pigeon master
Looks like a good days shooting. Are they migrating or being driven? The PM
kip270
There was a write up in one of the shooting mags. They are a serious pest over there, and are just flying back from feeding grounds, some guy broke the record for so many in a day
Dunkield
Any idea how much a trip costs guys??
Deako
Around £2k all inclusive.
HAMMY
A bit more than that Deako, my mates went this year shot around 55,000 in the week and were black and blue by the end of it cost over 3k. I spoke to the guy who broke the record for a day at them in August this year, I think he had around 10,000 to his gun for the day, or guns he was using two 8 shot semi auto's, can't remember his name, Irish bloke deals in Guns, he's going back in February 2006 to have another go at breaking his own record, he told me he almost collapsed with exhuastion this year whilst breaking the record, but I don't fancy doing it til I'm ill. One of my mates shot 86%!!, the others were around 50-60% My mates went to David Denies. My mates are going back again next year, I might join them, depending on what part of the world I'm in. Dunkield
3K is a lot of money, but I beat on partridge shoot where people spend that sort of money in a day,and that is just in the Thames Valley. So, for a once in a lifetime 'treat' it represents bloody good VFM - I just wonder if it is a bit too much shooting But then again... combine it with a bit of Sea Trout fishing as well hmmmmmm sounding better all the time
Axe
Stuart, i'll take the .22 rimfire of your hands mate, as you'll obviously be selling gear to fund the trip. Edited November 24, 2005 by Axe
Dunkield
Axe, I ever get this house finished and sold, we will have all the spare money we need for while  Of course the reality is we will just buy a more expensive money pit Incidently, I got a quote to have the barrel shortened, re-crowned and re-threaded on the BRNO, 75 quid +p&p so it would actually be cheaper to flog it and buy a carbine. Decisions, decisions....
Ozo
Just my opinion and I realise and respect other people have different views but 10,000 birds in a day?? 55,000 in a week?? To me thats a massacre not sport! after a few hours its bound to get boring just shooting them outta the sky, unless all your after for your money is to kill kill kill?? TimZ750
Great vid, I'm still not sure on these high count days. I'm sure if I was there i'd be crackin into them as much as the next man but just feels a bit "American" to me. "One of my mates shot 86%" **** me!!! kip270
Regarding the high bag counts, would we complain if they were rats or mice that were out of control. Think we have all seen the clips of mice plagues in australia To achieve these numbers they must be a serious pest and not enough natural predators

the barbarian
I was one of the four people that hammy made a mention about, the tally for the four days was actually about 11500 for the four of us over 4 days for approx 19000 shots. the trip was booked through frontiers but we are thinking of going with GI next time we go which will probably be february 2007. our tally could have been much higher but we were more intent on shooting the realy high testing birds. a highly recommended holiday and well worth saving for K B
Teal
The irish bloke, has the number of doves he shot emblemed on his gun slip, and don't even try and talk to him if you don't want to hear about it. I just think it's a bit sad, he might as well have the number of clays he's shot done as well. I don't think it really serves to impress anyone. I felt like some of the posters above but once had it said to me, these doves are like rats over there. If you were on one of your permissions near a barn and a constant stream of rats was running out and you were asked to shoot them as they were a big pest, you probably wouldn't stop till you ran out of shells. It is because they are called another name and look different that people have a problem with it.
Marc M
Does anyone know where the full DVD is available to buy from? I'm interested in it from a beginners point of view; trying to pick up tips and techniques. Plus I'm hoping to use shooting as the focal point for my stag do and would like to see what's on offer. Apparently starling shooting is big in Spain, does anyone have any links or more info on the like? Cheers, Marc
the barbarian
Marc M, if you contact garrie at GI country sports he will be able to fit you up with the dvd, I think they are about £19.99 each. the dvd covers the whole trip that GI provide, excellent viewing.
