Catamong
Cat would probably know, he mentioned Roundwood in an old thread a year or two back - HERE. He didn't mention that you couldn't go there and just shoot a round. I must say it doesn't look as though you can on their website though I fancy a go at that tower, I reckon I could hit them, it's the close stuff I can't hit I understand that if you want to shoot the ground, and can get a small party together, ring Brian Hebditch there and he will offer you some dates & times. The tower is one of the most feared in all of England, many a good card has been ruined there. It's a good ground, in beautiful Hampshire countryside, well worth a visit, akin to a very upmarket Worsley Grunge. Cat.

Catamong
Yes, it's a cracking venue, but it would mean an overnighter for those tight Northern g its who have a "can't pay, won't pay" attitude to everything. So, on those grounds alone, it's probably a non starter. Cat.
paulos
Sod that. I know that it will be a good shoot and excellent banter, but I can have a much better laugh by staying at home and reading MC's posts in the "How did you get on today?" thread. MC
Do you need the link to the "Chicken noises" again Paulos? I am not the one crying because you missed a few dinnerplates on the skeet range recently. Cat, The northerners will bnever make it that far south without getting nosebleeds and having to wear a knotted hanky on their heads. Come on you northern jessies, arrange the shoot at Roundwood for next year, or are you all YELLOW?CLICKY HERE

Bish bash bosh Sort me out a comfortable bed, a few pints of decent beer (Not that cream of Coronation street ****) and a bacon roll in the morning and we have a deal. We also have a volunteer to do the organising, Anni can always do the tee shirts. He looks like he would be good at that.

Mr Potter
British Open Championship(s) at Doveridge. Well we, Son of Potter and I, got home about 4 hours ago after shooting the British Open Sportrap Championship this morning. It's taken me this long to summon the strength to post this up and there is one small shred of comfort in the sorry tale, I am officially consistent in as much as I shot the same score on all four of the 25 bird layouts. The problem was the score, it was a very mediocre 16 to give a total of 64 x 100 So it's now official, I am **** at shooting The targets were clever in that they were deceptive, you saw the birds thought they looked tasty, not easy but killable but when I pulled the trigger 36 of them sailed on unbroken. Others seemed to be struggling as well with alot of scores in the 70's but my effort was frankly diabolical. The boy fared slightly better with (I think) a 71 but all in all a day to forget. Talked to a number of people who had shot the main event, the Sporting, including a couple of the top guys who you would have expected to be in the running, they hadn't enjoyed it, said it was overly tough with not enough variation and a lot of 40+ yard edge on crossers So the misery may not be over as we're back tomorrow to attempt to salvage a tiny bit of self esteem but I'm not looking forward to it. 100milesaway
Shot the BO at Doveridge today and managed a 66 but for some reason i'm listed in Vets and not Ladies.I thought it was a very enjoyable shoot and, Yes, there was afew 40 yard crossers but everything was hittable with nomore than 1/2 choke and 7 1/2's.There was a tricky white incomer below your feet coming down a bank right at the top of the course.Just up the track on the right there was also a rangey Lto R followed by a zippy R to L both below your feet. 15 stands, nothing silly but no room for complacency. Enjoy. Chatsworth on Sunday.
100milesaway
Forgot to say that most of the crossers i missed were Midis and i overled them. from Auntie Edited September 3, 2010 by 100milesaway
Mr Potter
British Open up-date. Just checked the CPSA website for the first days scores and it's officially confirmed that my Sportrap score was pathetic The good news is the Pigeon Watch's very own ClayBuster aka Keef is leading AA class with an 82 Mr P
Catamong
Mr P, don't beat yourself up over a lower than average score, looking at the Day 1 scores on the CPSA website there's plenty of folks who have shot well below their capabilities, it looks like a typical Doveridge shoot, set by a relatively inexperienced course setter no doubt. I'll be there at 9am on Sunday, by which time Martin and Chris will have shot it, so I'll have their opinion on the layout. Cat.
JonD
45ex50 on the Skeet this morning. 64ex100 on the Sporting, my first reg'd and well happy with that Jon.
Wookie
Hairyduck and I played host to a new guy at our local shoot this morning (High Harthay). T'was a lovely day, with barely any wind, sunshine and a fair bit of mick-taking from about stand four onwards. Hairy shot his nice new Teknys, which made my slightly rusty SPig V look a little shoddy. Anyway, I shot a 76x100 which was mainly due to the two 10s on the back five, but Hairy shout a respectable 63, even though he swore blind he'd been shooting better than that recently. I blame the new shed he's been putting together... A good day though, and I really enjoyed myself.
KenG
85/100 and 3rd place at our County All-Round Qualifier at Mid Wales today. Missing bloody low 7 on the skeet meant that I was a bird away from the joint high guns
