steve0146
I used to live near Woking. There were proper flocks of them. Never shot one though.
kdubya
Quite a few near me seen them go over my garden a couple of times (heard them first) never had one come in yet KW
Dunkield
They have been within a mile of where we live but have only very rarely been seen here. Where my parents live they can't even put anything out if the garden for other birds, it just goes green with them before they make it back into the house
pyr8
we have a good few around manchester, there,s a flock of them that have taken up home in one of the large cemeterys.they have been there over thirty years.at the moment we have a harris hawk on the loose, the ferral pigeons are getting thinner on the ground and the local moggies walk with one eye over thier shoulders. alexr
There was one in the guarden last summer. Odd though it might seem it was being mobbed by magpies... Couldn't work out why... they must have seen it as a threat though I cant work out why.
SSS
Has anyone actually shot one yet? I am yet to see one!
Evil Elvis
I worked in the west middlesex hospital a few years ago and there were flocks and flocks of them flying around there, allegedly escaped years before from Psion Park. pyr8
why would you want to shoot a parakeet.
Beardo
as they are a non-indigenous species that are depriving native birds food and shelter (hence why they are on the General License) http://www.shootingtimes.co.uk/news/114142..._parakeets.html
Dekers
as they are a non-indigenous species that are depriving native birds food and shelter (hence why they are on the General License)http://www.shootingtimes.co.uk/news/114142..._parakeets.html I could be wrong as there are so many variations of the General Licence these days, but I seem to recall the ONLY legit reason for Parakeets is protection of other species....someone will straighten me out if I am wrong!! alexr
Is the idea of them being on the license now to eradicate them as a non indigenous species ? If it is then I am not sure it will work
Evil Elvis
Nope, to allow farmers to shoot them for crop protection, there are flocks in Surrey numbering hundreds and they have beaks that will destroy anything.
