Wild Boar Shooting in Dorset

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

After discussion with Admin, I'm pleased to offer you an opportunity to shoot for Wild Boar in England.

We will be selectively shooting each month & those who have already expressed interest will have been sent dates by PM.

Costs are £150 for a full night of shooting on Wild Boar. They are BIG & out there!

I will have arranged access & pre-baited the site, installed suitable high-seats, provide Night Vision equipment to aid spotting and target selection - and will be on site throughout the night to assist in all transport and carcass recovery. Medium calibre (.270 / .30 cal) rifles are preferred, I can assist in obtaining suitable variation to your FAC if needed - or estate rifle is available

There are further fees payable as follow:

Shot fee = £50 on successful shot (any size/sex Wild Boar)

Trophy fee = £20 per cm (measured to nearest cm on the largest exposed tusk.

Lost fee = £100 for any wounded / lost beast.

Trophy fee is only payable for a male Boar showing exposed tusk. On average, 60% of the tusk length will be buried in the jaw - accordingly, a 19cm Boar (Bronze medal) may only show 6cm of chargeable tusk length! Any trophy tusks or teeth are your property, and we will gladly discuss/deal with trophy preparation if appropriate.

A Lost/Wounded fee is levied to encourage you to only take shots within your capabilities, and covers the time, cost & excitement involved in following up a wounded animal the next morning!

So its actually a minimum of 200 quid if you get a shot, are you charged the 150 anyway if you don't see one?

I am genuinely interested but am unsure what it would actually cost me if I were to take a reasonable sized beasty?

What sort of length do the boars tusks go to? Just to give an idea what the best / worst case scenario could be,

also if you do shoot a decent one do you have to have your photo taken with your tongue out in a slightly dubious manner and have it pasted on the interweb :good:

Hi Folks,

Thanks for your interest - I'll try and answer the questions.

Carcass remains the property of the estate - but can be bought at game dealer rate prevailing. Would not suggest that a 350 lb rutting Keiler makes the best of eating, however, a 50 kg pan size version is excellent.

Shooting is done from high seat over a bait site. You can get down and stalk if you see a feeding pig that is out of range, your boundaries will be clearly defined before darkness falls - so no chance of issues or unsafe shots.

I know of four or five medal beasts taken in the area - but for every huge tusker, there will be eight small beasts taken. However a huge beast with 8cm showing (Gold medal & probably 24cm overall) would only attract a trophy fee of £160.

Sticking out your tongue is actually optional, but what do you expect from a man wearing realtree underwear!?! :good:

Keep well.
