Bleeh
You have far to much cash to spend, putting a S&B on something like a .17!
nickcass23
The Scope was giong on a Tikka T3, but my Firearms Officer wanted another 6-12 months on the rimfires so rather than sell it I thought stick it on the 17hmr until the Tikka comes home!! Frenchieboy
Very nice! What length of barrel is that in the .22 American?
humperdingle
Very nice! What length of barrel is that in the .22 American? 16" on both it looks like. I've had the 452 hmr, and very accurate it is too. Just got a 452 in silhouette (.22lr) after having one a while back. They're very good rifles for the money. steve_b_wales
Excellent choice of rifles. I've got a 452 varmint in 17HMR, and once owned a 452 in 22LR. Good luck with them.
nickcass23
Yep quite correct they are both 16", been shooting the .22 for around 6 months and very accurate. Hope the .17 is as easy to set up.
ollie
Hopefully I have a CZ 452 Style .22lr coming my way in the new year. They are a cracking looking gun.
njc110381
Nice rifle! The HMR is a brilliant round if all you've shot is a .22lr. It's so flat and fast it's hard to miss! That S&B isn't too good for the HMR, but it's about as good as you'll ever need What calibre T3 did you hope to get?
nickcass23
Was lookinat .223 or possibly 22.250 still pretty undecided. Got plenty of time to decide now!!!
steve_b_wales
22-250. Faster,Flatter and Harder hitting. Not knocking the 223 though!
nickcass23
S&M scope cost £400 but i stress it was not gonna go on this rifle, but the more I look through it i'm thinki what the hell its only money and £400 for a decent second hand scope is pretty good when the quality is at this level. I am well pleased, just remember threre are alot of air rifles that cost this much and you dont get a scope even at the £1000 mark. Billy.
Have you put a trigger kit on it yet? If you didn't know about them, I would invest in one pronto.
nickcass23
Just got back from my permission, had a couple of hours at the targets. Zeroed in with just 10 rounds and spot on at 100yds. Also had a wander round but no rabbits out so no kills yet.Back out tomorrow or Monday so will hopefully have some pictures of my first kill. kyska
Have you put a trigger kit on it yet? If you didn't know about them, I would invest in one pronto. I've just got myself a very similar rifle, and I was expecting the trigger to be dog awful, being used to a very nice air rifle trigger but was pleasently surprised, do CZ sometimes come with good triggers or was I just expecting the worst from what I've read? What trigger kit would you recommend? At the minute I'll keep going with the standard one. Thanks Kyska
nickcass23
Just been told about Rimfiremagic, trigger kit is a tenner plus £2 p&p

Any advice would be helpfull!! Might be wrong, but advice from my gunsmith is to clean after every session, which I do and have no issues with accuracy, bore cleaner and rod until clean. snowz
never clean your rimmie or hmr will cause you more hassle then its worth trying to get back to zero, they are better with the barrels fouled up a bit

blackbird
I have never cleaned my sako quad .17HMR & after 100"s of rounds its still smack on.
mick miller
I bought a CZ 452 Varmint in 16" on the very same day (.17 hmr) and I'm getting just the same varying advice on cleaning. Some say clean each time you use it, others never clean it, still others say clean it every few hundred rounds with a bore snake but don't use a rod - it seems everyone has their own way (no surprise there really). Great little rifles, I christened mine a day later on a very foggy night. Not many rabbits about at the moment though, I think the endless wet weather and falling temperatures have seen them snuggled away in their burrows. Roll on spring! I've heard its worth using the rifle for a while before fitting the trigger kit to let everything settle down and wear in - again I haven't a clue whether that's great advice or to get stuck in with the trigger kit immediately? nickcass23
Thanks for the advice, I will see how it shoots in the future. Then I will decide on the cleaning regime.
Paddy Galore!
22-250. Faster,Flatter and Harder hitting. Not knocking the 223 though! 22/250 gives a lot of muzzle flip. 223 is much easier to get on with, just as capable for fox . Wish i had one! lol
