Wanna see my little tiddler?

I had a bit of running about to do this morning getting some ammunition and doing a few other things that I had been putting off so I decided to have a bit of "Me Time" this afternoon before I face the x-ras and tests in hospital tomorrow morning and decided to go and try a bit of fishing to see if my back would hold out! I went to my local trout fishery which I designed and developed the web site for a few years ago and got a 2 hour 1 fish ticket. I would have liked longer but it was forecast for heavy rain and thunder - For once the forecast wasn't wrong! In the time that I fished I managed to land the fish that is photographed which weighed 3lb 8oz when I caught it plus another 4, all around the same size using gold headed buzzers. This rainbow is fairly small compared to what is in Pennine Trout Waters, my personal best for there is a 23lb Rainbow and a 14lb Brownie!

The first photo is me with my "Little Tiddler" in the kitchen before it was cleaned and filleted and the second photo is the fillets just before I wrapped them and put them in the fridge ready for tomorrows tea! They are certainly going to go down well grilled with lemon and herbs and served with new potatoes and garden peas!

Thats about the biggest i would take as the big ones taste awful

Hope the 23lb and 14lb went back

Good afternoon sport though :good:

Yes I always put the bigger ones back, they aren't very good eating and it gives someone else a chance of landing a "big fish"!

Cracking colour on that trout flesh Frenchie, and those fillets look nicely cut as well.

Got myself a new filletingboard last week so am looking forward to getting a few "bows " and filleting them. So far i have not yet tried it out on the sea trout i've had, i'm rather worried i'll make a mistake and waste a lovely wild fish.

I'm sure that you will be fine filleting a Seat Trout, it's just the same as any other fish! I did the one in the photo using my Opinel Knife as I could not find my filleting knife. Just work confidently and make sure that your knife is as sharp as possible, it's when you start "pfaffing about" and worrying that you are likely to make a bit of a pigs ear of the job!

The main thing that I went out "fluff flinging" for was to see if my back could handle the "exercise" as I really do miss my fishing and my fly tying, it's one of the times that my brother and I could spend and enjoy our "Prime Time Together"! As it is my back is fine this morning so I might well try a slightly longer session next week.

Yes self confidence is important in most things, but i want to practice on a bow or two first before i try it on a sea trout, once i've done one or two i'll be OK.

:good:

Nice one on the back front, strangely fly fishing does not seem to affect my back, but spinning a right pain between the shoulder blades!

I gave up on the stilettoes years ago when I nearly broke my ankle mate, plus now that the good old "middle aged spread" is setting in it's getting hard to find a suspender belt that fits! He, he, he, he.
