bismuth 46g BBs for geese on foreshore (and inland)

bismuth 32g 5s for foreshore duck and mirage steel 32g 4s for duck on flightpond

Have heard a few bad reports on the bismuth but i am getting on with it really well (touch wood)!

I bought a cheapy hatsan escort magnum, got sick of knocking nice guns about and ruining them!

Havent had any problens with the hatsan (even after dropping it in a couple of sloppy muddy creeks!)

Ive had a good season, getting out as often as possible to be honest.

I think I have only been out 3 times on my own this season, all the rest of the time I have taken out new members of the club so they can get some experience etc

In total my bag is 3 Wigeons, 1 Teal and my first Goose, a Greylag

I have some good memories of this season, calling and turning 5 Greys over us and which produced my 1st and the new member i took out 1st goose :good:

Being cocky and showing a couple of new members how to hit a Wigeon, when they both missed a nice over head shot, and as it was going away, i said this is how you do it lads ....to my amazement and their envy i poked the gun at it, pulled the trigger and down it came

Plus not forgetting the laughs when myself and a new member had about 20 Canadas last week come across us from Right to left about 30yds out, and all 6 shots totaly missed....obviously i had to explain to the rest of the guys on the marsh that i was infact working on behalf of bird protection and these geese were deliberatly missed on purpose, well it gave everyone a laugh

A great season a few more days to go but more then happy with the result

Been out about 8 or 9 times this year. Always managed to get a few shots but not always brought something home. Saw more teal this year than ever before. Had my best day on Sat. Ended up with 2 lovely cock wigeon and a mallard but had plenty of shots. Been trying different cartridges and finally found ones I like. Have been using different brands of steel, all 32g of no.4 but I had more runners than dead birds. Switched to 36g of no.1 and its been dropping the birds cleanly. Seems a bit over kill but it seems you need it with steel. May try tungsten next season.

Been out on the shore a good few times this season and after nabbing 4 grays this morning takes my total to 18 on the shore. Although it was my intention to go for duck this morning there were none within range. The geese just came right over where I was sitting.

Only managed 1 Mallard on the shore so far but have had 3 mallard & 1 teal over flight ponds. I did not get out over the decoys as much as I would have liked mostly because of the weather but on 3 seperate outings I managed 1 graylag each time out.

I am hoping to get out on the shore again tonight and again in the morning and a few more times before the end of the season.

I did mention on a post late last year that 1 of the graylags I nabbed was ringed and it was intresting to find out the information about the ringing.

I am now using a Baikel 3.5 which I am still getting used to and still trying various makes and sizes of loads, my escort gave up the ghost

I have had 2 geese (canada) and a teal this season. I went to the solway 2 weeks or so ago and didnt even fire the gun. Plenty of geese about but the weather was like being back down south. No wind, fire ball shining bright in the sky and not a cloud in sight. I was going to sneak up last night ready for the wind thats in but my clutch went on my car yesterday putting pay to that and now going to be at least 3 trips worth of ££££'s out of money from it. Damn it!

Its been a good season so far with Egyptian geese, pink foot , greylag , whitefront , pintail , mallard , teal , shoveller , wigeon , gadwall , and pochard in the bag. 90% of the birds were shot from the foreshore. Shot in a lot of wild places from tidal marshes in the N Norfolk Coast , the Ouse washes , flooded water meadows , Broadland rivers and from a boat in a lake. The whole season has been good from September , mallard , migrant wigeon in October, lots of pinks from November , pochards after the cold mid winter , recently good numbers of mallard again and a scattering of greylag right throught the season. I stopped shooting for a few weeks during the worst of the cold weather as the ducks and geese were obviously suffering and restarted in the new year.

A season to remember.

Flight of the season yesterday morning and shot like a eejit, seen the geese come off low at the far end of the marsh the previous morning so decided to be back there the next day. First skein straight overhead, somebody else shot from my left, I dropped a cracking pink with my second shot as they flared, well happy. Moved a bit to get away from other 'fowler, then missd the next threes skeins, (all 45 -50 yards but well doable with hevi shot) 9 shots for the flight and one goose. The other guy got 3 down for 4 shots. Then to cap it all as I walked off a single grey came over, another three shots, three misses !! About £15 of my precious 36 grams Hevi shot fired into thin air.

On a half decent run lately which would be better if I could shoot straight, Thursday - 1 Greylag, Friday 1 - Canada, Saturday - 1 Pinkfoot.

I think this will be the first season I have shot more geese than duck.

i have had a good season would have been alot better if i did not have my foot in plaster for 3 weeks, it should have been longer in plaster but to many ducks about and being shot so it had to come off quick ..

257 ducks shot

31 pinks shot

8 greys shot

1 white front shot

3 canadas shot

all on the foreshore and marshes

most ducks shot on tide fights ,tide dropping , geese were shot on moring flights , moon flights , all canadas were shot walking off the marsh and was a 3 out of 3 ..

the season is not yet over  so i'm hoping to reach 300 ducks , i think thats about it for the pinks as they have nearly all gone now .still a few greys about and canads ..

some people may find this amount hard to believe but there is people who can vouch for me on here ...
