Frenchieboy
Well, we had about 3 inches of snow settle through last night but to be fair to our local council (Rossendale Council) they did a reasonable job of keeping the main roads open. I had planned on going out for a "shine" tonight but went for our "Residents Christmas Dinner" and after such a large meal washed down with a few pints of real ale I knocked the idea of going out for a shine this evening on the head. Just as well "cos it's now snowing again, only light at the moment but who knows what the night holds. Imperfection
Had a fair bit of snow fall last night and it appears Cambridgeshire county council think we all drive magic carpets because none of the roads were gritted. Not even the dreaded A14 was treated which is a main arterial route. Jim Sarakun
Uneventful night last night on the night shift. hardly any cars about either, which was a bonus. None of the snow that was forecast arrived any where I went. Cab thermometer reading -5 though and having a scout around for some Pigeons today in it, bbrrrr. If they are sitting in the trees then too bad, as I am looking forward anyway to just being out there, as the snow is still thick everywhere, still looking gorgeous, so may take some pics. A day of peace and solitude today then, crunching through the snow, before the mayhem that is 3 young kids tomorrow. My how I just love being alive. Frenchieboy
Up in our part of Lancashire the snow that started falling last night came to nothing and the sky is nice and clear at the moment. There is about 2-3 inches of snow lying on the ground but the raods are clear. On the whole it looks like a great day for getting outdoors for a good, quiet walk about with the rifle and camera. I don't think the wife has any plans that need my assistance today so it seems an ideal oportunity to get out on some of my permissions and see exactly what is about. I can combine this with taking out a few bottles of "Christmas Cheer" for my Farmer Friends. Hopefully I will have a few photos to upload either later today or tomorrow morning - (Christmas Party tonight, the head might not survive) Hopefully below is a link to a photo of the snow as it starting to fall on Thursday night! http://s542.photobucket.com/albums/gg426/f...nt=IMG_3612.jpg Edited December 19, 2009 by Frenchieboy
Beardo
was out with GaryB in the Frontera last night - offroad in the snow, absolutely no problems at all. ****** all foxes about though - was really surprised we didn't see any, snow usually makes 'em mental. libs
Well I'm shooting in Leicester tomorrow... and I won't be taking the civic - Having just driven to and from the girlfriends through all the back lanes - I couldn't fault the **** heap from Luton Yes... but how many dead foxes can you fit in the back of it No idea, but we did get 2 baths, 2 sink units with stands, ~40sqm of tiles a 6' length of soil stack in there from out gutted bathrooms, the soil stack wasn't sealed off properly and for a while the toe-rag smelt worse than any dead fox/rabbit/hitchhiker ever would :o

Axe
Brighton council should hang their heads in shame the way they dealt with the roads and pavements. I've seen only 1 lorry gritting roads. Anything but major routes is simply thick ice created from the compacted snow. There was a report on telly last night condemning the council for it's lack of action. The Hospitals are over run with emergencies for broken bones where people are falling over on the ice and they have had to put in extra beds to deal with it.
