Hi guys,

I am just looking into get a trigger kit to make the trigger on my CZ452 Varmint lighter. I can get a kit for £10 but not sure if I have the requisite experience to fit it. Does anyone have any experience with such a kit and how easy is it to fit for a beginner? :w00t:

Thanks for any advice

Probably MUCH easier than you think!

I'm sure there are videos on youtube on the subject. You might find that simply replacing the factory trigger spring will be sufficient, in which case the job is made even easier!

Once the action is off the stock (4 bolts?) there is one pin to be knocked out to replace the trigger spring.

Took me 10 minutes the first time I did it, 5 minutes the 2nd time, and I'm useless at fixing things. :w00t:

If the trigger kit is coming from rimfire magic, you'll get a dummies guide to fitting it with colour photos, and as Humperdingle says: "its easier than you think" :w00t:

If you need the colour photos, pm me and I'll scan them in for you (if not too big)

I am ordering it from Rimfire Magic so will see if the photos are in it. Do you need any special tools like Torque screwdriver etc?

Gawd no..... :)

A wide blade screwdriver to take out the stock screws (they're quite thin slots also) you'll need a pin punch too, and a little bit of attention applied to what you're doing.... read the instructions :yahoo:

Before you know it...job done! Oh, I wouldn't recommend using the lightest spring.......... far too light for me :w00t:

i found the lightest spring too light for safe field use, a good bump from a dead blow mallet would set it off, hence using the middle spring in the 3 that ive fitted and tested for safety so far .. even found on 2 of the 3 ive fitted i didnt need the shims as there was no creep in the newer cz's

I fitted this kit about 6 weeks ago. Reasonably easy - but please, please do ensure that you have screwdrivers that fit the screwheads properly (I ground down some to be perfect fits) to avoid damaging the screwheads. Also as already mentioned a pin punch is essential and not very expensive from any good hardware shop.

Like others I used the middle spring and did need to use a shim. If I didn't use the shim then the bolt wouldn't cock the trigger - it's not just a case of creep.

But after fitting the kit the trigger is totally transformed!

If you are unhappy completing the work then a gunsmith wouldn't charge much.

I'm thinking of doing mine as well. A word of warning though. I've been told that if you fit the trigger kit etc, then any warranty that maybe on the rifle will become void. I have a few months left on mine, so will probably wait until it expires.

Good point - and I did ask my RFD about that as I had literally just bought the gun with the full warranty. He advised that Edgar Brothers are quite pragmatic about that in that unless there was damage attributable in some way to the trigger modification then there would not be an issue.

Incidentally he also advised that in all his years as an RFD he had only returned one CZ452 under warranty! And that was due to discolouration - that turned out to be the owner using silly things to clean his gun with. Edgar Brothers still replaced the gun under warranty though.

My RFD was/is Eastern Sporting, Chelmsford.

Ordered the kit yesterday and it arrived this morning. Outstanding service from Rimfire Magic and would recommend them to everyone. Took it down to my local RFD and they fitted it for £5 which was much cheaper than i though so that was a bonus.

Total cost (kit and fitting) £15 = completely transformed trigger which is breaking at about 2.5 :)

I have not had a chance to fire yet but will update once i have

Valid point but few CZ rimfires cause a problem...and if it did, then just re-instate the old trigger bits...you know NOTHING about any work!! :)

The CZ triggers are strange, my 452 .22lr from a few years back is perfectly acceptable, was from new and still has the original trigger!

My 452 HMR was terrible and I changed it immediately for the Brooks.

My 452 (used) WMR was acceptable, but when I sold that and bought a new 452 WMR at the end of last year the trigger just had to be done, but it was not as bad as the HMR which really was terrible.

I understand the latest 455 are meant to be good on the trigger, anyone got one who can confirm or otherwise??

Sorry Dekers, cant tell you about the 455, but the CZ triggers are adjustable.

Take the woodwork off and adjust the square nut above the trigger spring. Often this is enough to provide an acceptable trigger pull.

Like yours, this wasn't the case with my 17 hmr :)

Just picked up a style 17hmr today and the trigger was to die for straight out the box!

Light with zero creep or pick up and minimal travel!

No kit installed, I even opened the box myself

Not even going to touch the trigger kit I bought last month :( :hmm:

Anyone finding this with the new CZ's?

Anyone want a Brand New YoDave trigger kit for £10 posted? :/
