Salop Matt
CZ 452 Varmint barrel , trigger job, SAK or DM80 MOD and a second 5 shot magizine ! :look:
malkiserow
I ended up with a cz452 in silhouete 16" and love it. I had much advice about .22 or .17hmr so bought both to know the difference for myself.

wildfowler.250
CZ 452, american or varmint (wouldn't go for the synthetic personally). probably the shorter barrel sak mod scope.... depends on your budget? Harris bipod (with swivel) £12 trigger kit :look:
Shropshire_Lad
Hi, I shoot with Salop Sniper and I use a left hand cz American in 16". They both shoot the same, neither is better than the other. atvb Paul.
strix
I am waiting on gaining a FAC but here is my shopping list (that is if I can't get it all "ready-made" secondhand off one of you guys !) The list has been compiled by going over and researching all other members' postings and suggestions on this subject CZ452 Varmint 16" SAK mod Nikko Sterling Platinum Nighteater 30mm 6-24x56 or, depending on funds Nikko Gameking 4-16x50 Edgar Bros 9.5"-13.5" Bipod oh, forgot to add - Rimfire Magic Trigger Kit Edited October 8, 2010 by strix
kyska
I've had several CZ's and they are great, but TBH with you, if you can afford more and if you are like me, like really nice guns look at others too. Don't get me wrong the CZ do the job, very well, and I wouldn't knock them, but if I had more cash I'd be buying something a little up market. How much money do you have sir? jamie g
there all much the same accuracy wise. i really like the annie rifles but they cost abit. best advice i could give you is buy one secondhand you can get a good bit of kit then for alot less money
Dekers
For general field work you will be hard pressed to beat CZ as you can see from the above responses, the question is simply which one. I find no use in a heavy (Varmint) barrel for field work, it gives me no benefit in any respect and is just heavier to carry around, so I would have to suggest Silhouette or American. Some people like heavy barrels, no point in getting into a debate, I don't, simple as! All my rifles have light barrels, right through the centrefires as well. foxbuster
Go for an 'annie' if you've got the cash-top quality!

wildfowler.250
Sounds like a darned good suggestion to me! Thank you very much ps there is a sako quad in the for sale section in 17 hmr I think, just a heads up Edited October 9, 2010 by CZ452
Hornet 6
I have seen Shropshire Lad and Sallop Sniper shoot theirs, and Paul is right no difference. Go for an 'annie' if you've got the cash-top quality! I have had a synthetic CZ HMR and after a bit of work it was very accurate, but the Annie I have now is just nicer to use. Neil. Backshot
Thanks for all the input guys, i appreciate it. By Annie do you mean Anchutz?? If so i have used a .22 Anchutz for years and never had a problem. I do like my rifles so am prepared to spend what i need, if my wife knew what i spent on my .223 set up i would have 'picture no sound ' for a good while!! I prefere to buy once and not mess about. I saw the Sako Quad, but its in Mach 2, does that create a variation problem??
JRDS
There is a 1717 HMR with a custom thumbhole stock in this months Sporting Gun small ads for £550. Sounds a bargain if the stock is a professionally made one. Edited October 9, 2010 by JRDS
wildfowler.250
its hmr and not if you just apply for .17 (i.e not state hmr hm2)

bennyblanco
I have had the Anschutz 1517 walnut thumbhole for a while although I would have a look at the quad now they do a decent varmint stock if I was buying again, only down side is the 4 shot mag. Just work out how much cash you have and budget for glass and a bipod
