Exactly, they hold the tools they need to impose a super tax but just need the excuse to use them. Not even Welsh labour can justify the raising of taxes above the national rate at this time but being independent and no longer able to suckle on the tits of Westminster is all the excuse they need. A good example of your second sentence is the years of heavy promotion of tourism in Wales while simultaneously vilifying anyone who happens to own a holiday home or AirBnB here and stifling investment into infrastructure needed to bring people here under the disguise of Net Zero.

They are here and remain the silent majority. Most of those in Wales who do the work and do the earning quite quickly realise that any form of independence would quite quickly see any earnings over £50k being taxed at 75% or more. Independence is being used as a tool to gain votes from those who have nothing and therefore stand to lose nothing when it all goes to ****. **** the English will remain the governments unofficial motto for as long as they can.

It would be funny were it not the absolute truth.

Is that installed close to the cabinets or remote/ in another room. Ideally it would be installed next to the cabinets on the same solid wall using the same, approved fixing methods. As said, the keysafe being manufactured from two solid billets of metal would a lot harder to crack than the actual gun safes themselves. Even if you got the keysafe off the wall you'd still need to get Into it. A cordless angle grinder would be Into both gun safes and the contents removed before you had even noticed the keysafe. It's a bit of an eggs in one basket approach so I can see why an FEO would be hesitant to approve them.

Thankfully, there's not a cat In hells chance that Wales will ever see independence, certainly in my lifetime anyway and I'm hoping for a good 50 years remaining yet. There is a tiny amount of people making an awful lot of noise (where have we seen that before?) for Welsh independence but I'd bet next years wages that a referendum would see less than 20% vote for Welsh independence. We simply aren't mature enough, wealthy enough or smart enough as a country to work independently. The country would die in flames within a year with Welsh government spending the entire time arguing over having male, female or other signs on toilet doors or giving dogs and cats the right to self assign gender such is the futile and childish nature of politics in Wales. There is also no way that Welsh government could let the old anti English chip on their shoulder go. It's the whole basis of their existence.

What you sent via PM will be the better bet. I should be having the FEO around in the not too distant future (hopefully) for an FAC grant interview so i'll ask them about the key safe at the same time.

Is the use of a code locked key safe (the kind home nurses use to access elderly peoples homes) permitted for the storage of safe keys? I have a spare key safe left over from when we bought the house and I'm quite tempted to install next to the cabinet and store the keys in there. I honestly believe that the actual gun safe would be easier to break in to than the key safe. Of course, you'd then have to remember the code but it beats remembering 3 or 4 seperate safe places.

Shocking behaviour and I'm sure that prison sentences will be handed out to those filmed. The only real benefit is that the hunts are a great sponge for the attention of the antis. When the hunts fall then shooting will be fully in the spotlight.

It's one of the few things to look forward to following the end of the season. The heart says Wales to edge Ireland with a renewed sense of vigor following the return of the king (of Welsh rugby), Scotland to edge England (33-30) to retain the Calcutta Cup and Italy to hold France to within a score for 60 minutes then fall to 30 point defeat in the last 20. The head says Ireland to deliver a real beating to Wales, England to boringly grind out a win over the Scots and the French to runaway with the game from Italy with a 50 point + win. One of those games ruined with a red card. Sadly I won't be watching as I hope to catch this evenings tide on the marsh and end what has been a miserable season with a bang.

Further depressing the brake pedal should restart the engine. Do that as you see the gap and you should be good to go by the time you move your foot from the brake to the accelerator pedal.

It is possible to fail upwards to a point where you reach the top. See welsh government for example. The senedd is packed full of those who had Intentions of being successful politicians but weren't good enough to get into Westminster.

Shot Goshawks found dumped in Suffolk
Poor Shot replied to Shufti's topic in General Shooting Matters
Fishier than a fishmongers fingers. I did see some supposed Xrays of one of the shot birds. All of the pellets are just below the skin of the wings and legs and not a single bone fracture to suggest the pellets had passed through from the other side. Almost as if the pellets had been placed there and not shot. While It seems unlikely I would not discount some loon (or loons) with a 'means justify the end' attitude setting this up. The birds all looked in good condition and its very unlikely that you'd be able to see 5 of them in the same day nevermind shooting 5 in the same day. Too good a condition to be a collection of birds shot over a week or few weeks. That being said I wouldn't discount some reckless fool shooting them thinking that their doing right for their shoot either. Very disappointing either way. -
My BIL worked Aberpergwm under Energybuild up until a year or so ago. This after stints at Tower colliery, Unity and a few others ending each stint as/ when each colliery was closed down. He left last year as he didn't have confidence in the Welsh government to enable a long term career option in mining. The industry is so volatile under WG that a minister could close Aberpergwm in an instant over nothing more than getting out of the wrong side of the bed that morning. It's no way to live your life worrying if your going to have a job next month or the month after. He took a job elsewhere paying a fraction of the wage he earnt at the mine for some job security. He was the equivalent of a shift manager (mining has some weird job titles) and now has started again at the very bottom of the pile in his new career. It's a complete shambles that most of south east Wales is sat on millions of tons of coal which cannot be touched for nothing more than political will. WG would rather see these men queuing up at the job centre than in a well paying career. I believe that the Steelworks in Port Talbot which lies only a few miles south of Aberpergwm imports all of its coal from Eastern Europe. Let's not even get started on the thousands of tons of that **** lignite that Germany are pulling out of the ground every year to fuel their power stations and industry.

Always makes me laugh when I have to explain to regular people that the clay pigeons are infact clay disc targets and not live animals. Happens surprisingly a lot which is probably why the proposal for the name change. Also perhaps an attempt to align themselves with their Welsh and Scottish counterparts (Welsh Clay Target Shooting Association and Scottish Clay Target Association). Finally read the email. It is (partly) to align themselves with the other uk associations. Also seems like they'd prefer not to be associated with the game side of things. Not good.

Get them sent straight back. My CFGs are perfect. On the highest setting I can hear a gnat **** at 40 yards. Though the microphones on both of mine failed within a week of each other at about 10 months old. Took about 4 months to get a replacements despite them having my imprints on file. Next time I will be going for CENS as a result.

Game management and shooting self-regulation survey
Poor Shot replied to Conor O'Gorman's topic in Stalking & Game Shooting
Completed the survey. A self imposed assurance scheme would be a disaster IMO. I don't think I can recall a single assurance scheme (self imposed or not) which, though started with the best interest of the industry or activity it claims to represent, has not quickly morphed into an incredibly complex, expensive box ticking and form filling exercise which serves no other purpose than to supply those who manage the scheme with an income stream. I work in the electronic security industry and there are endless assurance schemes and accreditations that take an awful lot of time to complete (the paperwork) and cost enormous amounts of money to gain and maintain but do not absolutely nothing to help end bad practice within the industry. All this would do is add an extra few £'s to the price per bird and ensure that some small syndicate shoots and clubs get sick of the endless **** they'll have to deal with from jobs worth auditors and pack it in. -
after a total lead ban if it happens
Poor Shot replied to rbrowning2's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
It's likely that nobody will and it will be unenforceable. The average bobby couldn't tell the difference between an air rifle, shotgun, rimfire or centerfire, just looks a like a gun to them. Them telling the difference between lead and non toxic ammo on a random spot check will be impossible. What will happen is the eventual drying up of the supply of lead cartridges and components as they will be illegal to sell, unless a partial ban on lead use such as pest control only lead and game being non toxic only happens. Then it will be chaos with reliance on self policing and anyone using whatever they want. They know this and are aiming for a complete ban as a result. Not once have I ever been challenged lakeside on whether the split shot holding my float in position was lead or non toxic and I doubt I ever would have been. It has become near impossible to use small lead split shot as it's no longer supplied due the ban of its use. This is likely what will happen to lead ammunition. -
Auto's And Pump Action Guns On Game Shoots ?
Poor Shot replied to marsh man's topic in Stalking & Game Shooting
I love that clip 🤣 It's something that triggers me almost on an emotional level. As someone who grew up poor and still is poor I quite often worry that I give off that look when I attend events with those who would consider themselves longstanding in the sport and a class above myself. Though not on the same level as old Del boy. I do try my best but the thick Welsh valley accent, not having a range rover, £1000 shoot day attire or a bespoke game gun means I must stick out a bit. I feel out of place on registered clay shoots as well so perhaps it's morean issue with my own self confidence than anything else. I much prefer my syndicate days as we're pretty much all of the same background and standing. It's much easier to be yourself when you're not worried about what your fellow guns are thinking about you or your lack of traditional etiquette. 'You can't possibly shoot on a game day with that sporting gun, it's has extended chokes for gods sake' 🤣 -
Countryfile - shooting's role in the countryside
Poor Shot replied to Conor O'Gorman's topic in General Shooting Matters
All well and good until her old dad's money runs out. I can't see that the estate will earn even a fraction of the money that shoots and tenant farms will have brought it. Unless there is a market for inviting people to come look at and take pictures of your beaver? 🤔 -
Countryfile - shooting's role in the countryside
Poor Shot replied to Conor O'Gorman's topic in General Shooting Matters
I get it but you've missed the point of my comment. It was a chance to show that shooting can also be for people who aren't a retired director of a branch of chartered accountants. The fact that 80% of days are bought by old rich blokes shouldn't have prevented us from showing the BBC audience that the sport is inclusive of everyone in society. I'm young, grew up in poverty and work for a living, I still buy days on peg (Albeit not on a massive scale). A little joined up thinking would have gone a long way towards swaying those members of the public who are ambivalent towards shooting a little more to the shooting side rather than reinforcing the views that the anti shooters have been peddling for years. You'd be kidding yourself if you think that any other sport/activity/industry doesn't put on the face that it's wants the audience to see when the camera crews are in town. In a past employment we had a part of a channel 5 documentary filmed in our facilty. It was highly coordinated to ensure that the cameras only filmed what the company wanted them to. Only certain people were interviewed and some were even relocated for the day to ensure that the background working views of the interviews looked exactly how the company wanted to. -
Countryfile - shooting's role in the countryside
Poor Shot replied to Conor O'Gorman's topic in General Shooting Matters
Exactly that. Any chance for the sport to appear on mainstream television is a chance to dispel some of the clichés and myths associated with the sport. Putting on a day with some young, smart looking guns would go a long way towards swaying those who are ambivalent towards shooting away from the view that shooting is only for the old and rich, the Lords and the ladies. Would have been a perfect opportunity for BASC to showcase their young shots program. A ladies day would also have gone along way. -

Poor Shot replied to Conor O'Gorman's topic in General Shooting Matters
***, could the shoot have not put on some younger and more modern looking guns for that day? Looks like they've emptied the back benches of the house of Lords and given each of them a gun. Doesn't help the old anti cliché of shooting being exclusively for rich old toffs. -
Countryfile - shooting's role in the countryside
Poor Shot replied to Conor O'Gorman's topic in General Shooting Matters
Some Iffy figures presented on the Banff estate piece. Only £4000 a year from shooting? Even a DIY syndicate would be paying more than £4000 to rent the land. 🙄 -
Good post. Not that I am aligning your opinion with mine but we also need to take another look at old plastics wads and livestock situation. Farmers fields all over country are littered with all sorts of plastic pollution. How often do you see remnants of bale wrapping stuck on fencing or hedging? How often do you see feed sacks left to one side to rot? In and around sheds you'll see plenty of broken feed buckets and other plastic detritus about the place. I'm not so sure that most livestock farmers are concerned about a hydrowad which is quite small, coloured green and will be gone in a year or so. Fibre wads are of the same size, take the same amount of time to degrade, are non-digestable and would cause just about the same amount of bother to a grazing animal that the plastic or hydrowad wad would alternative after all. We should all be concerned about littering the countryside with true plastic wads but I think the old 'farmer don't like plastic wads' excuse is a but weak from both the farmers and shooters perspective. I would happily shoot a lead game cartridge with the hydrowad over a true plastic wad (and perhaps even fibre wads if the performance was improved). With that in mind it's their land their rules.

Auto's And Pump Action Guns On Game Shoots ?
Poor Shot replied to marsh man's topic in Stalking & Game Shooting
There's a bloke on our syndicate shoot that uses a semi auto. Only ever loads two at a time. Does anyone really care? No. I'd be more put out by the person complaining about someone using a semi auto rather than the semi auto user themselves. Bad gun safety is bad gun safety regardless of the mechanism of the gun. If anyone was seen to be dangerous, taking shots below the tree line, swinging through the guns or beaters, leaving cartridges in the gun between drives, poor barrel discipline etc they would be asked to leave regardless of the gun type and apparel.
