sako751sg
Is a kilt a nice piece of traditional attire or just an eccentric skirt ? Its because we are better endowed than our smaller southern cousins, and trousers would be too tight and wouldnt be good for our extremely fertile tadpole count.Dont worry about it though fella,my missus is a firm believer in size doesnt matter. She tells me that often, hmmm,in fact too often now i think about it.FFFFFRRREEEDOM. markm
Being pure of pure Scottish blood (both sets of grandparents moved down to NE England from Dundee to work in the mines) and being born in england I am in a very good position to pass comments (also my wife is from the Borders). To cut a long story short they look very fine (in the same way shooting gear does) but what I really love is the further south you go in Scotland the more they are worn cos they want to be pure Scottish, when really they are not. But - at the end of the day it's a man in womens clothes and all kilted men (if you can call them men) drink a pint glass with their pinky out! pedro222
The kilts proper name in scots gealic is the "Feileadh-Mhor". UP YER KILT
vole
I think they look very smart indeed but being an Englishman have to say I prefer our own national dress, the Morris Dancer outfit .
Mungler
So then riddle me this. What precisely is the difference between a "Kilt" and a Lady's "Skirt". Nuff said. If the Jocks want to wear a lady's basque and suspender set, call it "national attire" and make them in a gazillion different tartans that all look the same, then fair do's. Live and let live. But, it's still gonna be a lady's basque and suspender set, but just with a Scottish fella in them.

I thought the English kings instigated the Kilts so the enslaved men had the same status as the women?
flytie
Nothing traditional about them, they are a German invention . By the Sax Coburg Gotha's (spelling?). Still, as the good old Duke of Wellington said, " as long as they do it behind closed doors and don't frighten the horses", I don't care . ft

KFC
One of my friends wears a kilt all the time. I was with him today building the set for our Pantomime, Oh yes I was!!. He's a good bloke, has some great ideas for set building. I do draw the line at footing the ladder for him though
