4 years ago today I had my aortic valve replaced in Leeds General infirmary due to being born with a congenital heart defect and had I not had it done I wouldn't be here today :good: :good: :good: Its a fine day to be alive for me and I a grateful to be alive today.

And we're all pleased to have you with us, mate.

Cheers,

Phil

I know exactly how you feel. About 5 years ago I had a mild hart " incident " and had to have a couple of Stents inserted on my main hart veins.

It made me look at life in a completely deferent way . I now try to enjoy every minute and not take things for granted as I did before.

Look after yourself .

My father had a triple bypass there 20 years ago. He can still do backflips on demand at nearly 70.

Hi groach, did you have a prosthetic valve? does it keep you awake still?

Yes its prosthetic but i hardly ever hear it at all now unless i listen for it and its not been a problem since about 3 days after my surgery :good: Its funny though as I have one friend who can hear it across a room if its not to loud.

it would be interesting on a plane or something, the worried looks on the passengers faces when someone asks "what's that ticking?" :yp:

I look after alot of people with aortic valve problems . It is terrifying how unwell they can become . It is really amazing when you see them after the valve is repaired or replaced , looking a picture of health and enjoying a normal life , albeit with anti coag clinic appointments .Glad you are one of them . :good:

That is a tremendous story - I had a lumbar disectomy last year, which scared me rigid and three years ago my wife got me to hospital just in time where they found I had pneumonia - My GP had said it was "just a cold". Scary at the time as I was told it could have been curtains but I take my hat off to you.

I think the motto for us all is to live every day as it comes and thank God that by comparison with others we are very lucky.

Thank you
