  1. Cheers and hear what you say loud and clear, they are nice. . . . . I get to see a few guns in use and some just stand out to me, the basic 2 camps amongst my mates are either Browning or Beretta and for me the Browning wins, I have an Ultra XS which I shoot well and as daft as it sounds for that size and weight of gun is it's my go to for pigeoning, suppose everyone is different
  2. Scully, I read a lot of your answers and comments to questions about guns ( along with a select few members ) and knew you would end up leaving me with another quandary of what to buy next; cheers mate ( and I'm smiling typing this )
  3. Years ago a Scottish bloke told me SPO was the only one and it has proven to be true until yesterday when Tesco substituted ( blue label ) for the same brand but gave us old fashioned porridge oats ( yellow label ), they look larger and yesterday's brekkie was terrible and used the same ratio and cooking time as normal. Today slightly better by letting them to soak a while before cooking and not cooking for the full amount of time. These are nothing like the ones we have used for years. . . . just giving you all the heads up on this surprisingly amazing difference; don't do it, I have warned you, they not good Results for “scotts porridge oats” - Tesco Groceries
  4. Assuming your username and picture are correct then you should carve something of a nautical theme. . . . . . maybe a clitawrasse, octopus or nudibranch? I thought the angle was good too, eyecatching and probably from an engineering point of view stronger
  5. They are mates, have big rockets and not that good at English dialogue
  6. As long as Putin doesn't get China to give him a hand and then it could end pretty sharp-ish
  7. Just to let you all know, I bought . Payne Galway brush . Phillips bore cleaner I used my gun yesterday so came back tried the above and now barrels as clean as my wallet but once again thanks to the PW fountain of knowledge
  8. Thanks for that and you know more than me on the subject but yet don't know the finer points, which for me personally can now but nailed with help so far as being: Does either a 3800 or MK38 have the fleu do lie mark and ability to fire 3inch high performance fast steel? Thanks in advance to anyone who knows
  9. Think I'd like the options of a multi-choke. As always these threads pop up further questions for us all and although I think I'm correct in a 3" chamber will take super fast steel carts or do guns also need the fleu de lie mark as well as the 3" chamber?
  10. After some advice with this one please. I'm I correct that the MK38 is a modern 3800 or are the totally different and has anyone had/has used both and their opinions please would be grateful? Cheers
  11. Wow, I'm not an avid reader but the 1st few pages have truly got my attention and glad others think the same
  12. I've just been given the above book to read, written by Colin Willock 1962, just wondering if anyone else has come across it as it feels a good read even after only a few pages
  13. I tried once and was knocked down big style so walked away yet my neighbour got shot of a shoddy van recently without any knock downs, so just try them and walk away if unhappy on the day
  14. OK Boss, I hear you and love your motivation; just what I need, plain and simples just like a cheese sarnie. Got and drill and hacksaw and some PVA so will get some glue and go find myself a stick Thanks again to you all and will be in touch with pics as soon as I have my paws on a stick
  15. Results so far: 1st The stickman 2nd TBA 3rd TBA
  16. Hi Jonty I bought 2 think steaks yesterday and thought of this thread, I cooked ours the same way and they were amazing to say the least, seared and tender to die for Cheers
  17. OK lads, one last push and I'm off. . . . . . Thinks me will make a basic stick, either a Thumb or Knob stick, I fully realise I'm leaving myself wide-open to an onslaught of comments but you have all helped and we need to have a laugh a little more, so bring it on. . . . After the deluge of abuse, where to buy the stick. . . . I see loads on eBay for sale at a variety of prices, would the wise ones amongst you suggest a blank for a novice to start carving when it arrives ( if I put it away to season I'll loose momentum ) and I'll buy the one with the most votes; game on and finally over to you lot Once again thanks very very much
  18. My advice would be to stay with BT because. . . . . it sounds to me that BT don't have many customers sharing your line thus you had no problems. Change supplier and you might regret it, try other saving ideas
  19. I have started by reading and thinking, which is how I've been trained and yes sometimes it doesn't go to plan but this stick making malarkey seems to be the long game. I think I need some further advice on these items at the moment if you all would be so kind: 1. Carving knife, the way I see it going is any knife will be great straight out the box but will then need sharping, which I'm useless at even after several years of trying. I can't seem to find any with replacement blades like a stanley knife, is such a thing available, if not which knife should I opt for? 2. Detailing, I'm I better off in the long run to buy electric rather than hand detailing? 3. After some reading the joining seems to be split between bar and peg and suppose it's what your used to I guess, so a little bit of a 50/50 guess for me I would say. I'm certain after reading up on the subject, it's a terrific hobby and it looks full of very helpful and kind people. The bit that appeals the most is to put a chunk of wood in my vice and crack on but kind of need the above bits of kit first as all I have in my workshop is an owld chisel I use to knock the heads off rusty screws, some bits of sandpaper from Aldi or somewhere and my latest pocket knife ( opinel ) that has seemed to have lasted longer than the rest. O and the carving knife I use for the Sunday roast! If you guys get me started with where to buy the kit above, I'll get cracking and astound you all or maybe shock is a better more optimistic goal Thank you all
  20. Don't think the Government want Shoguns/Landcruisers on the roads with the road tax premiums. . . . . what is the way forward. . . . .Amorak??
  21. I assume, on my shopping list should be: Sand paper or sander/dremel knife set chisel set clamps glue stain and varnish Are there any recommendations for the above kit and more importantly, is my list comprehensive and accurate? Cheers again folks
