

Google the Yangtze River Incident - it's quite a tale with most of the officers taken out in the first action and then a lethal game of hide and seek

    Cheers.

I used to love trips to the city and tours of the Belfast. My dad would wind up the curators, many who had actively served on the Belfast, by calling it "a crabby old tub".

My dad served on HMS London, a superior county class heavy cruiser, from 46 to 49 when the Chinese filled her full of holes from shore artillery on the Yangtze River during a rescue mission.

I've got some excellent pictures of the ships he served on.

Some great pictures and stories I'll bet, i didn't know the Chinese had fired on us , did they fire back??

Whenever it is mooted that we should pay a surcharge/tax/fine whatever to offset our use of something it is claimed adds to climate change, I always ask the same questions: where does this money go and how will the planet know that I have paid extra to offset climate change? Is it me?

Not just you, we pay more "to save the environment" like how much we pay for petrol and diesel, its basically a con.

Definitely as sometimes they try to deliver next door when the weather isn't good (which they didn't in this case even though they made a delivery next door).  My nosey neighbour watched the whole thing - lol

We take in all sorts for neighbours and get stuff left out of the rain thankfully, also normally watched by a nosey neighbour 😃

  11. Just watching this series on channel 5, can't believe the conditions they faced, just been showing pictures of the ship in the arctic with the entire deck covered in ice which had to be constantly chipped off because of the weight it added.

Talking about the battle with the Scharnhorst a much bigger ship, fascinating stuff.

I do realise it’s all for profit, what I meant by ‘I just don’t get it’ and the question ‘why’ , was why don’t people want gardens anymore? As much as I’m sure those four bedroomed houses are very swish with all mod cons as the saying goes, why are they selling without gardens ? They were in fact sold before completion!  There isn’t even anywhere for kids to play! If I found my dream house and could afford it, I still wouldn’t buy it if it had no garden.

It wouldn't be a dream house without a garden though would it? We bought a garden with a house attached 😉

We're thinking of extending, well I'm thinking the wife is waiting, so keep looking at what's available and the gardens are always a deal breaker for us.

£400k and no garden, no chance.
