The Duncan
Look for local owl/raptor sanctuaries or even zoos. Why aren't they being eaten? ATB
apache
I take a few good meaty bunnies but most are left where they fall. I'm practising pest control not hunting for food.
stubby
I take a few good meaty bunnies but most are left where they fall. I'm practising pest control not hunting for food. well, as a full time pestie, I remove all shot pests, edible or not, not very good leaving them where they lie in my opinion, your put us pesties and shooters in a bad light. even pest controllers have respect for their quarry
bignoel
not good policey in leaving dead quarry anywhere clean up after your self. if your a practising pesti thats no excuse what so ever you will find you wont obtain much work leaveing dead quarry or vermin around CLEAN UP ? The Duncan
Not all being eaten when theres too many plus i dont wanna eat squirrels or pidgeons! what do u reckon? I reckon you're missing out - squirrel hinds are creamy and delicious. Woodies too- just breast em out! If the pigeons are ferals, I'd probably not want to eat them. I was raised old fashioned and just hate to waste good food. And the bunnies are definitely free- range! If you were closer, I'd take plenty off your hands ATB Duncan
al4x
Not all being eaten when theres too many plus i dont wanna eat squirrels or pidgeons! what do u reckon? a dead bin is an option, pile them up and all the maggots etc drop out and the pheasants etc can eat them
Billy.
It won't help much if your pest control duties require you to clear the fox population, if you're leaving a fair few bunnies around. Even worse if your landowner doesn't want badgers moving in.
al4x
my landowner leaves all his bunnies where they lay so it really depends, as far as he is concerned dead bunnies don't eat his wheat and hasn't the time to pick them up before shooting more. Only place he picks them up is in the horse fields otherwise his ear gets bent by the horsey girls
Newsportshooter
In addition to the above and causing a stinky mess, if there are sheep on the land you shoot, you could be encouraging blow fly which cause fly strike on sheep which will seriously not earn you any favours.. Kenyan
We always lift what we kill. No point in littering the countryside will dead vermin. You'll always miss one or two anyway which will feed the buzzards ,red kites and corvids the following morning. Anything not marketable gets dumped in the midden or the the waste pit. Get way of catching foxes is snaring around a midden.
farmerjohn
Not all being eaten when theres too many plus i dont wanna eat squirrels or pidgeons! what do u reckon? learn to shoot your rabbits in the head and sell them to your local game dealer it will more than cover your time spent picking them up

BADFEET
Typical of quiet a few (not all) gunmen, killing for the sake of killing.....it hardly gives shooters the moral high ground does it. I use everything and I mean everything that can be eaten by me or the dogs. You will kill your own sport in the end by dumping dead game. The Duncan
THe reason I've now gone the shottie route is to add to the rabbits and grey squirrels for the pot I've been getting so far. I know pro pest controllers will cull more than I these days, but I get a knee jerk reaction to wasting meat and leavind bodies littering the fields. I know nature will take its course, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. My landowners don't want corpses in their paddocks or fields or spinneys. XD2
I have seen quite a few ads from Ferret Sanctuaries asking for Rabbits, so maybe you could find a local one and donate them there is you have no use for them.
jinxy72
dont make any sense leaving them lying around ... even if u dont want to eat them a game dealer will buy from you , someone could use for dog / animal feed or even someone else take them from you. at the very least you should put them in the nearest bush / hedge for fox food as out of sight out of mind. Acid House
Get a ruddy great mincer and an even bigger pan and make some pet food. Before you know it the local pet shops will be beating your door down for the stuff. If they dont give it to the local dogs home.
