Macwet Shooting Gloves

I have a pair and I like them - close fit (but check your hand size) and no problems handling cartridges with the finger tips when they are on. Help with the cold but they are not waterproof, contrary to the implications of the name. (I also need them on sunny days because I have lost most of the pigmentation on the top of my hands, and then they are not too hot for comfort either.)

I have used a pair for 2 seasons now and like them.

They are not water proof and not great in sub zero temps but for normal use are ideal. The suede on the plams/fingers is very thin so you still feel plenty. Handling carts is no problem and I will use them on my rifles as well though prefer bare finger normally.

Mine are brown in colour:

Ive had a pair a year or so - absolutely love em - They are the best gloves ive had for shooting in, regarding comfort and grip etc and keep your hands warm in most conditions. :good:

Just buy a pair n if you dont like them and are size 8 i'll give you a tenner or so for them  - its only a matter of time before i loose one

Thanks for the replies guys, does anyone use them with a semi auto as i have a pair of seal skinz gloves and my s/a keeps trying to eat the thumb on the glove when im feeding carts into the magazine :good: .

I was hoping that because the macwet's are quite tight fitting this wouldn't be a problem  .

Also regarding fit i've printed the sizing chart off the "just cartridges" site and im a size 9.5. How accurate is the chart has anyone used it to order any gloves ?

Cheers

Musto game shooting gloves for me, again needed to check the fit, but there very well made, and very unintrusive with loading etc.

Kept my hands frost-bite-free in a few suprise late night after-pub snowball fights this year too!

I have the same, but had to get XL as the L were to tight, but the thumb is far too long and out of proportion with the fingers!

great gloves, i have stole my girlfriends macwet riding gloves and they are great.

I definately think you need to try a pair on just to make sure they are the right size

and get the long ones but i am sure they come only in black

im on my second pair now......the first pair lasted about 3 years.....

as said they arnt waterproof but if it stops raining they soon dry out from body temp.

The pair i have just bought are the climatec ones......

i suffer from cold hands and they DO keep you warm in all but very cold weather.....

You MUST really try them on......when i bought my new pair i found they differ from pair to pair regardless of what it says on the package....

Mine are brown but they also come in black, blue and green.

I paid £29.50 for mine......i did get a pair off the bay for £20.00 but were too small and they only had my size in the summer ones.....

Its the same with whatever you buy... some will like them some wont.....

I bought a great pair of gloves from an Army surplus store. There are soft leather and snug fit, desert cam pattern. Just like an expensive leather shooting glove, but £12 instead of £30 odd. They are the type issued to the lads out in Afghan, no lining or palm padding, and very light padding on the knuckles, also a webbing strap around the wrist.

I've been using a pair this winter for shooting, and also shifting snow and grit over the last couple of weeks.

They are a very good, if you want to keep the majority of dexterity that you would enjoy without a glove on.

On the otherhand, if you want something that will keep your hand warm and dry through 4 hours of sleet, they're not for you.

As mentioned earlier it takes very little time for your body heat to start to dry them out.

I would imagine you can't construct a glove that is both warm and waterproof, but still is lightweight enough to leave you with good feel of what you're doing (but I stand to be corrected).

As mentioned earlier it takes very little time for your body heat to start to dry them out.

I wore mine for a days stalking in Scotland, it wasn't that cold but it was wet, very wet

Within about 15 minutes they were soaked through, literally ringing wet.

So I spent the next 6 hours or so with cold and wet hands so I wouldn't necessarily agree with that statement.

I would agree thin/warm/waterproof probably don't exist, but can't stress the limitations of these gloves enough.

I wish I had bought another pair of leather shooting gloves, not waterproof but warm and thin.

My last pair did about 15 years until the finger tips wore right through.

But the Macwets looked good, and IMO that is all they do.

The Marmite of shooting gloves it would seem :good:

i have used macwets this season and in the dry they are great. even in the coldest weather they have been warm when out shooting or walking the dog however once they get wet they are a waste of time.

i wouldn't go out without them in the cold but leave them at home and use some neoprene gloves in the wet. i have considered using golf gloves as a cheaper alternativebut they just dont look right.

Well i had a pair and wore through on the thumb in around a year i rated them as gloves and kept your hand's fairly warm but not in the temps we have been seeing but santa got me a pair of dandy left handed leather shooting gloves from dents and they are great. shall see how these last.
