Dunkield
2 or 3 depending on what looks best to your eye Or you could spend £1500+ on something fancy and upset some of our members
Beretta28g
2 or 3 depending on what looks best to your eye Or you could spend £1500+ on something fancy and upset some of our members I want a set up that will last me a good while, and be good value for money. I want an initial outlay and then very low running costs there after. I bought the rifle the scopes a present so finances arent too much of a problem. garyb
Out of that list. The Swarovski.
WGD
Same as garyb, but I would buy the 8 x 56 rather than the 8 x 50.
al4x
yup 2 or 3 as well, if it was as per the list it would be 2 but if you couls go on the Swarovski 8x56 it would be that
garyb
There isnt a great price rise from x50 - x56 is there? Perhaps £50 odd ?
bullet boy
I can't recommend the S&B 8x56 enough.Brilliant scope!
garyb
The swaro also has the 30mm tube
Beretta28g
Sorry im being stupid but whats the advantage of a 30mm tube? Thanks for the replys Beretta
Mungler
Sorry im being stupid but whats the advantage of a 30mm tube? It will fit a set of 30mm mounts better than a 1" tube will
Raja Clavata
What you REALLY want is a 34mm tube
Paddy Galore!
What you REALLY want is a 34mm tube Now your talking S&B do a rather nice target scope with a 34mm tube, and as you're not paying for it then who cares how much.
Mr_Logic
schmidt or swaro, given the cost probably the schmidt.
Raja Clavata
MZUNGU MJINGA (btw that's a lousy user name Dunk!) popped over earlier for an objective comparison between a Swaro 6-18 x 50 and a S&B 3-12 x 50 - his conclusion at 8x magnification was that the S&B was approximately 10% clearer than the Swaro. Despite agreeing with him I told him that was the wrong answer (I am selling the S&B and keeping the Swaro ) and swiftly sent him packing. So if you are looking at high end glass, as already suggested, go see what suits you best!
dodeer
I shoot a lot of Deer and choose Swarovski 95% of the time. Dabbled with S&B and Zeiss and both a very good but not as good as Swaro in my opinion.

Agree, I have an S&B 8 x 56 and rate it highly but the only reason I don't have a Swaro is because of the price - so it really depends on your budget. Dunkield
You would have to be mad to buy a top end scope without a really good look through it, I know I have done it Absolute pain driving 130 mile round trip to pick up a 'bargain' S&B, had a quick squint look up the Hight Street and it looked OK so I bought it. I got home compared it to my Swarovski and took it straight back the next day for and exchanged it for another Swarovski - luckily it wasn't ring marked. It's what looks best to your eyes that counts, not what anyone on here or anywhere else wants to tell you.
henry d
Going all out I would have said a Nightforce, however from the list, S&b or swar.
