Mungler
If you had used 30g of No. 6 (like you should have) you wouldn't have winged it. 7.5s on pigeons? Why oh why oh why, especially when they make 6.5's and 6's from 28g upwards. I hope this helps

Raja Clavata
I'd probably put a call in to plod just as a precaution. Have been getting some grief from a local resident on one of my permissions lately (once bore you with details) and so am now calling in to plod for an incident number each time I visit. If you did nowt wrong, which certainly sounds the case here, then you should be fine. Making the call should put your mind at rest

al4x
if it was windy then he may have got some fallout, I wouldn't worry about it. If you do get a police visit just say you were pointing the other direction so anything that hit the car must have been blown that far and as it was 7.5's you're surprised he even heard them hit

MC
Perhaps he was offended by your Textspeak, or the fact you couldn't be bothered to show your quarry enough respect to use a decent cartridge capable of a clean kill. Happy now Al4x?

Mungler
Why 7.5's though? I don't get it. 6.5's or 6's will do it so much better. It's just a question of asking the gun shop for 6's or 6.5's instead of 7.5's next time. That can't be that contentious or such an outrageous suggestion surely? Hey ho. TJ91
7.5s do the job fine...like has been said many times, some cartridges have shot size 7.5 that is no different in true size to another manufacturers 6's point the gun in the right direction with no. 9s in open choke at a pigeon thats 25 yards from the end of your gun and it will kill it (not that i would do this but it would do it!) i have now braced myself and i am ready for the **** i am going to get oh and i will just say for the record i use 30 or 32g 6's for pigeon shooting and they do the job perfectly! on to the subject i would of told the police just incase Edited August 18, 2010 by TJ91

I repeat, why not just get 6's or 6.5's and satisfy yourself that you are doing the best you can for your quarry. I have no doubt that 7.5's, 8's and 9's will kill pigeons at varying ranges and conditions etc. Indeed, if I shot one at 10 yard on the ground with 9's and skeet chokes then it's a gonner. But if we are talking decoying out in the field why the hell not just buy a lumpier cartridge and know that you have given that bird the best you can? the running man
Listen to the voices of experience,6 or bigger for live birds, clay cartridges are for clays, yes they are cheaper, all that try desperatly to justify themselves skin flinting on cheap cartridges are walking a dangerous path. With all the legislation that's going to be coming down on shotgun owners (trust me its in the post) they need to be doing things correctly. What if a vet or police checked on ure loads? If he was an anti he could cause u no end of trouble . Wat are the basc guidlines anyhow?

Exactly. A .22lr round is more than capable of killing a man, but i don't know of any army that use them for that purpose. Let's face it most people on here shoot about 30/50 pigeons in a session so probably use around 100 cartridges? A saving of about £2 if using clay loads. I personally think your quarry is worth more than that.
Cranfield
Getting back to the original question. Just forget all about it, don't bother notifying the Police, or anyone else. Its also a good idea not to go approaching people who are not interfering with what you are doing.
