Had half an hour to spare the other day, so I decided to try something different.

Years ago serving my time, we used to knock rings out made from the old Florins/Half Crowns, & sell them for pocket money.

So, having bought set of Damascus Barrels, which was for another project, namely a Damascus Knife, which never came about,

basically because the steel is no good for the job...long story..!!

Anyway, not wanting to waste the Steel I thought I'd make something different, a Damascus Ring, with a Half Crown Ring fitted in the inside.

I'm disappointed with the Photo's though, they haven't turned out as well as I would have liked them to.

Excellent job, ... bit of a curosity too

I remember making rings out of Florins (pre 45 ones I think) but were restricted on size by the size of the coin!!! wasn't rich enough to use half crowns,.....wouldn't imagine those barrel sections are too easy to work with

Hi Gobfish,

We always made them under the 1947 year, told at the time there was more Silver Content, & maybe it's right, the actual finish you get on the ring itself before this date does stand out, compared to rings made after '47.

You are also right saying the size restriction is limited by the Coin, the Half Crown obviously make a bigger ring.

As for sales batch...haven't got round to that one yet.

Thanks for the comments, :shoot:
