have skiid since I was 16, so almost 30 years and pretty much every year. Never fancied boarding (was a child of the 70s and a youth of the 80s, if you'd seen me on a skateboard you'd understand why not  )

Do have a real urge to try biathlon though, need to get fit and lose a bucket of weight first though so aiming for next season and we'll give it a go! Sadly there aren't many clubs or facilities in the UK (you can train without snow, on roller skis  ) don't know how it would go down at the local park though, me doing circuits with a rifle on my back then every couple of km dropping down and letting 5 rounds go!! :look:

Snowboarding, love it to bits, the feeling when you're cranked over 70 degrees in a high speed turn takes some beating. Not into the tricks side of things but a bit of air and freeriding off piste is great.

It's very easy to pick up too, I learnt in Val D years back, had two 1 hour lessons and was off piste the next day, just don't try anywhere with lots of flats!

Its simple.......

under 30 snowboarding ............ over 30 skiing..........

I think the bar's a bit lower - 25 & Under = Snowboard, over 25 = ski.

To snowbaord you need a goatee and end every sentence with "dude". Anybody over 25 doing that looks/sounds stupid

Although I voted Skiing, it's only because I'm still getting to grips with snowboarding. Somehow it just doesn't feel right but I'm putting that down to me being over 30 and learning something which is the generally considered the reserve of young punks with funky hair.

Have been gently coaxing Mrs H in to learning to ski (I used to go with the school when a youngster). Mrs H & I had a trade off, if I wanted her to learn skiing then we' d have to go latin & ballroom dancing for her side of things. Since we started our trade off 3 years ago we've had 3 skiing lessons and about 90 latin & ballroom lessons. Is it me or is there something wrong with the ratio here?

Mug ! lol

ive only recently got the misses into Snow boarding last couple of years and she loves it!

and as for the comments about flat bits of snow! the only problem i find is when you run out of steam to get to the next lift or around the bars Apres Ski!

Failing that i cant think of anything worse than falling over (skiing) and losing your skis! i know where my board is going to be when i wipe out! :good:

One of the funniest thing I have ever seen was a fight between a snowboarder and a skiier. It was in the US. They had a coming together and a fight broke out. The problem was that the boarder was still attached to his board and therefore he didn't have a lot of mobility. He kept on getting knocked over, getting up, knocked over again and again. It was like one of those kids toys from the 70's - Weebles wobble but the don't fall fall down.

I did Ski for a week on a school trip around 20 years ago and enjoyed it.

Myself and few of my mates got into snowboarding in our mid 20s and have never looked back :good:
