big simmo999
I've no problems with them as long as they work (and don't cost anything!) trouble is things are always easy to imitate - take jonno.... he imitates a pigeon shooter :o
Wookie
They will not do anything like what the Gov says they will and will end up costing far too much money that could be spent elsewhere. As a side note, the fact that my data will be open, without my permission, to pretty much anyone that wants it makes me really quite angry. I'd much rather they had a system of the data being completely private unless _I_ gave explicit permission for people to see it or edit it. I can just see some telemarketer paying someone for my iris scan (quite an intrusive way of proving someone's identity as it can highlight health issues) and me being none the wiser. There's no way it will stop fraud, or terrorism. Mark my words Hopefully I'll either be dead or will have emigrated by then. Wookie

henry d
I`ve had one since I was 17(I`m 46 in 3 days ....hint,hint) Cost is another matter......I,as a tax payer all my life(OK 6 months on the dole)don`t think I should pay for my card,I don`t think people with true disabilities should pay or those who have retired. But what about those who find it hard to find work....... .......it seems unworkable but if it saves a life(Oh so doubtful)it is worth it. NorfolkBoy
Another great idea...... NOT! Is there really the need for another expensive and inefficient Government department ?( The Child Support Agency is a classic example) Government claims that it will prevent terrorism are pure fantasy.... If 'they' have the will to attack or bomb then 'they' will .... regardless of identity cards, biometrics etc. Technology only gets you so far.... shawn9914
i do not like the idea of all my data being kept some where it can be accessed by others without MY permision. i also do not believe that we should pay for it, the thing that really really p****s me off is the fact they say it will be voluntry BUT if you wish to renew your passport you will not be able to WITHOUT obtaining an ID card. and apparently it will be quite costly for a family of 4 like mine. its just ANOTHER *****y tax in my opinion IT STINKS rant over shawn
Pedro
We would'nt be able to police it properly. It's a nightmare now with driving docs. Personally I'd love them, but the pink and fluffy brigade would go bananas and harp on about human rights etc. P.
Lord Geordie
As stated this card will be a new tax like shock to the system. If you ask me the cost of these is too high they went from 50 quid to way over 100 and they still aint put a final price on em :< Freedom? Like **** :< ! It'll get just like france in the war getting stopped to see your papers and it will get worse they will prob introduce a fekin mandatory curfew next If they come as part of the new passports for free yeah not too bad but to have to PAY for them is a joke. As is this idea to CHARGE you for the amount of rubbish you produce!! You already pay for the refuse to be removed in your Council tax which AGAIN is far too bloody much. Give em a few years and they will bring out a breathing tax or a Toilet tax Lord Geordie
Axe
The rich get richer, the strong get stronger, identitiy cards, bah humbug. Whats the bloody point, they will forged quicker than the government can implement the hardware and software to make them worth while. Just another expense to the tax payer that will never work. Why cant we go back to intuition, we know something is wrong so lets deal with it. It worked for hundreds of years where the British Common Wealth was the biggest power in all the oceans. Yes im English and yes i'm hoisting my St.Georges flag, just try and stop me!!!

Debit Cards. etc etc. It's not us that needs them, it's the surge to our population that need them........ Come back Enoch, all's forgiven Bazooka Joe. The sun never sets of the British Empire......... Oh hang on......it's gone all dark...... well said axe . for a thousand years the british population has been used as cannon fodder or factory fodder , if theres no war its" get in the factories lads and lasses and make us aristocracy rich" when theres a war on its" over the top lads or we"ll shoot you for cowardice while us gentlmen retire to the officers mess" and all this time weve dutifully worn it . and the arguement that if youve done nowt wrong then you shouldnt fear it is absolute cobblers. when a government fears a law abiding, legally armed populace like the last ten < as shown by more and more draconian firearms acts.> then its us that needs to fear them!!!!!!! :< ps sorry for the rant but the tablets arnt working
